This thread...

Pure gold...5 stars...two thumbs WAY UP! What a troll job...

Sleeping Tiger=big, magma vagina

I haven't enjoyed reading a thread this much since the Honey Bugger thread from almost two years ago
Britney Spears episode

The episode where Stan's getting older

Part III of Imaginationland Triology (stupid ending)
The name your favorite guitar masters thread got me thinking about the unsung heroes of the band stand. Diverse range to pick from as well (jazz pianists, organ masters, clav masters, etc)

IMHO:

1. Herbie Hancock
2. John Medeski
3. Paige McConnell
4. Jimmy Smith
5. James Booker

Who you got?
I've seen the Kraz a lot in the recent years and from what I've seen the guy always brings it. Everything he plays is so firmly in the pocket. Not the most innovative player I grant you, but the guy has such a nice touch with his axe that it sets him apart from a lot of other players IMHO

I can always tell when its the Kraz playing when I hear him the same way I can identify BB King, SRV, Zappa, Jerry, Trey, etc
Frank Zappa

John McLaughlin

Eric Krasno
To answer the OP, Phish fans are most definitely the most obnoxious. Some of my best friends are huge Tool fans and are also assholes--not obnoxious

I've seen both bands live. I've seen Phish multiple times live. Tool has the better musicians on the whole and Phish puts on a better show.

I personally think Trey is kind if overrated nowadays too. The last few shows i got the motherfricker was botching his own guitar parts and then chuckles about it. It kind of annoys me.

Paige rules without a doubt though
1. George Porter Jr
2. The Marsalis Family (Branford, Wynton, Ellis, Jason and Delfaeyo)
3. Dr. John
4. Terrance Blanchard
5. Britney Spears...kidding
I can eat the shite out of some soul food

Also I tend to request "easy on the ice" which a friend of mine insists is n-wordish
Dunkaroo's for the mothafrickin dick suckin win

eh...I can take or leave Louis Jordan honestly. He was no slouch though
Prince deserves the acclaim Michael Jackson gets IMHO
Louis is the man!

The world can really kick your arse sometime and Pop's music pick you up, dusts you off, and tells you "Its gonna be alright, son"
fat girls need lovin too

put they gotta pay
Feel free to include reasons why and suggested listening in your answers gentlemen
Derail away my friend! I'm bored as frick on a Sunday night. Lets het the conversation started
Word. I love the stuff he did with Merle Saunders the most. Quality jams
Zappa's solo on "Watermelon in Easter Hay" from the Joe's Garage album makes me want to believe in God

I still don't though haha
Which is better in your opinion, Jerry with the Dead or Jerry Band
It's a tough/vague question I know. Just curious who the Music Board this is important.

Mine has to be Frank Zappa. The guy was untouchable. Countless studio albums, thousands upon thousands of the most unique original music ever written, and the mofo could peel your face of with that guitar! His bands also had some of the greatest players in history too!

Favorite albums of his include: Joe's Garage Acts I, II, & III, We're Only In It for the Money, Sheik Yerbouti, The Best Band You Never Heard, Roxy & Elsewhere, and Studio Tan

Who you guys got?

Good bands come from all around, friend

What are the state of Alabama's original/unique contributions to music?

We're talking genres and groundbreaking turns in the directions of music's evolution here. Not individual bands

Fwiw Bham and Mobile are great towns with great musical venues

Bama doesn't belong sorry
No particular order:

Louisiana ( Nola, birthplace of jazz, funk, American pop culture, etc)

New York (cultural hub for the world, lots of jazz and classical)

California (LA, major recording epicenter)

Mississippi (birthplace of blues and Elvis)

Michigan (Motown)

Tennessee (Nashville country, Memphis blues)

Illinois (Chicago is jazz's second home)

Kentucky (Bluegrass)

Colorado (Boulder has a awesome scene)

North Carolina (Asheville also has an awesome scene)

Honorable mentions:

Missouri (Kansas City was a jazz hub, Branson

)

Florida (St Petersburg, Miami, and home to a ton of dope arse festivals)

Hating on Obama while defending G Dubz is like...

It's not "like" anything, it's just being a hypocrite

Vote Libertarian, people
