Sweet! Makes me miss my undergrad days.... lived about 10 minutes from the AT and could jump on it whenever I wanted.
Used to tear up some huge bedding females with a plastic crawfish. I say go for it.
Lol keep dreaming. LSU was better than I thought but you saw some really crappy State basketball during the first 30 minutes. With our ACC schedule you don't even make the tournament.
LSU got a helping of NC State **** tonight! Sorry about that, but it was time for one of these to go our way
I guess that's WV camerawork for you.......

Elmers Island accessibility

Posted by mt2sea on 3/6/15 at 4:35 pm
Can a 2WD (car ) make it far enough down the access road to make the walk to the inlet area even remotely reasonable?

re: Anyone experience this....

LOL this is seriously one of the worst pains. Glad it's been a while...
Treble hook on the top of one of the knuckles on my index finger. If that's the worst I've experienced to date, I'll take it.
Well, beggars can't be choosers but.... Tarpon.

But I'd trade that for all the red drum I can handle

Honestly, just about any person you meet that has private propery or a lease will give you permission "after the season". Think of your first year as a test:
Kill a few, respect the land/landowner, and you will be invited back yearly as "one of the family". If you ever screw up (ie. rut up the roads, litter, or leave a gate open) forget about going back on that property.

Nice, I'm glad to know there are receptive landowners around here. And having been very selective of the few individuals allowed to hunt our farm year in and year out, I certainly try my very best to cause none of those problems and despise it when others do.

where to hunt coyotes

Posted by mt2sea on 1/6/15 at 10:52 pm
So how can I find a place to coyote hunt in LA (preferably somewhat near Baton Rouge)? I'm still fairly new to the area and am not yet familiar with locating public land/agreeable landowners, having done most of my past hunting on our family farm. Thanks

I'd hit the beach for reds (planning to drive back down soon myself). Mullet on a ff rig.
People definitely duck hunt there but I don't know any first hand info about it.
I grew up and lived about 30 minutes NE of Durham, NC for over 20 years. Vance, Person, and Granville counties (among others) are very rural and all within 15-45 minutes and offer outstanding hunting opportunities (great deer, good turkey). There are also numerous lakes and rivers in the area. Kerr lake, which is a little over an hour to the north east of Durham produced the new world record blue cat a few years ago, and the lake also has outstanding striper/bass fishing. 2-3 hours to the west and you're in the NC blue ridge mountains, 3 hours to the east gets you to the NC outer banks, which offer up some of the best saltwater fishing in the country (inshore, surf, offshore).

Beer in Baton Rouge?

Anyone recommend a place with a decent beer selection other than Calandros? I'm talking beer/grocery store, not bar.

Throw a picnic table in there, insert picnic table umbrella, add beers to table

Got to the beach around 1:00 this afternoon. First big drum hit at about 1:05! Landed 3 big reds total and 5 of those lil shite catfish. Additionally had a couple big bites but didn't hook up.
