Update. The deer was only 40 yards away when shot was taken. Same deer was caught on camera on our lease. I’ll try to upload the pic. Hit him low in the brisket.
For further explanation. Head was up. White patch on his neck. Dog tracked him all the way to the creek. Creek was full. Brought the dog around to the other side, he’d act like he picked it back up but then would just keep doubling back.
I was shooting a 270 Win. Short Mag. 150 grain. Silver Ballistic Tip.
Slow morning, 9:45 only deer of the day comes out. Nice 9 point I’ve been after. Only gives me one shot before he disappears inside the tree line, he’s facing me head on. Put it at the base of his neck and take the shot. He immediately buckled and falls back in the trail, kicks a few times, then still. I look at him through the scope, give him roughly 4/5 min. And then I stand up to rearrange my chair that I had to maneuver to get the shot off. I hear and see him get up and run a dead sprint through the woods and disappears. No blood where he originally laid, we give him a few hours then fan out in the direction he went. Randomly stumble upon blood 100 yards away. Continue to follow blood trail for 625 yards (GPS) till we hit the big creek and another lease.
Did he make it?

Update: deer made it. Caught him on trail cam on lease last night. Think I caught him low in the brisket and just shocked him. I was shooting a 270 Winchester short mag. For all you “pro” “low percentage shot” folks out there the deer was 40 yards. Typically I shoot all my deer in the neck broadside or not. I took a shot I’ve taken 10-15 times before and never had an issue. All in all your all entitled to your opinion. Happy hunting.
Looking for some ppl to run with on Xbox. Have around 30 wins.

Wait, so we break the all time LSU single game rushing record twice (almost a third time) and you want to fire the o-line coach. Gotcha..
Was up by 2 a few years back with only defense left to play on Monday night in the playoffs. Defense can have negative points (have to give up 40 with no sacks or picks.)
Just took them out of the lineup. Stat corrections on like 3 players and I lose by .5
Came here for hand bras, left disappointed.
Live in Lake Charles.

Like stated the Bayou Rum tour is pretty neat. Otherwise the casino area of the Golden Nugget and L'auberge have plenty to offer even if your not into gambling.
Bold prediction, as in one we are not hearing a lot about? PJ Fleck.
Rising guy in coaching that'll see a big time program come calling soon.
Casual fans would hate the hire.

Nick Fairley per PFF

Posted by Tuesday on 8/24/16 at 9:36 am
"New Saint Nick Fairley leads all DTs this preseason in run stop percentage at 30.8%. Has 4 run stops on 13 run defense plays. -PFF"

Small sample size, but still some good preseason notes.
I was on the road for work and was listening in. Just took down in my notes some points out of the interviews. Just contributing to the board cause I know how eager I am for content this time of year!
The only defensive player interview was Adams. I inserted Miles cliffs first in breakdown.
Offense interviews over. Coming up, Defense & Les Miles.
Anyone wanting to take a listen can catch LSU Camp Tour on XM College Sports. Interview with Miles, thoughts on Aranda's scheme, Fournette, expectations, QB play, etc. 2 HOUR Show

Cliffs coming..

Les Miles interview:
Excited to get camp started and deal with the "necessary evil that is camp." Big Cat drill is designed to break it down to a one on one matchup, and how to win it. Having White (like Mathieu) at nickle allows them to disguise pressure. Aranda is a teacher first. Guys have really taken to him. On having coordinators on the sideline.. "Oh that headset will still work." There's some sideline responsibilities they won't have so they can focus on their respective sides of the ball. Says Harris's confidence and poise is evident. Learning to take what the defense gives you. Les says he's going to coach the exact same way honestly, consistent with that, it wasn't going to change in relation to pressure at end of last year. Great relationship with his players and staff. On addressing team about social issues, says he asked for their (players) opinions. Thinks they've handled the situation the right way. Registered the pulse of his team, and gathered how they felt. This time of year he has scratchy voice, sleeps very little but a really fun time of the year right now.

Aleva Interview:
Passionate fans. Likes hearing opinions from them. His and Les's relationship better than its ever been, won bowl, recruiting is trending the right way, best staff ever assembled under Miles in his opinion. Seeing kids come back shows their confidence in Miles. Most excited to see Brandon Harris on Offense. Says he's turned the corner in his opinion. Most excited to see Aranda's overall impact on the defensive side of the ball. Giving back $11 million to LSU through football this year. Fournette a special of a kid he's been around in his 40 years.

Malachi Dupre Interview:
Team is putting in work, getting better everyday. Looking forward to one on one match ups that having RB stable will give the receivers. Unselfish, understands when you have a guy like LF & DG that you have to use them. Gets tips & encouragement from Jarvis & Odell. Says that the main thing they told him is patience, and how LSU prepares you for the NFL. Team couldn't be happier to have Miles back. Feels like Harris has improved tremendously from last year, says it will show this year. Knows they have a chance to be special on offense. Having White at the nickle will be special, says he's such a smart football player. Best cornerback he faces is right there in practice. Deepest team that he's been a part of while LSU, but they have to show it on the field on Saturdays.

Ethan Pocic Interview:
Teams putting in work while managing the heat & humidity. Since surgery actually feels better range of motion, and squatting more than he ever has. Motivation to block for LF. Says LF is great leader, pushes the team to get better, great football IQ. Oline feels responsibility to help him break records. Miles is always having a good time off the field. Since surgery, feels more flexible, really helps in being a taller center. Couldn't imagine playing for another coach. See's confidence in Harris growing by the day.

Colin Jeter Interview:
Team is really excited to get season started, can it feel it at practice. If offense executes they will turn some heads, from wide receivers and TE perspective. Has evolved and grown as a person in his journey with his Moms situation. Seeing Miles at the JuCo camp and meeting him was a special experience. Miles handled the pressure at the end of the season with professionalism, came to put in work for the bowl game. Most excited about the depth and returning guys coming back. Aranda is a guru, ready for him to show the world what this LSU defense can do.

Jamal Adams Interview:
Fournette hasn't paid his bet on the steak dinner pick 6. Aranda is bringing a new scheme but relatively same for him and his style. Great at disguising pressure in the new system. Thinks White will also thrive in the nickle role. Says Harris seems more comfortable, and has confidence now. Thinks he'll be unbelievable this year. Having White & Beckwith back is huge, was really happy when he found out. Says LF is the best player he's ever played against. You have to have a plan when facing him. LF can do it all, catching out of the backfield, pass blocking, etc. Thinks ppl forget about the talent at wide receiver position. Have stereotype of not utilizing them, but this year will be different from what he's seen.

Leonard Fournette vs. "The Field" (ESPN)

Posted by Tuesday on 6/14/16 at 9:16 am

LINK

Alex Scarborough: "I respect the heck out of Jalen Hurd. I think Nick Chubb is as determined a runner as any I've seen the past few years. And I believe that Bo Scarbrough, whom I've followed since he was an underclassmen in high school, has the chance to be special."

"But, look, this is Leonard Fournette we're talking about. This isn't some mere mortal."

Can't get enough good reading material at this time of year. For all the betters out there, do you take Fournette or the field for the Heisman? (With or without your purple and gold glasses on)

*key word: "maybe"*

In the article he has both Fournette and Adams making his All-American team. Re-watching some games from last year pre-snap Adams is the closest thing we've had since Mathieu. Constantly see him diagnosing plays. (Auburn Game)
We all know what Mathieu brought to special teams, but comparing just on the defensive side, does he finish with a better year than Mathieu's last? In my opinion he can.
Yes, will keep updated at conclusion of every half inning.
