Indiana was total crap not too long ago, Cignetti just figured out how to work the system to his advantage, and the blueprint of assembling that kind of program is right there for any coach to emulate. So, with that said: if even a historically bad football program like Indiana can get it together and win it all, then I think of course a Bama team sans Saban can find their way back. But who knows, maybe Cignetti is just Saban II and this is a symptom of that rather than purely the state of CFB. It's too early to tell.

Burrow was 2019 LSU in a nutshell.

The 3rd and Golding trauma is real
I know I am in the minority, but I really think the 3rd season will be the most telling. As bad as this one ended, it was technically an improvement from last year. We actually won some games we would have lost in 2024. If next year proves to be a clear decline in team achievement from this year, I’ll be more restless and more inclined to part ways with DeBoer. The hardest pill to swallow is not having the Saban standard anymore, but we knew that was going to be the case regardless of who replaced him.
They have a Heisman QB, this is expected.
Meanwhile, Kirby Smart is YOUNGER than him and looks like this.

I think Ohio State ate up the rat poison about Miami and really believed they were the actual frauds. Not saying it’s not possible that Ohio State was also overrated, but I legit think they thought this game would be a cake walk for them.
Brian Kelly was a much more shocking hire to me for a myriad of reasons. Partially because I am close to ND fans that absolutely haaaated him at the end, but LSU fans made the argument that whatever success he had at ND should be doubled or tripled because he was now in the SEC and so they gaslit themselves into believing he would do greater things with the resources. Lane at least found some level of success in the SEC which I understand is fueling the optimism now. Still shocking BK did so little with as much as he had access to at LSU. That would be the one thing keeping me up at night if I were an LSU fan, can Land get over his own arse and actually apply himself instead of stroke the ego the entire time? Egomaniacs can be wildly successful, but they also crash and burn in fantastical ways, too. Either way, it will be entertaining.
Lowkey bothered me on behalf of LSU only because of the optics. Look bro, you made this entire hiring drama about you. You are aware everyone is watching. You can’t coach your former team right now, you literally can afford to stay til the end, you should probably stick around for the team and to keep media from spinning it. You can say it’s not a big deal, but this is a sample of the Lane-isms that over time can snowball into more and more weird choices.

LSU fans on here know how to smoke the hubris. :pimp:
Bro, why are you so obsessed with the SEC, I'm back from Christmas break and you're still spamming on here. Are you this obsessed with the Big 10?

Nobody would care; they could join the SEC, and we'd all beat their arse even during our worst seasons.
It’s not snow and ice. Now THAT would be a disadvantage, especially players used to a warm climate. The state of Alabama experiences rain and windy conditions all throughout the year, it’s not a big deal.

Some current players evidently told him to pound sand when he visited recently.

I thought I saw some official UA account (I think it was the Saban Field at BDS account) on Twitter say “and don’t come back” in response to the clip. Which I thought was kind of weird for an official account with ties to the university to publish to a former player, but okay.
50 years ago his parents really looked at him and said, “Yeah, he looks like a Kirby.”

Just pointing it out, the first achievement on each podium minus UGA is that they beat LSU.

You aren’t getting the joke.

I remember when Saban hired Lane to audit the Bama offense and tSECR absolutely lost it as the OP states. Many said that Saban had lost his mojo and his career was on the downside.

Honestly, we haven’t given them as hard as a time as we could, I still remember the shite that was said about Saban taking in Kiffin. I lurked this board in those days with my siblings. Any time there was a big recruit or coaching change we would check this board and I remember that.
Kiffin legit is where he is today because of Saban. Funny how that all works out. I will always laugh and be amused by Kiffin, but I do hope he has a great run at LSU. I kinda hope the only games he struggles with are Ole Miss and Bama, just to keep it interesting.

Two dummy bama fans worried about Lane and LSU.

I don’t know how to explain that contrary to the pervasive TigerRant belief that all other SEC fans are worried or jealous, the much more accurate adjectives would be amused, entertained, and curious—Lane Kiffin is the new purple and gold court jester. An SEC coach active on social media is gonna make those big time losses delicious. The CONTENT we are about to be served. Unless LSU restricts it (please don’t, even though it’s probably in your athletic department’s best interest). Any time there’s a big SEC coaching switch up, we get invested, but not every time is it one with the persona like LK.

I'm not sure why Alabama fans are so mad about it, but it's good to have a sense of solidarity with you guys.

I think most people are mad at Lane for how he dragged the whole thing out and contributed to the circus show. LSU fans are pretending it’s all out of jealousy, they had the same narrative with Kelly, and I feel the same way towards Kiffin as I did Kelly. Like, good for you but no thanks. We already had our sampling of him on staff and dude was kindly kicked out for a good reason, I am fine with him as a head coach elsewhere but I would never want him to take the helm at Bama. He’s got some talent but the boneheadedness and clownery would piss me off too much, I am thrilled he will be LSU’s clown, and I hope he makes them competitive.
