Mitchell Robinson decommits from WKU

Posted by LSUhoopsfan2 on 12/1/16 at 12:43 am
He has signed his NLI, but is looking to get out of it.

If he somehow ends up at LSU, the Tigers have a top 15 class that would also include Galen Alexander and Brandon Rachel.

Emmitt Williams has also visited Miami

WUT?

Consensus Top 125 player in the country.
Shammond Williams is a former assistant at Tulane and is Mitchell Robinson's godfather. He is now an assistant at WKU

Rick Stansbury is the head coach at WKU, is a lights-out recruiter and was recruiting Robinson for Texas A&M, where he was an assistant before taking over the Hilltoppers program.

Stansbury was also the longtime coach at Mississippi State.

Quannas White is also an assistant coach at WKU. He coached at Tulane and spent eight years heading up the Louisiana Dynasty AAU program. He played at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans.

That whole staff is loaded with coaches with Louisiana/Southeast ties.

And don't forget, WKU is a traditional power in college basketball with a rabid fanbase. WKU has 42 regular season college basketball titles and 43 20-win seasons.

People care about basketball there. It's not like LSU, where people are wondering who the backup catcher is going to be in baseball season.

Hoops is No. 1, and it's not close.

??Sorry For The Wait?? #HookEm ????

Febres is a 4* shooting guard from Houston who just committed to Texas.

Texas is also projected to land Charles O'Bannon Jr., another wing.

One has to wonder if the Longhorns still has a spot for Brandon Rachael, a four-star wing that appeared to be leaning toward Texas.

Brandon Rachal

If LSU can come in and land Rachal now, it would have two four-star players on board with Galen Alexander already committed.

Tyler Junior College forward Eden Ewing will take an official visit to LSU this weekend, per source

Originally signed with Nevada

Now at Tyler JC

Was ranked No. 28 among players in Texas in 2015 by TexasHoops.com

Tuscaloosa was great.???? #RollTide

Center that LSU is after had essentially the same thing to say about visit to Baton Rouge.

Alabama appears as if it will land a couple of other bigs. The longer this plays out, the better it looks for LSU. Smith would be a key piece to put next to Galen Alexander

LSU visits PG target Cedric Russell

Cedric Russell ?@bucket_getta1 Sep 12
Great visit with @LSUBasketball today!

Had the same thing to say about ULL, VCU and La. Tech.

Former LSU commit who is still a target for PG spot in the 2017 Class.

Texas A&M freshman Deshawn Corprew has been ruled a non-qualifier by the NCAA, sources told @CBSSports.

LSU was involved in his recruitment.
Alabama, LSU, Tulane and UAB will host Smith on official visits. LSU is up Sept. 15.

Cincinnati, Memphis and Ole Miss also offered.

Alfred Hollins would be a second top 125 prospect to add to class that already has top 75 prospect Galen Alexander.

But you also have to note that those top coaches have MUCH DEEPER benches than us.

That makes sense.

Good luck with that on here.

Just bash the coach who averages 20 wins a year, brings in NBA draft picks, has taken LSU to the NCAA tournament and also been won a game in the NIT and would have had LSU back in the NIT last year had LSU not turned a bid down.

But can Jones actually coach ? Obvious answer is NO

80-51 at LSU.

Finished at .500 or better in the SEC every year at LSU.

Obvious answer is YES.

You mean someone like Bruce Pearl?

He's 9-27 in conference play at Auburn and is 28-40 his last four SEC seasons.

Oh, wait. Rick Barnes?

32-40 in conference play the last four years in the SEC and Big 12.

Avery Johnson?

8-10 in conference play his first year at Alabama, worse than Jones has done in any of his four seasons at LSU.

A reasonable take on LSU basketball.

Clap, clap, clap.

I disagree that Jones is mediocre. You don't roll out winning season after winning season if you are mediocre, but I see why that thought is out there.

Not the best Xs and Os guy. I buy that.

I had gotten to the point where I didn't think anyone had a clue about hoops on here.
Terrible?

The SEC isn't the top college basketball league out there, but terrible is way over the top.

It can be attributed to his solid recruiting (which has slowed down) and the fact the SEC is a terrible basketball conference.

Wait. Is recruiting part of being a college basketball coach?

The SEC is not terrible.
Amazing how a coach who is not any good at coaching took LSU to the NCAA tournament, has a winning season in every year he has been at LSU, has averaged 20 wins a year and finished third in the SEC in each of the last two years.

Amazing.
