D1 Non Select has almost all juicy matchups. D1 Select has a few but chalk should mostly roll through.

I think Denham Springs won state in that Babe Ruth or Dizzy Dean or whatever they played back then. Beat JPRD East and West.

Who they had
Not sure but I know they had some Shaw kids. Robbie Rapp, Kerry Carmardelle. Not really sure who else.

JPRD East/Kenner merged that 16 yr old age group into a JPRD all star team in like 1999. I think like 5 kids were drafted off of that team. Diamond, Liotta, Gaudin, Lado, and maybe one more. Like 7-8 of those kids played in college, which is impressive for a "park ball" all star team. They didn't even get out of state. I think JPRD West even beat them.
BM 1, Zachary 0 in another scrimmage. 5 total hits in the game. 17 strikeouts between the 2.

Tessie's has limited hours now. Tue-Sat, 1-3. They do takeout until 6 on Tue-Fri. I'm not sure if they still have it labeled as such, but they used to have a Wop salad that was really good. I don't think I've ever had anything bad there.
Zachary 3, BM 0
Mandeville up 6-1 going to bottom of 6, without throwing Parker or Marse. Parker seems to have an issue with his glove hand, though.
ETA: His hand seems fine.

BM is playing Zachary tonight at Zachary and tomorrow at UNO as a warmup for the playoffs. Zachary beat BM early in the season 9-7. It was one of BM's only 5 losses this season.
Looks like game 1 of Mandeville v Airline will be streamed on NFHS this evening.
If anybody knows of other games streaming, post here.

Someone had mentioned a place called Big Ez Seafood and Oyster House but I did not see that mentioned here? Any thoughts on that place?
I'm sure some people really like it, but it would be one of the last places I'd recommend for seafood in that area. Harahan/River Ridge is right up David Dr from Miley, and has several good seafood places. Quarter View is down W Metairie on Clearview. You also have Harbor on Williams. Stingrays is a bit far out but it's really good.
Several good recs so far.
Seither's also isn't far from Miley. Good food and may have music. Ground Pati also may have music. Rivershack is close to Ground Pati. Hobnobber is very close to Miley.

Have they established a pipeline with any of the middle schools and/or travel ball organizations? I would assume yes, since the coach has been there for a good bit. But, I would also guess that some of the kids still don't follow the pipeline anyway.
Riverdale isn't terribly talented but the coach has put together a decent program for what they are. They've passed up many of the surrounding public schools in baseball. They'll put some okay arms on the mound, but won't be terribly deep after the starters. They hit bad pitching but will struggle with anything above average.

Anybody got the scouting report on Mandeville
Mandeville is very well coached and they've bought in. They beat Catholic 2 of 3 about a month ago and went en fuego after that. Greyson Parker and Sam Marse are the workhorses but they have arms. Several kids that can hit. Winchester is a young kid with a lot of potential.
BM should cruise to the semis, and I'd expect either Rummel or STM. BM swept Rummel this season. Rummel doesn't have alot of scary pitching after Nugent. I don't know much about STM.
I take BM v STM in the semis on the top side.
Catholic should also cruise to the semis, and I'd expect Jesuit or Curtis. Jesuit is the more fundamentally sound team but Curtis is very athletic. Curtis will have to pitch very well to win.
I take Catholic v Jesuit in the semis on the bottom side.
STM has given BM problems in multiple sports. I still think BM gets by, even if it's in 3. BM has 3 solid starters and 3-4 trusty relievers plus some other arms. STM will probably have to beat them in 2 or use a bunch of their pitching before game 3, unless STM is deeper than I expect.
Jesuit could nickle and dime with Catholic, but won't beat them unless Catholic implodes like BM did against Jesuit in game 2. Catholic just almost never plays poorly.
BM v Catholic for the rematch. They are 2 different teams this season. BM lost all of the experienced Little League kids but this group seems hungry. They're deep on the mound and mostly swing the bats well. They start a 9th grader at 1B, they've struggled against small ball, and teams have been able to swipe bags against them, though. Catholic is obviously the best team in D1 Select, even with their own key losses to graduation, plus they get Lawrence back. To beat Catholic, you have to play almost perfect, run into some balls, and get some luck.
I don't see Catholic losing. In order for BM to win their first title since 1996, they may need somebody to sneak up on Catholic before the finals. Otherwise, it will take BM catching a bunch of breaks. Or, maybe BM gets them deep in the staff in games 1 and 2, and just outgrits them in a game 3 thriller.
Catholic sweeps BM again.

I love this time of year.

The metro area is really good in the 5th-7th grades, too (11U-14U for travel ball). And alot of those kids are playing a school schedule already at Christian Brothers, Curtis, Holy Cross, and some of the grammar schools.

How does Chalmette's lower classes look? The Catholic League schools are mostly still bringing in good classes. HC started an 8th grader and BM started a 9th grader on varsity this year. I know Curtis and Jesuit also had some younger kids get time, and others knocking on the door. Not completely sure about Rummel but they usually have good, young talent too.
BM beats Stanislaus 3-2.
Rummel beats Chalmette 11-1.
Curtis is beating Centerville 17-4 in the 3rd.

I still wouldn't have thrown him, but what do I know. BM, for example, is just piecing it together against Stanislaus tonight. Amedee threw 29 pitches. Tingstrom is in now. To each their own.
