re: baseball at bats

Ruckert has probably passed Reaves up now. Ruckert hit 3 balls hard last night. He had the error but the bat still looked good.

Harden is still probably going to have to fight for reps, since you have Braun and Simpson aside from Stanfield.

Yamin may have earned some backup 1B reps. Pearson looked like a bull in a china cabinet and he's very hot and cold at the dish.

All of these things will continue to change.

I'd play all of them again tomorrow. The youngsters played hard.
BM beat Live Oak, 11-2. Playing Prairieville now.

BM beat Dutchtown 3-1 in 11 innings.
I don't worry about the injuries/absences anymore. Not because they don't matter but because Jay won't give much info or will just grease the pig anyway. No problem with that either. I think Curiel is fine. Braun needs/deserves some reps in the OF. I think I would've played Braun in LF, but what do I know. We have 3 more games after today and will likely see subs tonight anyway.

BM beat U High, 10-4. They play Dutchtown tomorrow night.
I was dumb enough to think we had a chance to get him to campus. Jay has made me think that anything is possible with any recruit.

Knox and Hines are tenacious but can sometimes show their youth, which I'm willing to accept in most cases. I really don't even mind them being mouthy and animated. I just hate when they play stupid - stupid fouls, stupid passes, stupid shots, etc.

I thought every pitcher looked really good in spurts. After Rizy, they all had pretty good outings. We were already chasing 5 by that point and had trouble figuring out their thumbers. I'm not discouraged at all. Also, Brown threw one in the dugout that he should have just put in his pocket. That cost a run. McNeese got some luck on a few plays, too - the 2 out hit and run that goes right to the SS on top of the bag and the fair/foul ball that Yorke hit that turned into a double play.
They've just flat out choked a few years with the LL kids. Base running, pitchers losing it, errors, etc. Last year, Catholic was just the better team.

Glad to see Paz get a start. I was hoping for Ricken or Paz, and I'm sure both will pitch tonight. Cowan will probably get an inning or 2 of work. Hope to see Zion, Benge, Santi, and Lachenmeyer, too. Seems like so few innings now with so many arms to feed, which is a good problem to have.

ETA: I forgot about Noot, too. Fontenot prob also needs work. I'd like to see the Corrales kid from Barbe get the ball some for Mcneese.

I wouldn't say BM was inconsistent over the stretch that the LL kids were there, or really maybe the last 15 years. They have plenty of district ships in that 15 year or so span, some quarters and semis, and a state runner up. The 4-5 years with the LL kids was plenty consistent, but couldn't get all the way over the hump similar to the 2012-2015ish span. Overall, I don't disagree with development but they've had some pretty good kids come out of there. I'll probably miss some but just at LSU were McMullen, Kevin Berry, Deichmann, Tre Morgan, and you have kids like Keegan Gillies (Tulane) and Stuprich (SLU) that have done well after BM. I think Darrah will be a good college player and Navarro has a shot. They have a few kids there with some good potential (McClusky, Leaumont, Shannon, Tingstrom just to name some of the here and now guys and not the other underclass kids popping their cherry).

The 10 year or span after the 1996 state championship was horrific but they've been a force mostly ever since and will be. They just haven't gotten over the hump. Almost to a fault, they play a big rotation of kids to make sure they always have some experience after graduation.

They were studs at 12 but just solid in HS? I honestly lost track of them.

I know all of the BM kids from that team are playing in college. Darrah went to Arizona St, Wiltz went to UNO, Prather went to Loyola, and Rousell went to Centenary. Louque from Lutcher was coming to LSU but got injured and went to Eunice for now. Andrade from HC went to UNO, Ryder Planchard from HC is at Eunice.

I don't know about the rest as far as college goes but they were all pretty solid high school players. Spadoni at Rummel, Shorts at De La Salle, Delatte at Jesuit, and Jeff Curtis.

I still have to see this new group against consistently better competition to believe they'll be as good or better than that group was. BM returned 3-4 really good position players and 2-3 good pitchers. They play a ton of kids all year, including really young kids, so even the "new" kids have experience coming into each season.

how did BM do against concordia?

Beat Concordia 7-4. They went 5-0 on the week. Beat Teurlings, Brenham TX, Crowley TX, Sulphur, and Concordia. I think that puts them at 9-1 on the season.

WM will play Dutchtown Thursday, St Amant Friday, Prairieville and Brother Martin Saturday. Hate we play BM 4th.

BM gets U High on Wed, Dutchtown on Fri, and Live Oak on Sat. The schedule says they also play Prairieville on Sat but I'd much rather it be WM.

This isn’t even close to a classic ULL team.

Southeastern may be the best team in the state.
You'd be hard pressed to find many guys around the country dominating for extended starts at this point in the season. Cooper Moore has been pretty damn good, by the way.
