Two games within two hours of each other today, one for my son (bball) and one for my daughter (soccer) resulting in two losses. One was an avalanche brought on by some really shitty luck, one was a "blew it in the 4th quarter" kinda deal with plenty of its own bad luck.

Two kids left sobbing and searching for answers after their games and all Daddy-o here can do is offer them some ice cream and let 'em spill their guts. Then try to remind them why they play at all.

And all I can think of is knocking back some hard liquor but I gave up alcohol for Lent. Goddammit :lol:

Commiserate with me fellow parents and tell me your tales of crushed dreams. How do you handle disappointing youth sports results? None of it really matters of course but try telling that to a kid who's bumped and bruised with nothing to show for it.

I might be alone in this but Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda ever. I appreciate it more and more as I get older. How they managed to pack such a fantastic world onto a tiny lil Game Boy cartridge is just beyond me.

First game with:
- proper minibosses
- unique dungeon music
- BOMB F'IN ARROWS

Hilarious dialogue. Marin is bae. The story is phenomenal. WHY THE shite AM I CRYING AT A frickING GAME BOY GAME?

Seriously. Nintendo had no reason to go as hard as they did with Link's Awakening, but they did and I love them forever because of it.

Also an unintended side effect: the screen skip glitch. My favorite glitch in any video game. Retrieve Bow-Wow after the first dungeon, do the glitch, and just wreck like 90% of the map. So, so fun.

Anyway, LOZ1 occupies plenty childhood memories too. Outstanding game, if a little dated.

Transporter is probably my #1 guilty pleasure movie ever. No movie has ever made me cringe in embarrassment at how absolutely fricking stupid it all is while simultaneously making me hoot and holler and laugh my arse off at how much fun it is. When it was over I had the biggest shite-eating grin on my face.

Wife and I both have Mazdas (2015 Mazda3 and 2018 CX5). They've been fantastic cars for the 6+ years we've had em.

And yes, that soul red is the prettiest paint job on the road. Nothing comes close.

I'm not some car nut either, I just appreciate a good ride. I would love to own American but Mazdas are as solid as they come.

Calling it merely a "great game" doesn't really do it justice. It was arguably the best championship game performance ever.

And I think folks lump his 2005 Rose Bowl performance in there too. He accounted for over 800 yards and 9 TDs in those two games. Texas really had no business being competitive in either of those games but VY dragged them across the finish line both times.

The list of QBs who could just single-handedly take over a big game like that with almost no help from their skill positions is exceedingly short. Cam and Vick are maybe the only others.

I said in this topic from the 2024 season that Indiana was legitimately playing like the best team in the country (though admitting it might still be a ruse).

Every now and then a historically bad team will rise up to start 8-0 or 9-0 by fattening on a weak schedule and maybe running some gimmicky offense before they run into a team with elite talent and it all comes crashing down.

I never felt that with Indiana going back to last year. They have been as solid and steady as any team in the country since Cig took over. Hell, I think they were the #3 team last year behind OSU and ND, the NCG participants who coincidentally gave Indiana their only losses.

According to this, Wisconsin has 50 of the top 100 drunkest counties in America. Literally half from one state.

71 of the state's 72 counties rank in the top 300, out of 3,150. (Pick up the slack, Burnett). That's 98.6% of WI counties at or above the 91st percentile.

Wisconsin would lap the field multiple times by themselves.

No shame in a silver medal here, Region 8 :cheers:

XLIV obviously has several memorable ones for the Saints but one play that always stood out to me was Manning's moonball to Clark to convert 3rd down during that 3rd quarter drive where the Colts take the lead.

We're looking very closely at the 530As coming out later this year. Basically IRAs for kiddos. We're currently funding 529s for our two children but if the advantages are there and if the ability to roll ever comes to fruition it'll be an attractive option.

DFW checking in. This is one of the weirdest "storms" I've experienced. There's been very little wind and the rain has hardly been heavier than a drizzle. From behind a screen I can hardly tell anything's falling. Yet every time I look at the ground it's a little bit whiter.

Power's fine at the moment but I have about a half cord ready to go if needed.
