re: The War over JD Vance
Posted by JLivermore on 1/14/26 at 1:50 pm to Pettifogger
I'm more convinced it's going to be Rubio in 28. They're sending JD out to get beat up on partisan domestic matters--scoring some points for the base, while not exactly endearing himself to the middle--while Rubio gets to be the foreign policy boss and Trump's right hand man.
To Marco's credit, he's done a great job with all that has been put on his plate--I can see why he's earned Trump's trust, I'd feel very comfortable with him as the next nominee and POTUS, he would win '28 in a landslide.
Having said that, they're going to regret using JD as the punching bag if Venezuela etc turns into a NeoCon boondoggle. Next President is going to be Marco, JD, or a Dem. Best to put both Marco and JD in spots where they will succeed.

Israel/ME is worried about strikes uniting the protesters...with the regime that's slaughtering them by the thousands? The hell?
I'd think NOT coming to their aid while they're getting slaughtered would 'unite' them into feeling hopeless and backing down, something that would kill any chance of regime change for decades.

Dec 6th NO CCG. Move up Army/Navy Heisman/other awards to that weekend
Dec 13th - Round of 16
Dec 20th - Round of 8
NYD - Quarters
Jan 8th- Title Game

Absolutely.
Any program with a billionaire(s) backer will be able to compete at the highest level, as long as they are willing to back that program.

They'll either get behind Vance, or he'll decline to run and they'll all get behind Rubio.
If neither runs, it's not looking good, and they'll run a sacrificial lamb to take the L

re: End of the first half Steelers/Ravens: why not go for three easy points?
Posted by JLivermore on 1/5/26 at 10:11 am to real turf fan
Ball was at the 7 or 8, then BAL held Freiermuth in the endzone so it was moved to the 1 for the final play of the half.
They had to go for it at that point. I though the play call was chickenshit, trying to run around them instead of right at them, but you have to go for it there.

I wonder if there is more to the story, such as the superstition angle.
I just can't see 1) someone as meticulous as Mr. Roberts allowing that kind of oversight to happen, and never be fixed 2) Cliff holding a grudge against Nicklaus 3) Jack being afraid of Cliff, esp after all the Champions dinners, and seeking advice re: Muirfield 4) Augusta National being anti-Nicklaus.
Did always find it interesting how Palmer was cited as Roberts' favorite. I always assumed Cliff got along best with Ben Hogan due to their personalities being so similar. Arnie flying his plane over Augusta must have driven him crazy  but the ratings, growth, and money he brought to professional golf more than made up for it.

Its the SoCon wing of the party trying to pounce on an opening, like always.
Most of them think it's an opportunity, while a few are simply becoming aware that they've they've got no path to victory in '28, just like '16, '20 and '24.

re: Crowder with Reasonable Fix to Housing Affordability

-Build the shite out of multi-unit housing, flood those markets with supply.
-Keep the single-family house as a relatively scarce asset, a great long term investment.
Owners of average apartments, condos etc will take a bath. If it's luxury and/or great location it will be fine.

1.70 down the hill, still above 3.00 up the hill. So fricking frustrating.
I know it costs more to get it up to Evergreen and Conifer but it's not like they're hauling it to Siberia.

re: How do people not like Ron DeSantis?
Posted by JLivermore on 12/4/25 at 9:30 am to ghost_rider10
Think we all need to understand that whoever runs in 28 won't have the charisma and people skills that Trump possesses. It'll need to be a different kind of candidate and campaign.
Rubio has his own style that works, but it's a 180 compared to Trump.
JD and DeSantis are smart, incredibly effective leaders, but they could both use some help in the charisma department when it comes to swing voters.

I wonder how many would write letters, but when it was time to mail it they'd throw it away. Gave lunatics more time to come to their senses vs social media.
re: Who will take the MAGA baton?

Vance will shock everyone by not running. Rubio will be a two term President, and Trump will get behind him to help ensure we stay united. Tucker etc will provide some token opposition but nothing too hard in the paint.
VP is a great spot but also a tough spot. Rubio's getting all the plum assignments that are in his wheelhouse and is knocking it out of the park. JD is great, but he needs more assignments that align with his strengths if the plan is to get behind him as the nom.

re: Who's worse as neighbors ... Hippie Liberals or Rednecks?
Posted by JLivermore on 11/24/25 at 10:49 am to PelicanState87
Hippie/Redneck, both are usually friendlier, more tolerable when they don't feel like they're a minority in the area. I can't stand either when they act like their culture and way of life makes them an endangered species and they get territorial. If you don't like the neighborhood, move.
Hippie in a red area = pain in the arse
Redneck in a blue area = pain in the arse

Why does every student need to have free meals-- So the kids who do need them don't feel singled out?
Just give every kid a preloaded card, have parents put lunch money on it. None of the students would know who was getting free meals.
