re: Could you sack Zachary Mettenberger ?

He's not just going to stand there and let you try to tackle him. He would be able to throw off a vast majority of the respondents.
As for the head on tackle drill, most of them would be the proverbial bug splattered on a windshield, but, let them feed their egos.

re: Passed a fake narcotics checkpoint this morning. Weird.
Posted by We Will Win Again on 4/14/15 at 6:28 pm to Scoop
There is not such checkpoint. The police are waiting at the exit immediately after the sign and not on the highway. A lot of guilty but stupid folks will think they are saving themselves by exiting - only to be pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at the sign at the end of the exit ramp or for not staying completely within the marked lanes. If you don't fit within the profile, you'll still get to move on. If you do, you can bet a drug sniffing dog is close at hand.

These so-called "high school" teams are simply conglomerates of all-star players. They have a significant advantage in playing legitimate high school teams, but seem to get ranked as a "high school" nonetheless.
Many of these players dominate against the lesser talented players of other teams. But, when they run into somebody who is as good or better than they are, you see a bunch of crappy (and missed) shots and turnovers, not to mention fouls.
Simmons holds his own against the other "all stars" but no one should presume that he'll be a man among boys at the college level. He will have good games and he will have atrocious games (which our fans will use to claim that he's "overrated"). He'll just be a freshman who will be playing against a bunch of opponents who were all-stars at the high school level and many of them will be older than and have more experience than Ben.

They're different sports. I will say, some of the women on these top college teams can shoot better than a lot of the men.
A tenacious man to woman defense would destroy the girls' team offenses. There would be countless fast breaks off turnovers. There would also be an untold number of blocked shots. The women would also have a very difficult time stopping the guys from pounding the offensive boards.
Having said that, I am pretty sure that some of these female players would play a pretty good one on one game against many (but not most) of the high school male players.

It's the same bunch of lunatics that absolutely cannot accept a defeat in any sport at any time as if God, Himself, has ordained it that LSU should never lose and all of our opponents are just predisposed to be slaughtered. Thus, if we do, then it's somebody's damn fault. It's a coach or player that cost us a victory and is causing the entire world to laugh in scorn at us for losing.

Texas A&M is as much a part of this suit as Chavis is. They probably counseled it's filing.
If Chavis wins, A&M wins. If Chavis loses, A&M doesn't lose anything it wasn't planning to lose.
re: What color is this dress?
Posted by We Will Win Again on 2/26/15 at 10:19 pm to Dorothy
Some fellow a lot smarter than me (and one like him may be already be in this chain but I did not see it) indicates that the color changes as you move your screen back or forward. Sit in the same position. Gradually move the screen back on your notebook or laptop. If you see gold and white, it will change to blue and black. If you see blue and black, move your screen forward gradually. It should change to gold and white. It is a matter of perspective.
Problem solved, it seems, and it explains to me why I first saw it one color only to see it the other color on my next pass.

re: coach jones does not like to use his bench
Posted by We Will Win Again on 2/25/15 at 8:48 am to tigerpaw08716
Thank you for finding something to criticize the coach for. We haven't had an appropriate LSU post game until some idiotic "fan" complains about something.
Of course, had Jones put in the bench players and the final victory margin was only, say, 8 or 10 points instead of 22, then some other of our fine "fans" would have griped about him not calling time out enough.
Oh, and it's not like these bench players don't get to compete against starters during practice, thereby gaining the experience you don't think they get.
I just don't know why the outcome of games bother people so much that they have to express themselves immediately on the Internet.

Posted by We Will Win Again on 2/21/15 at 3:39 pm to bayoubengal225
I don't think any of you critics watch anybody else's games but LSU's. I've seen North Carolina's coach Roy Williams sit idly by as his team was on the short end of an extensive run by Louisville on national television recently. Same thing for Mike K. at Duke.
Runs happen in today's style of basketball game. One team's 8 point run somehow turns into a 12 point run by the other team. Just WATCH basketball on television!

He's a poor in game coach. He has Musselmann on the bench and doesn't let him contribute. The guy is never even standing in the huddle. I don't think Johnny even knows what a grease board is since he doesn't keep one on the bench. His use of timeouts to break a run is really confusing and his offensive sets leave a lot to be desired. This team is hugely disappointing and shouldn't have 6 SEC losses. This is a team with tournament talent but will be sitting in the NIT. No way they can win them all until the Arkansas game or beat Arkansas
Here the OP and his ilk sit. Miserable, just flat miserable over the fact that a college basketball team lost a game. Thinks they'll just hit the Internet to express their misery; might as well offer some professional opinions about the coaches and players, too. Surely, there are others (yes) who likewise get so intensely bitter whenever an LSU team loses a damn game.

The LSU fan base truly is populated with morons.
This will certainly manifest itself during every baseball game this season - just like it does during every basketball and football game. We have idiots who think that every game should be a one-sided game. Oh, and the other team should never, ever score a run. I don't know why any of our opponents ever show up if they already knew - like some of our fans - that they should lose every game by no less than 10-0.

There is no way in hell that this is accurate. I don't know 5 people in 1000 who pull for Alabama over LSU in the Monroe area.
The representation that this "poll" is accurate makes me skeptical of everything else in the poll.
And, frick to whoever believes it, too.

Trust me, if we had won the game, people like the OP would have gotten on here to complain how - due to poor coaching - we didn't win by 10 points or more. Folks like the OP always have someone else to blame for their discontent (and, they are always discontent).
re: I don't see how Johnny is a bad coach.
Posted by We Will Win Again on 2/7/15 at 10:00 pm to UnAnon
Quite a few of our fans cry "bad coach" every time we lose a game in any sport. For that matter, that is exclaimed even we win if the expert fans think that we should have won by a much larger margin than we did.
These idiots assume that the other teams are so inferior to us that they ought not even play the games.

re: Why can't this team shoot free throws?.
Posted by We Will Win Again on 2/7/15 at 8:13 pm to TigerFan244
It's natural to feel frustration seeing one's favorite team miss free throws. However, when you focus on how other teams shoot free throws, you realize that we aren't that bad in comparison.
Take 12 for 19. That does not look bad at all. If we had shot that, I don't believe anyone on here would have complained.
It's what Alabama shot. Double that and you get 24 for 38, which is just one measly FT more than our 23 for 38 FT percentage.

I recommend that everyone who refuses to refrain themselves from criticizing the basketball team, its coaches and its players on this site take time to watch other games of other teams on television. Just pick out a game involving two teams where you don't care who wins. Then, pretend that you're fans of one or the other of them.
I guarantee you that you will see the same kind of ball play, including turnovers, missed free throws, and missed easy shots. This is the type of play that is systemic with today's version of basketball. This style begins in grade school and is "developed" more and more as the players age.
Go ahead and pick out a so-called great coach, too. Watch his teams play like crap from time to time.
I would hope that we'd stop being so condemning of our own players and team.

You will find two or three varieties of bite guards at WalMart in the area where toothpaste and toothbrushes are found. Do not get the kind that you have to boil and make it shape into your mouth. Those are more for dental protection a la participation in sports.
You will see an immediate difference once you put one of the guards in your mouth. I do not believe that you need to expend a bunch of money to have a dentist particularly make one.

Any one of us might have the same thoughts expressed by any of the "Chicken Littles" during LSU games but have the restraint to avoid racing to the Internet and exclaiming our discontent with every missed shot or turnover, ad infinitum.
It's the phenomena of bulletin boards. Once upon a time, one had to keep his little fits to himself or to those in the room with him. Now, folks seem to feel that they must gain ratification of their fits via rant messages.

Walmart will not replace the battery unless it's a brand of watch they sell.
Go to the Batteries + Bulbs store. They sell and replace all kinds of batteries. It should be a little less than $9.

I completely disagree about the defenses. I think that the players today make a more concerted and consistent effort to play defense today than they did in Jordan's day.
I still think Jordan scores 30 or so per game, though.

re: everyone always blames JJ's coaching
Posted by We Will Win Again on 1/10/15 at 9:02 pm to earl keese
A lot of people overestimate the value of the impact that a coach has on a game. When top players are having a bad game (and it may be because of breaking up with a girlfriend) or when the players on the other team are having career games against you, there's not much a great coach can do but ride it out. A coach can call great plays but the other teams luckily defends them. Many fans seem to think that a coach should be able to snap his fingers and everything resets course. They seem to think that a great coach means certain victory EVERY SINGLE time a game is played. So, they become vocal about what crappy coaches ours are because we don't win EVERY SINGLE time.
re: Death to the fade route
Posted by We Will Win Again on 12/24/14 at 4:27 pm to wildtigercat93
It's like the seemingly obligatory run into the middle on first and goal - even if you're on the 9 yard line. There's some coaching law that says you've got to waste a down up the middle. The same coaching law says that you absolutely must attempt one or two fade route passes on second and third down. Fourth down is the FG attempt.
I hate the fade. I wish someone would do a statistical study that shows how many time the pass is incomplete or intercepted versus the number of times that it results in a catch.
