I have officially lost faith in humanity. All of those guys need their asses kicked.

Thank you. They ruined it. I don't care for a capella anyway, but they just don't capture the intensity of the song.

What in the actual frick are you talking about?

I stand by it. In other positions, you have control over your situation. In public education, you have none. The only control you have is the ability to throw you hands up and walk out.

Not having control of your situation is a very stressful thing. Now there are obvious exceptions, particularly positions where you put your life on the line. But some could say teachers do that as well with some of the crazy arse people they deal with.
quote:

Most teachers are women. Most women are self centered and love complaining.

This. But also the fact that teaching is probably the most stressful job out there. I taught for about 4 weeks and when I quit, suicide was on my mind.

Teachers are absolutely powerless to everyone, the administration, politicians, students, parents. They get blamed for everything and have to take it on the chin. I understand that there are some people who just want to educate our kids, but I don't know for the life of me how anyone puts up with all the bullshite.

I'm a financial advisor now and my job is 1000x less stressful than when I taught. Even if the market tanks, which I have no control over, I will still be less stressed than those 4 weeks I taught.

Jindal

Basically, he guts agencies that make money to fund the government (a money pit). Higher Education is one of the only areas that is NOT statutorily protected from cuts, as in they don't have a dedicated source of state funds.

Jindal has also tried to fill budget holes in the past with one time money. Well this year there is no more of that because he has exhausted all of it.

There's more, but that's the gist of it.

I was about to ask what the hell is a brake tag.

That is despicable what those guys did.
Also this was not at a fraternity function and had NOTHING to do with any fraternity. The vast majority of fraternities are extremely patriotic, why is the fact they are in fraternities relevant to this at all?

I'm going to second this. Most fraternity members, particularly in the South, would at the very least offer a veteran a drink and a handshake.

Some girls have that talent, ya know, to make you keep looking. I'll go ahead and indulge her narcissistic lifestyle.

oakbourne is much better imo. Unless you're a body builder

but that's just based on the people. The gym is better at reds

Know a few people who work out at Red's. All I ever hear them talk about are the old men who hang out virtually all day in the locker room blow drying their junk.

I went to grad school in Lafayette and the two things I can tell you for sure is the food is amazing and they have an abundance of talent. Good luck to you.

I enjoyed all three. The ending for 3 wasn't as horrible as people say, just disappointing. You think that the choices you made actually make a difference and they don't.

Just take the games for what they are, a fun space opera with shooter & space magic elements.

Hopefully he'd keep his mouth shut so his mother doesn't find out. But if he doesn't, then I know I'll have to put on a show of coming down on him.

And I think LTM makes a good point. Low-paying jobs generally attract applicants of a lower socioeconomic status, and people of those classes show higher statistical correlations to criminal/trashy behavior.

Increasing pay/educational requirements would result in more thorough screening/hiring processes, which would better protect students.

Totally true. More pay/high standards= more higher quality applicants. There will be more applicants in general, but raising the bar will get better people. The lazy HR Dept will just have to screen more. And yes, HR Dept's are lazy.

It's all about where you're gooooo-iiiin... at Delta College.

so they secretly dislike themselves and use humor to cope?

I know that John Candy was a severely depressed person due to his weight.

There was actually a study done on this. Don't ask where or who, I forgot and am too lazy to look it up. But this was their finding. Most of them are actually very depressed and use their humor as a barrier. Hence why many of the funniest ones OD- they are usually the most profoundly depressed.
Gotta girl I take Jiu Jitsu with selling Plexus. She doesn't push it on us at practice so I don't care, but half her damn feed is that.

Also had the Limu cult try to get me to join. They say they're "retired" but trying to push people into buying and selling miracle juice looks a whole lot like work to me.

while i agree to a point, i dont think there was near the number of cruel and mean people out there 20-30 years ago as they are now.

Population has grown since then. Now the proportion of cruel and mean people to decent folk may or may not have changed, I don't know that. I think the prevalence of the presumably being on camera all the time has made some people act out in order to get online attention. Those people who may not have acted that way before. I'm not an academic, maybe someone can do a thesis or dissertation on this.

You intend to insert your penis into her cavities, stick eachother's tongues into eachother's mouths, drink lots of alcohol on her tab, and maybe even flirt with the waitress while you have your hand slipped up her leg under the table.

I like where Chad's mind is. Do this. Seems reasonable.

Rephrase- I don't feel obese. I also move like someone 30lbs lighter than I am.
This makes me sick. I am obese on paper but don't feel like I am. I don't feel like it's anyone's responsibility to make me more comfortable. It's my own. I work out and attend Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practices. Get off your lazy arse and do something. If you can't run, walk, if you can't walk, hobble. Use a damn hand-bike, anything.

I also used to work with a morbidly obese woman and she acknowledged her weight. She never wanted any special accomodations except a little extra room because she's "grande".

Definitely NOT a disability.
quote:

So let me flesh out a vein of thought I am seeing here...

State governments should not be in the higher education business. People who do not utilize colleges and universities should not be required to pay for them.

So make LSU a private university then?

Look, I get that waste should be dealt with. I'm all for that. But not at the expense of having a world class university. I don't want the Southwest Airlines of colleges.

In Louisiana the entire system is too large, and resources are spread too thin among too many schools. But because of POLITICS, nothing will ever be done to kill off any of the piglets at the teat.

Everyone knows this is the problem. It's the 800lb gorilla in the room that noone wants to bring up. I am from Alexandria and if you even mention shuttering LSUA to save money for the entire system, you will have committed political suicide.

Truth be told, each piece of the LSU and UL system is a boon to their respective community and noone will vote for consolidating, even if it would be the best thing for all the University Systems, as well as the State as a whole.

We need less Universities, more Community Colleges and maybe *MAYBE* one more private college (to add to Centenary, LC, Tulane, Loyola, Xavier & Dillard)
