you're right. I lived in houston and visited Lafayette, BR and NOLA quite a bit for work…no better place to eat than NOLA, IMO. i think the germans and scandavians in Wisc culturally weren't into spice.
this guy is right. not like the scout team D at Wisc has a guy like Hunter…if we did, he'd be starting on the D-line for us.

much more worried about pass blocking LSU's D line than run blocking them. our LT is very athletic and held up pretty good vs Clowney. our RT is enormous with huge wingspan but he's a guy that can get speed rushed on

still will be an NFL player, but not lights out in pass protection
melvin gordon and james white both went over 100 yards rushing vs Cocks. Wisc had 293 rushing on them. I wonder how many teams had two runners go over 100 yards in one game vs cocks since spurrier has been there...
yeah the big TE for UNC dropped a pass in the end zone that would've tied the game in the last few minutes with the extra point to go ahead. In fact that same guy dropped two or three wide open passes in that game.
quality out of conference opponents?
tcu had 4 wins last year
UNC was 4-4 in the ACC in 2010
Washington was 5-7 in 2009

those teams were not quality my friend

who does Floyd "money" Mayweather like in this contest?
wow, did he really say that? he's a true freshman. how the hell would the know anything about anybody's speed? that's really an ignorant thing to say

they clearly didn't prep him enough on how to handle interviews.

Don't have a problem with saying "you (Wisc) should feel disrespected"…the second half of that is laughable though and who really cares about his opinion any way
yes, lack of quality wins. like Ric Flair says "To be the man, you gotta beat the man"

Big Ten West is weak, I actually agree. However, you didn't exactly manhandle the 3rd best team in the division (and 5th best team in our crappy league overall) one we beat 28-9 in their stadium.
I agree those teams are bad. and, really we have made a living out of beating the piss out of everybody beside Ohio St and Mich St in our league recently.

back to Gordon….what about 190 vs Arizona St? and 143 against the SEC's very own Gamecocks?

all I can say is put MGIII in the backfield, with say, Aaron Murray and he shreds any league in college football.

he runs against an 8-man or 9-man box a great deal of the time. Certainly did vs South Carolina and ASU.
LSU gave up 100 plus to whoever Colonel Reb's RB was and 500 plus total offense

just cherry-picking one game out of the season like that dude was doing with Gordon vs Ohio St…LSU's rush D is always good. will be solid again this year I'm sure. Definitely last year wasn't as good as it has been cumulative over the past decade
no excuse for that.

on second thought, you're right Melvin Gordon is terrible.

Maybe I'll buy his Arena League jersey next season to show my support for such a sorry running back
that has been my point all along…given how bad our QB was/is and the lack of playmakers at WR, the dude going for 1600 yards and 8 yards per carry---while splitting time with another back-- is amazing.

6 carries in a half for 1600 yard rusher? that is not playing "most of the half"
I don't remember that game…I do remember that Arkansas game from that year..with Mcfadden and Felix Jones…wild game.

I was just cherry-picking a game out that has no relevance to Saturday's game, since one dude in this thread referenced the Wisconsin in Colorado game in 1995 and the originator of the thread is going back to openers in 2003.

wow
you're right--the post asked is if he is as good "as they say"…I'm saying he's very good.

a)Melvin didn't play most of second half vs ohio st. none of the 4th quarter due to injury. typically, teams with power running games do better in second half as defense is worn down.

b)what's the excuse for LSU's mighty defense getting Bo Wallace's balls rubbed on their face???
agreed. there is only 1 assistant left on Wisconsin's staff from any of those openers before UMASS last year and he was only there the year prior.

2003? Seriously? the current players were 8 or 10 years old.

using that logic, Kentucky fans could still be thrilled they beat LSU in the National Championship year.

How the f did that happen, anyway?
you've gotta be trying to yank our chain, brah

Wisconsin and "Bama were tied with the most 1st round OL's drafted over the last 5years going into this year.

5 starters from the 2011 team were drafted

we probably give up more sacks than we should. but hell we got a qb back there that is as mobile as an EZ boy recliner
i never thought about that, but you're right.

the UW staff didn't trust him to pass block, so pretty easy to key on him when he's the lone set back.

I read that OC Andy Ludwig will use him and Clement together on the field. now that, I like
I gotta buddy here in NC that loves Heels hoops, Florida State football and the Cowboys in the NFL! whadda joke!

well I've driven from Houston to Milwaukee…it's a long f-way! I've driven from Houston to Lafayette, BR and NOLA many times…very doable. Unless you gotta stop in Sulphur to get rid of some of that Houston mexican food….then all bets are off

tons of LSU fans in and around Houston that will get a lot of the tickets.
it's ok if it was…legitimate point and badger fans if they are truly objective should have that thought in the back of their heads too.

I definitely do.

One thing I'd say though, is he can't control who we play. Is he supposed to fall down after a 10 yard gain against umass?

he also can't' control our pitiful passing game, which has made life tough for some good wisconsin backs over the years
travel really well. drink a helluva lot. loud. spend the whole day at the stadium area…very much like LSU

i don't think we'll have tons of fans though. not a big alumni area in H-town. too far to drive. people out of $$ after 3 rose bowls, a couple B1G championship games and a final four this spring. plus weather will be really nice in WI around Labor Day. People like to break up cold Wisconsin winter by going to bowl games.
I don't think he'll run all over LSu at all. I'd say 108 yards on 22 carries.
UW's kickers have been shaky the last couple seasons. this true freshman from Brazil is going to handle the field goals. I guess they say he's got an incredible leg and made a 56 yarder in practice.

punter is ok but not exceptional.

kenzel doe is our midget return man. he returned one 91 yards for a tuddy vs south carolina in bowl game last year. he's not trindan holliday but he's solid. led big ten in kickoff return yard average last year
agreed. they seem to wear allwhite in games that matter, OSu, Arizona St, South Carolina…oh wait, we lost all those
