2 things:
1. Reagan said it best about liberals not being ignorant, but knowing a lot about what isn't so.
2. The lowest form of evidence-based practice is "expert opinion" because it's biased and relies much on a fixed mindset that has a superiority complex.
Anyone who resists change because they staunchly believe research that is debatable or poorly done and they resist because "that's the way we've always done it" when the results have led to a literal epidemic of obesity and poor health/disease does NOT know more than you unless you're talking about what he believes.

So when are we going to stop paying for people on food stamps to eat processed junk foods and sodas? We pay for this crap and then pay for the medical costs of obesity.
This new food pyramid is likely paving the way for food stamp reform and possibly school lunch reform.

I took Bama and the points (mistake), but UGA will beat OM by whatever they want.
IU is legit and Cignetti is the best coach in CFB! If Bama can cover, it'll be a miracle.

Lately when I do a good job, my stomach drops and I feel like I'd be better suited doing the same good job for myself.
I own a business and employ/contract people like you. Grass is always greener, or "I'm not doing that task for what I'm being paid (or not being paid)," and, worst of all, "that's not my job" type person. people think that small to mid-sized business owners are all making multiple millions or even a million/year... I thought my boss was before I became her competition. You get paid last after all the expenses that you didn't foresee as an employee. And you do things for clients that have NO real ROI other than keeping the clients happy.
quote:
I get fed up easily. Even when I do a good job, there's a sense of meaningless that creeps in.
Your perspective in this isn't a good one. If you're sick of doing remedial tasks that feel like they're a waste of time or meaningless, get ready for being a business owner when you deal in bull shite ALL DAY LONG! You can't just turn your back on clients and business because they're a pain in the arse.
quote:
It seems I can't manage to work for others.
This is all you do when you own a business!
quote:
I want autonomy to set up my own systems and do things my way.
This is a real thing and a good perspective. Depending on your industry and size of your business, you will absorb so much pressure from payroll to clients wanting to feel like their time is more important than your time, that you need a truly solid "why" for your endeavor. If you don't have a rock solid reason beyond I feel like wasting time at work for myself is better than someone else, you will hate owning a business because all you do is waste time on satisfying client's ridiculousness. People in remedial jobs at your client's business want to feel important, so they invent ways to complicate your work so they have a way to look down on you and tell your what to do so they feel a sense of control over you, but you just have to deal with it.
If you view your business as one that makes a real difference in people's lives and the community, and you feel that you will do a better job of it than the competition, then go for it, but word of warning - It's more work than you can imagine because you're virtually never off the clock, and the level of bull shite rises to epic proportions.

If you include Brendan "All in" Allen from Covington, LA (but currently living in South Carolina I think), He would beat the absolute shite out of just about EVERYONE in the state of Louisiana.
He's 6'2" and walks around much heavier than his fighting weight. He's a black belt in BJJ so if a bigger guy gets a hold of him he would just snap one of his limbs.
He's in his prime as a professional cage fighter at the highest level of competition and is a top 5 ranked contender at middle weight.
I'm pretty certain this should end the debate.

Does LSU not give as much resources to the football program as anyone else. We are getting dragged for paying BK too much, LSU's facilities are as good as any other program and NIL $ is a big reason Lane is considering LSU.

Well this simply isn't true. I swear our fans have a delusional, self inflated view of our school. It's a great opportunity, but it's not even close to the best opportunity.
Why do you consider LSU NOT on par as a football program as any other school in the country?
They've won as many titles as Ohio State this century (the modern age of CFB)!
LSU has won more titles than Clemson, UGA, UT, OU, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Miami, FSU, UF, UTenn, UW... in the last 25 years. The only team with more is Bama with Nick Saban, but that opportunity isn't available currently. You could easily argue that if Saban had stayed at LSU, the Tigers may have been the MOST elite program in the modern age of college football, but I don't like IFs.
There is no meaningful metric to NOT include LSU as one of the most elite jobs on par with all but maybe Bama, but that job nor Ohio State are open or likely open any time soon.
Not only the on-field football success with wins, respect, relevance and championships, but LSU athletics off-field relevance in social media and sports personalities and the nationally and internationally recognized athletes in football and other sports that elevate the brand of LSU athletics.
I will never understand the self-loathing, low T perspective that a large portion of our fans have. LSU IS ELITE, and the support, standards and results are as high as any other football program.

Well, except on-field success both recent (SEC championship appearance in 2019 and 2022 and National Championship in 2019 with the best collegiate offense ever assembled) and the program's historic success.
And, well, potential future success. A uniquely fertile recruiting base with no other P4 schools within a 250 mile radius as well as some of the best facilities, NIL and fan support for success in the Country. 5 of the best NFL receivers were born within 75 miles of Baton Rouge, and that type of skilled talent isn't going away.

Are they solvent? (you're not)
This is a farse. LSU could pay Kelly's buyout and hire the highest paid coach and still support facility renovation and a competitive NIL without much issue if they need to. Just because LSU's fired AD gave a terrible contract to Brian Kelly and the admin is negotiating with Kelly's hostile legal team who's spreading slander to leverage the university doesn't mean LSU is broke.
quote:
Who is the AD I will be working for?
Verge Ausberry, a football guy who's fully committed and will support the football team as the bell cow of the University. You can talk all the shite you want about him, but I assure you he's fully committed to LSU football and whoever is the new coach.
quote:
Will I have to tolerate meddlers?
This is LSU's biggest problem RIGHT NOW because of a high profile dumb arse in the governor's mansion, but it will all be over once they hire a coach. This hasn't always been the problem. Saban, Miles, Orgeron, and Kelly were not meddled with, but this was a unique time when LSU was without a president and the head coach was fired midseason making the meddling seem like more than it really is. Any time a politician (especially a republican LA governor who fits every national stereotype) gets involved 50% of people and all of the media will create overblown controversy.
Trust that LSU football will succeed sooner than Utenn. Even coming out of this mistake of hiring Brian Kelly and the drama that ensued, they are a better football program. Remember that LSU beat the shite out of everyone with Ed F'ing Orgeron as HC.
If Heupel or most every other HC in the country were honest, they would look at all of the advantages that LSU has including the likely current and future athletes playing at LSU, and beg LSU to hire them. In this day and age of college football, NIL money is King, but the other recruiting advantages that have always existed remain. Proximity and appearance are huge! What university in the country can show more national athletic representation than LSU? The reputation that has almost every ESPN show and social media platform full of LSU athletes.
If LSU finds and hires the right coach, everyone knows what is going to happen rather quickly.
The article is using innuendo regarding the whole "for cause" thing drummed up by Kelly's team to force a bigger buyout. Kelly's legal team are the only people saying anything regarding "for cause" or LSU isn't admitting they fired him or LSU is trying to get out of paying him!
LSU has NEVER publicly said they aren't paying Kelly his buyout or that they are firing him for cause. This is an accusation by Kelly's legal team. They are using the media to leverage LSU to force a higher lump sum buyout vs accepting a monthly payment (or the lump sum LSU offered already).
Anyone who believes this shite would get steam rolled in business and high leverage situations because they care too much about the controversy and slander that the media vomits for the lemmings to gobble everyday.
Bottom line is that Kelly wants a lump sum vs monthly payments so he can go get another coaching or media job and "double dip" without losing some of his LSU settlement/buyout money. LSU offered $30-33M and Kelly's team countered with an outrageous amount of $43M lump sum and filed a suit to put media and public pressure on LSU to settle.
If they settle for a reasonable amount both sides walk away better in the long run, but Kelly seems to be demanding too much which is forcing LSU to delay and of course allowing the piglets sucking on the media tit to squeal into more catastrophe syndrome.
OMG HOW IS LSU EVER GOING TO RECOVER?!?!?!

He has wanted to coach Arizona State since he was young as it is his hometown team.[16]
If this is true, it would likely require a large sum of money to lure him from Arizona State, but I would love for LSU to make a run at hiring him.

I think he'd be a good hire.
The demand on him to show immediate results would be tough from the fan perspective. I'm not sure he would be a great fit because of the short leash he would be given.

0 chance he leaves
Even for LSU? Does he see himself winning a championship at TT? Sure, winning the big 12 is doable every year, but competing against A&M (or UT some years) in the playoffs let alone Bama or Ohio State! Does he care about in-state legend status or his ability to win a championship?
He'd improve recruiting in Texas, and LSU recruits itself in Louisiana. NIL is obviously the wave of recruiting, but relationships still matter.
I just don't know if he's the right fit at LSU, but wouldn't be opposed to it if he would leave for the chance at a championship at a championship level program. That is all with the understanding that deducted coaches and tier 1 coaches fall through.

Why is that? He's a good coach at a decent program. Is it because he wouldn't leave TT for LSU? Or because he's not yet proven enough to be LSU's HC?
You gotta take into consideration that the list/ranking at the bottom is after the deducted list and tier 1.

I get it, but I'm a fan of Diaz. He may be the best defensive mind in CFB. He wasn't terrible at UM as his first HC job. He has Duke competitive in the ACC with less talent.
I want LSU to get back to playing high level defense. Find an OC that has a history of success, and pair him with Diaz! Everyone is so hung up on offensive minded coaches.
