re: Uncle Earl's closing

The fella that runs Claitor's owns that whole property. We used to sling BBQ out of Earl's and park a food truck on his corner, but I long ago lost his number. If anyone knows him ask about it. We had alot of fun working there, place was wild.
I stand corrected, this does bring back memories of the old TG&Y, maybe Danny's Fried Chicken?
Call me out then -

PROOF

Shwarma plate $22
Grape leaves $14
Drink $3?

$39 with tax $43...do you tip for good sevice? I do.

$50 all day...maybe more I don't remember.

I appreciate the thought that goes into a well made automatic watch - everything from Seiko to Patek. I don't love the Swiss brand circumvention or other issues that come with it, so I'm very selective. I buy and sell on the secondhand market, making improvements if needed along the way. Its a small hobby, and I've made small hobby money off it.
The Winn Dixie at Hooper and Joor is also changing hands. I went there this morning and they are rearranging the ailes and doing stuff with scissor lifts in the ceiling. They also had all WD store products 40% off so I loaded up a cart with pantry staples.

This used to be the only grocery store in Central. It's older than me, and I'm pushing 50. My Mom is pissed, I'm hopeful for the change.
Last time I went to Albasha I paid nearly $50 for a shawarma, grape leaves, and iced tea. This is like 90% rice, garbanzo beans, and lettuce. I love the food but I just won't do it anymore.
Boudreaux's served Shrimp Mac at my sister's wedding last month. It was fantastic. I've never made it but would sautee cleaned shrimp in butter before adding to the mac and baking it off.

I have made Lobster Mac, also delicious. This is a whole different process though.
I knew I was getting old when I went to the eye doctor and she told me "we don't call them bifocals, we call them progressives."

Another sign is being approached by the hearing aid lady when in line at Costco.
Ours was broken when we bought the house. I had to dig it out with a prybar. We replaced it with an undercounter ice machine.

Did anyone try them? They are the size of a baby's arm. I've never seen anything like that caught locally but I'm not very educated on it.
I've owned just about every type of knife from Henkel to Shun, Global, Dexter, a Cutco, and a Japanese carbon steel I'm actually afraid to use in case of damage.

Over the last year I've been replacing pieces with mostly Dalstrong. It's all over Youtube and Amazon so I was skeptical, but they are surprisingly nice and a great value I find.

I would go with an 8" chef knife. I own the Shun and the Dalstrong below, you can't go wrong with either. The Dalstrong is heavier, which I like. My knife roll is also linked. You'll come in well below $300, or you could also pick up a nice pair of shears, a Dexter slicer, or Dexter filet.

I've owned two sets of wireless thermometers - 1) Thermopro Tempspike model that would drop connection repeatedly and need to be reset; 2) early gen Meater that turned into a brick after some firmware update. Both went in the trash, probably $300 worth of hardware.

I'm currently using a Thermopro TP20 with a standalone base that is reliable and accurate. My thermometer and cell phone should not interact in any way.

is this real?
I'm allergic to fresh cut grass...literally. Skin welps, runny eyes and nose then a cough, and finally a long bout of bronchitis if I don't cool it. Call me a p*ssy if you like.

I did my own but gave it up years ago. My neighbors today are all elderly. We have a 4-plot on the neighborhood corner and all use the same guy for 10+ years. He charges me $80 bi-weekly, and I routinely tip $20. So ~$200/month for 1-acre with steep ditches and many obstacles. It would take me a full Saturday and leave me miserable. I'll miss that deal when it's gone.

He helps cleaning up bushes, beds, and trees in off-season. We give a very nice tip before Thanksgiving, and even had his family over for a crawfish boil. My in-laws started with him, he is basically part of the family now.

He offers down-on-the-luck guys, including parolled convicts, an opportuniy. I did that when I ran my own business and can understand the sentiment. Never any problems.

Look for a guy like this. They are rolling around everywhere.
I went to high school with Stormy. Scotlandville Magnet circa 1993-5. I have a yearbook with her photo. Out of all the engineers and scientists that school churned out, a porn star is the most famous of the bunch.

When my buddy got married we did the party at Gold club. She was semi-famous by then and on tour, we specifically planned it out. We sent buddy on stage and she did the bachelor's lapdance.

After close we all hung out in the parking lot a bit and caught up. She was driving some supercar none of us could afford. I don't agree with whetever politics, but she's actually a pretty cool chick...or was then, no idea now. My Stormy story of the day -
Man, sleeping til 7 or 8 AM is wild to me. My first alarm is 4:15, second 4:30. I'm usually wide awake an hour earlier, years of plant life and commute, different lifestyle I guess. I wake before 4AM on weekends without the alarm. I work with a guy who says I sleep too late and his normal wake up is 2:30.

I suffer insomnia about once/week and its becoming more frequent. Wake around 11-1AM and sleep no more. My Mom suffers too, and says its only downhill from where I'm at. I can make it on 3-4 hours but less will probably get me killed on the job. When I have a bout, the next night I'm usually down 6-7 hours. I can't take THC and refuse to try the prescriptions. I think my body tells me what I need.

My routine is bed at 7PM, TV with sleep timer and very low volume for one hour. Black out curtains closed. Small snack of nuts or seeds. No touching the phone and I'm out. The rest is a gamble but works for now.
I am an OT Baller and one of life's guilty pleasures is drinking box wine out of a red Solo cup. Yes, I am trashy.

Best blender ever made. I have a 5200 that's gotta be pushing 20 years old. One of my favorite kitchen toys. The blades are still sharp and the container looks pretty good, no idea how this is even possible.

I did not know they make a food processor bundle. I will investigate.

edit: Nope, not compatible with my old base, which will probably outlive me.
It's sad because I love his books. One of my favorite authors is a lunatic, oh well. I'm still reading it.
