Everything I’ve seen on Griffin has him at about 200 pounds currently. Getting to 230 by fall seems like an impossibility while maintaining his athleticism. Maybe 215 this season, 230 as a sophomore.

You think 7 out of the top 25 proves success? Or what about 4 out of the top 25 the year before? You said if it didnt work out this year you dont know if he will get a chance to fix it.

1. Every final four team was in the top 13. Fact.

2. It not working out would be something like a final record of 9-3 or 8-4 and missing the playoffs. I DON’T KNOW if that would get him another season. But there’s a chance it wouldn’t.

It’s wild that suggesting building through HS might not be the winning formula anymore or suggesting that there are risks gets pushback. Look at what’s happening in CFB right now. It’s not rocket science. Building through the portal is quickly becoming a VITAL piece of being a championship program. Is it a guarantee? No, but neither is counting on a bunch of freshmen and sophomores.

Yeah man. How about you go look at ON3's team rankings for the portal the last two years and tell me how it worked out for those teams that were ranked higher than Alabama.

Just looked at them for last year.

Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Oregon, Miami, and Ohio State were in the top 10. Indiana was 13. A&M was 16.

You're right. There's no correlation between the transfer portal and on-field success.

Furthermore, where did I say that Deboer needed to win a natty or he'd be fired? Nowhere. You pulled it out of your arse.
Thank you. I think we had to get to 40, and I think that roster has 43. Sam Mitchell I remember entered the portal but he could have come out. I'd imagine there was a little movement over the break, but I'd think it will be sorted out by now.
Low production guy, very little twitch or explosiveness, but he's a warm body. Maybe your coaches can pull the best out of him.
Hard to say those losses are of no consequence when the were experienced guys and we have very little experience returning for next year. Now maybe they weren’t worth what they wanted to be paid in our eyes. That’s a different story.

Hell we just signed an elite edge in Griffen

Griffen's frame does not suggest edge at the college level. I think he's a sideline-to-sideline player that flexes out to rush passer in certain situations.

Wild times when Ole Miss is outbidding us

This season is going to tell us a lot. Deboer still is buying into being a HS recruiting program primarily. There are many dangers in operating that way, namely being you end up with an incredibly young roster MOST years.

If it doesn't work out this season, I don't know if Deboer will get a chance to fix it. It's hard to imagine Ole Miss having more to throw around than us, but they also are philosophically going about this a different way.
Click on roster, all you get is the coaching staff and support personnel. I know spring practice started already.

of Haywood/Lloyd is moving, sitting or platooning.

They’ll both get to be on the field when Carroll is lined up in the Wildcat.

The other day it was reported we had 73 on the roster

On scholarship (as of last season). We have way more than 73 on the roster. IF we fund 105 scholarships you can simply expect many of those “last 20” to simply go to walk-ons from last year, or PWOs added this year.
Well the clear difference is that he will be earning millions of dollars. I mean I don’t care either way but it’s a much different scenario now than it was 5 or 6 years ago.

Maybe we will get a Duron Carter spotting on campus soon.

Titus Ryan too.
Do we even know that Latham is coming back? He had a pretty serious injury, didn’t he? Plus he’d need a waiver. I feel like he was already a 5th or maybe even 6th year guy last year.

So, Smothers shouldn’t want an OC who was fired by an NFL team yet he should go to a program whose HC was fired from an NFL franchise because of general incompetence. A franchise who had Julio Jones and Matt Ryan. Your logic is lacking.

One of those things happened quite a while ago, and Sark has had really explosive, and generally consistent, offenses since he returned to college coaching. I think Grubb is probably good, but his one year back so far from the NFL wasn't that great. Even comparing him and Sark as offensive playcallers at this point in time is kind of ridiculous.
This makes sense. He can provide depth on both sides of the LOS. Also with his length, he can play tackle and guard at the same time.

Who exactly are these pretty good ones on defense that CKD let walk? Serious question!

Let's just agree that they are average.

Who is replacing them?

Like, I want to be a sunshine pumper and be positive, but we are 10 days into the portal cycle and we have done very little to replace all of the experienced guys exiting the program. That, if you are a fan who wants the team to win at a high level, should be pretty concerning.
“Investigating.”

Sure. I’m sure whatever guardrails they put up will stick and won’t be overthrown by a court somewhere. Because that’s not happened at all in the last four years.

The NCAA finally got so tired of getting pummeled in court that they now allow anyone to transfer as many times as they want with no penalty. They aren’t going to do anything about NIL.

Another question I have is do these players even go to class anymore?

Almost every class has an online option. That used to be for remote students, but now even students that live on campus basically have the option to never (or rarely) step into a classroom.
