I'm a bit older than some but Nebraska had players on scholarship for baseball and basketball just waiting to play on the line of scrimmage for the football team. I may be wrong?
Everything was about football at Nebraska. They didn’t win a tournament game in basketball until the 2010s

Big Ten fans used to say the same thing 15 years ago. “We beat each other up” “our conference is just too physical”. Always had an excuse for why the B1G had a losing bowl record

League isn’t close to the old days when Saban and Miles teams would go out of conference and just wear teams out for 60 minutes.
Remember how Alabama did Michigan State in those two bowl games? That era is over
SEC isn’t easy, but I also don’t want to hear how the SEC is the deepest it’s ever been, it’s not.

No “alpha” receivers. Poor running game. No fearsome pass rushers.
They were ranked 9th in the country and I’d say they are probably 9th best in everything: from talent to coaching. Most teams are worse, but a handful are clearly better
