The phone that checks all your "wants" boxes would be the Nexus 5X; just be sure to get the 32GB version. There's a discount of $50 going on in the Google Store for it. If she doesn't mind a bigger phone (and is willing to pay a bit more) then the Nexus 6P is a no-brainer. It's better than the 5X in every way, if size is not an issue.
Anyone looking for a new family member? In all seriousness though this deal is pretty incredible, especially when you consider it adds Youtube Red too (basically ad-free Youtube with background audio and offline video capabilities).
As good as I think Apple products are (though I don't use that many personally) the recent crop of them have shown very poor design choices. Only one USB type-C port on the new Macbook, for example. Or how the new magic mouse is charged (there's a port at the bottom making it unusable). The Apple Pencil charging directly from the iPad Pro port is just begging to be broken. And now this case, which speaks for itself. Sorry, but all this is laughable at best coming from a company that prides itself on design and usability.

I'm with everyone recommending the 6P. It's exceeded my expectations in every way. You can't go wrong with it.
I would 100% recommend the Nexus 6p if you're looking at getting an unlocked phone. It's been nothing short of a perfect experience for me, and I'm extremely critical of phones. Without a doubt the best Android phone you can get right now (many tech reviewers agree with that it seems).
