I’ve never heard of radiant barrier then spray foam over the radiant barrier (but maybe I’ll learn something new on here).
Another thing to consider is the roof shingle manufacturers warranty. I only am aware of one shingle company (Certainteed) who allows a spray foamed deck in their warranty.
Personally, I like a radiant barrier only under the plywood deck in the attic.

Primitive is a lottery now?
Last time I hunted there was for a primitive weekend and it was a free for all. Said I would never go back for a gun hunt there. Lots of humans.
I used to make a primitive camping trip there every fall break during college to bow hunt. It’s some of the most beautiful woods in Louisiana in my opinion. I always found there was a lot of sign around the rut, more than I was ever used to seeing in south Louisiana.
To answer your questions: yes there are bears. I’ve seen a couple while hunting, one walking back from my stand. They won’t mess with you. Pack a pistol if you need the added confidence, but I never did.
I can’t remember mosquitos ever being bad.
Palmetto’s; some woods don’t have many other areas have a lot. It’s such a big reserve, you can find what you like and adapt. The places I’ve hunted were never anything like a Thistlethwaite level of palmetto coverage.
Wouldn’t be a bad idea to pack hip boots, it really depends on how much rain they have received. There are some bottoms and slews that can hold water.
The gun hunts are too overcrowded for me, but I wish you luck. Don’t sleep on the CRP fields, be mobile. Id suggest bringing a pirogue / kayak. There are some areas you need to cross bayous to access.

We agreed that yes, we may save a couple hundred dollars, but once you split the cost it’s minimal per person and getting a day for the group to all pitch in time to build is hard. It’s easier to just online shop options and go from there.
It seems we are between the Sportsman’s Condo and Uncle Bud

Box Blind Options
Posted by good_2_geaux on 12/1/25 at 9:59 am
Our club is looking at purchasing a few box blinds to put up for our young hunters who are just getting into hunting with the parents.
Question: do the plastic roto-molded style blinds get to hot for Louisiana hunting? Do they last? Any experience with the below blinds? Are theY water/bug proof?
Trying to stay below $1500/ea. Do not need bases, only the blind.
Options considering are:
a) ~$600 field and stream multi-piece, bolt together design (cheapest)
b) RAM 650, two piece design
c) Uncle dans “The hitman V3”; single mold no assembly required
d) Sportsman’s condo bow 72in.
e) Maverick 6 shooter
TIA

Only in Louisiana can a press conference on welfare benefits (SNAP) lead to the firing of an athletic director

re: Should some parishes in Louisiana adopt Antler restrictions?
Posted by good_2_geaux on 10/22/25 at 8:08 am to GREENHEAD22
Agree. I like the idea of having a few WMA’s with tighter guidelines to allow bucks to grow.
Horns are just an easy, no questions asked, way to implement and enforce a form of kill restrictions. We all know the number of points on a deers horns doesn’t accurately represent its age.

Looks like I was late to the party. Tried them all, none are valid.
Good luck, it’s going to be cold!

-Sharpen blades
-check blade balance by placing on a nail/screw blade should be level at rest
-check blade bolt torque to ensure a blade isn’t slipping
-make sure blades are aligned 45 deg. of one another at rest,
-ensure even tire pressure,
-make sure blades aren’t installed upside down (bevel faces up, towards deck not ground)
all I got, keep us posted

Do you have spray foam under the roof sheathing in your attic?
Certainteed and OC are the only companies I know that will warranty their products with spray foam under the roof deck.
As far as which is better, each of the three mentioned are good. I’d add Malarkey as another great option. Get the cheapest, best looking, impact level 4 of the bunch
