Thank you for making this known.
Why would this be important ? There are male PNPs, but if you must know, I am not.

I honestly forgot about this site until now, when I started to think of sites where I can reach a large number of people.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner student

I am a PNP student beginning clinical this spring. On the look for a preceptor, as this can be a lengthy process. Does anyone know of a PNP, or pediatrician who would be willing to let me follow them, beginning Spring 2023?
Out the gate?? Did you not read her response to me? I'm very empathetic; however, you get what you give.

This is true.
• I work in a hospital now, so while I know I love nursing, I know that I will also want to further my education. I'm young, no kids, and still have the financial support of my family...so why not?
•You are right, some hospitals will hire new grads and give them a very intense orientation, I happen to live by one that grants that opportunity :). The associated school requires 1 yr of ICU experience (2 yrs preferred), so years and years of ICU experience is not always needed.
• I love the bitter nurses who hold so much envy and animosity towards students/new grads who have aspirations of furthering their education. For most of them, life has gotten in the way, so now they talk down on those who have the chance to do what they could not.
So what life circumstance prevented you from furthering your education "lsunurse?" Kids? Failed marriage? Unforeseen circumstances.... Just thought I would ask :)
•And shall I decide to go to CRNA school, it will be because I LOVE the field of anesthesia, not because "I hear they make money." Trust me there are more ways to make six figures, that don't involve 8-10 years of schooling, or thousands of student loan debt.
Also for an added note:
I happen to be the daughter of 2 successful business owners, so when I'm ready to make the big bucks, I know exactly who to refer to. Let's just say that this CRNA $$$$ you speak of, is chump change compared to what I've been exposed to, and will only be a mere stepping stone to bigger and better things.
Good night :)

It is, but I would like to job shadow before I begin school for it, to make sure it is 100% a field I want to go in.
Kind of like how I shadowed a nurse before nursing school :)

Baton Rouge
I'm in nursing school (graduate next Fall). I'm interested in CRNA school. Can anyone refer me to a nurse anesthetist to job shadow?
Offer still up ?

Thanks for the advice. Did you work in a hospital here in Louisiana, if so did you get great ICU experience?
OLOL requires 1 year, but prefers 2 yrs
LSU requires 1 year
LSU requires 1 year

Thank you! I've considered PA & MD, but I don't want to be in school for that long, or incur the large amount of debt. I'm also much more interested in the nursing model, than the medical model.
I'm on the junior level at Southern University School, set to graduate Fall 2018! So far I've completed Med surg clinicals, and this semester is Peds and OB!
I have 1 yr left in nursing school, and I'm interested in becoming a CRNA in a couple of years. With that being said, I would love to job shadow a CRNA, but I have no idea on where to begin to to find someone to shadow. Does anyone know someone?
Also those who know CRNAs, do they love their jobs?

You make that here in Baton Rouge?
I tried one of the units, and no one ever picked up. I could have been transferred to the wrong area though.
OLOL, BR General

Does anyone work or know a nurse that works in Same Day Surgery (Baton Rouge General) or the Inpatient Postoperative Surgery unit (OLOL). My nursing school doesn't do a clinical rotation in surgery, and I would really love to job shadow in either of these units.
Nurse practitioner

Looking for opinions or reviews on nurse practitioner programs in Louisiana. What's the best school, the worst ?
Just because a nurse chooses to go to grad school and further their education, does not make them any less adequate to care for "the sick children and babies" than any other nurse.
That's one of the reasons I wanted to become a nurse, so many oppurtunities!
*I have looked at the competitiveness that I will be faced with going up against nurses who have more critical care experience, and I think I'll just apply every year to I get in... worth the shot lol ??
*I graduate in the Fall of 2018.
*I have volunteered/job shadowed in the PACU & Mother Baby Unit at Woman's Hospital, and in the NICU at Ochsner Medical Center. I have my CNA certification, and plan to work as a CNA during the summer, probably at Woman's Hospital; mainly due to the fact, that I interviewed there for a CNA position, and would have gotten the job, but I was only 17 at the time (18 is the minimum age requirement). Then once I'm a junior in nursing school, I'll probably work as a nurse tech, and hopefully establish some connections!
*If you don't mind me asking, what nursing school did you graduate from?

Yes, OLOL requires minimum of 1-year full-time (2 years preferred) recent experience as a registered nurse in an adult intensive care unit and LSU requires minimum of one year, full-time, critical care experience within the previous two (2) years at the time of application to the program.
Yes I was thinking the same thing, but then I have to take in consideration the expenses that would come with moving to New Orleans. I already live in BR, so if I did go to OLOL I could live with my parents, not to mention the 1st two semesters are online, so I could keep my job. Ahhhh so many factors LOL

When did I say I hated nursing? Are you insinuating that all nurses who go back to school to further their education "hate nursing?"

No, probably not!

It's pretty standard for a CRNA to make $150k and up. There is actually a private practice in Alexandria hiring CRNAs with minimum pay $150k. There is another one in Shreveport with minumum pay 200k, and maximum 230k.
Well I'm actually still in school to become a RN :) I do plan on saving most of my money when I do work as a RN for CRNA school; I don't want to take out too many loans.
