That pissed me off last year. SVG wins the roval by 15 seconds. 5th win as a rookie. And no one cared. We’re watching the battle for 8th instead.

I’m looking forward to SVG taking another step on ovals.

Plus I’m anticipating the SVG/Zilisch battles on the road courses will be fun.

Cup driver changes

Trackhouse:
Shane van Gisbergen changes from #88 to #97
Connor Zilisch replaces Daniel Suarez. #99 is gone. Zilisch will drive the #88.

Spire:
Daniel Suarez replaces Justin Haley in the #7 car. Haley will drive for Kaulig’s truck team, which will run Ram.
I’m still team full season. The chase is a step in the right direction, but I still don’t like it. They did increase the points for a win. I’d argue they didn’t increase it enough. 20 points should be it. If they did an f1 like increase for the top ten, it would be better. It would push the guys near the front to go harder. If I’m in 4th, why push for 3rd if I don’t think I can win?
Plane crash in Statesville. It was Biffle’s plane. I’ve seen some reports that state biffle and his family were on it.

Hope they’re wrong….
A race isn’t official until halfway. Why give points at some arbitrary number that’s less than halfway?

Halfway points to the top ten should replace stage points.
This feels like jimmies last title. Irrelevant for most of the title race. Only to get the final restart right and win the title.

I’m sure somewhere mamba smith is walking around like Conor mcgregor.

This. Denny is cursed.
I think Traylor would work for lsu. His offense is physical and lsu needs to get back to that.
I’m a fan of the guy and think he would do well, but I’ll be damned if they didn’t look just like lsu last night. Poorly timed penalties. Dropped passes with open field in front. QB throwing off back foot. Costly turnovers. Couldn’t get off the field on 4th down.

His resume is good, but this may be a bigger step than he’s ready for.

Side note, but why isn’t anyone talking about Jeff Traylor? Is he just not leaving Texas?
Mayer took a huge step forward this year both on and off the track. And last night was a huge step back to being the arse hat he’s always been. Won’t make it to cup with that attitude.
I wish they’d do a street circuit in Nola and use the Lakefront Airport.
Charlotte is one of a few tracks that deserve two dates.

Street courses are just a different type of challenge. They’re unforgiving. Chicago had plenty of passing opportunities.

San Diego looks a lot like a street track you’d see in Australia. There’s a mix of Adelaide, Gold Coast, and Newcastle in it. Lap time is gonna be important. I only see 3-4 passing opportunities. Chicago had at least 5.
I disagree on street courses. Every major series runs them. One a year is fine.

The roval should go. Put that back on the oval and replace it with an actual road course.
I like the diverse schedule. But isn’t the saying “jack of all trades, master of none?”

That describes this car. It can put on good shows occasionally. Doesn’t always do it.
NASCAR San Diego course revealed

3.4 miles is a bit long. Looks fast and challenging. Don’t see the passing opportunities Chicago had though.
I’d like to thank whoever greenlit the decision to air a truck race on a Friday afternoon at 3 pm on big Fox. Fox 8 decided to air a judge Judy rerun marathon instead. Another dumb decision involving nascar.
Look at what Keselowski said.

The guy who dominated the race got barely any coverage compared to a battle between 8th and 9th in points.

SVG should be the story from yesterday. Not a footnote.
quote:

Get rid of stages.

I’m fine with halfway points for the top ten. But don’t stop the action.

I still maintain that positions 11th on back should only be a point per position.

Points should increase incrementally inside the top ten. Like the winner should be 18-20 more than second. And 75-80 more than 10th.
I think we can attribute this to modern culture. The generation growing up isn’t as fascinated by cars as those that grew up in the generations prior. They’re fascinated by drama. The new generation has latched on to drive to survive because of the spectacle.

NASCAR is simply returning to a niche sport.

That being said nascar can blend some of what made them what they were and what they’re currently doing to move forward.

Keep the schedule diversity for one. Go back to full season points. Revamp points that heavily reward winning and running toward the front.

I’ve always thought it’s dumb that some races will have the winner earning the 4th or 5th most points.
