I don't have a problem with an anti-war stance. I do have a problem with his assertion that killing people for any reason is morally wrong but watching people get killed instead of stopping them is morally good.

But everything about Erika is weird
I doubt that.
Even if that's true though, comparing people to the mean is pointless. Everyone is "weird" in their own way. No one behaves the way we expect all the time. Judging people based on a few snapshots, especially during traumatic moments, is wrong.
I've done plenty of things during my lowest moments that wouldn't make sense and might not even make sense to me. Fishing after a pretty rough funeral, going to the movies after getting some devastating news... I would never judge someone for acting differently than I think I would act. Because I don't know how I would act in her situation and I'd rather be empathetic than judgmental.
There isn't a single person on Earth who actually believes Erika is at all responsible for Charlie's death. They're just having fun speculating and creating theories like little kids, without any regard for the damage they might be doing.

Ellison gonna get CNN come hell or high water
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think CNN is really that big of a motivating factor for anybody. Cable TV is dying, CNN is third in the ratings, it just doesn't seem that important at this point. Plus if they really wanted CNN so badly they could have just bought that company after it is spun off from WB.
I think they want the IP (DC, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc...) and they want the cable channels in order to get the sports rights currently owned by Turner.

Looks like it's official, now Netflix has to respond.

Warner Bros Discovery Board Calls Paramount’s Proposal “Superior”, Gives Netflix Four Days To Up Its Bid

UPDATED with Paramount comment. Warner Bros. Discovery’s board of directors is ushering in a bidding war between Paramount and Netflix.
The board announced Thursday that it has officially labeled Paramount’s latest $31-per-share offer a “company superior proposal,” a term with specific procedural meaning in the context of corporate mergers. Importantly, the description does not mean that the board has withdrawn its recommendation of Netflix’s pending offer to shareholders. However, the move does trigger a four-day period during which Netflix can respond.

I'll just say this and drop it because I'm leaving.
The way I read what you're saying and others with the "Jews killed Jesus" or Jewish Pharisees or whoever... Is that Jesus was forced to die against his will.
I object strongly to that language and think what you're saying implies that heavily. Now if you're just arguing semantics or something that's fine but I'd personally change the phrasing.

Then you don’t believe in Christian doctrine.
This is funny, I'm saying Jesus sacrificed himself and you're objecting to that because you think I'm trying to deflect blame from Jews or something.
Jesus came to this world as a living sacrifice. If you don't believe that then it's you who don't believe in Christian doctrine.

In order to be resurrected, one must first be dead.
That's a fact. But to be dead one doesn't have to murdered. Jesus chose to die... no one killed him.

God didn’t make Pilate kill Jesus, the Jewish Pharisees did.
No one killed Jesus and God absolutely used Pilate.

Wait, what?
Jesus wasn't murdered. The "Jews killed Jesus" line is always meant to make non-Christian "Christians" angry. It implies that Jesus is dead and didn't willingly give his life and rise from the dead 3 days later.
God used Pilate to fulfill His will. No one can subvert God's will... no one could "murder" Jesus.

Dies overt hate really need an overused word for one to be able to call it out?
I don't know.

Would that be the same as blaming illegal immigration on the Catholic church in an attempt to elicit anger towards that church?
I don't think so but maybe a little. Jews didn't murder Jesus but the Catholic church has been instrumental in illegal immigration so that's a little bit of a false equivalency. However if someone were to point that out only to elicit anger, then that would be wrong.

I can't imagine you call out something that "means nothing" to you.

I would love to hear you explain anti-semitism.
I don't think you need it explained, I will point to two examples in this thread, the aforementioned post defending the good Christian act of "segregating Jews and/or kicking them out of their country" and the Jews murdered Jesus post. The latter example meant to elicit anger towards Jews and is a gross misunderstanding of Christianity. (Also both posts have zero to do with modern day Israel)

What nuance is needed? I didn't lump everyone together, I simply noticed that the overwhelming majority of people have upvoted someone who defends "segregating Jews and/or kicking them out of their country" as an example of good Christianity.
I do think quite a lot of you hate Jews, you specifically I don't know. I would think that if you only have a problem with Israel, you'd call out those who are openly anti-Semitic and are hiding behind your cause and therefore undermining it.

There's a post on the first page of this thread defending "segregating Jews and/or kicking them out of their country", it has 30 upvotes (29 when I checked a minute ago, a new person to the thread must have just upvoted). I'm thinking quite a lot of you do in fact hate Jews and hide behind "questioning Israel".

they think theaters are still a net good.
They are a net good. There's no way that Universal could afford to produce a Christopher Nolan film if they had to rely on Peacock revenues.
Without the box office all of the major studios will have to greatly reduce their current output. That reduction would also spell the end of their respective streaming services which rely on not only major releases but also the box office to subsidize them.
The only competition left standing would be Netflix, Amazon and Apple. If you think that less competition will result in more "bang for your buck" you're ignoring history.

re: AI is becoming more and more photo-realistic

I feel like there are a lot of people conflating the types of AI that are and can be used to make these types of projects.
Generative AI, where you just enter prompts into a field and wait for some garbage to come out is definitely terrible and has no ability to replicate what makes a story human. It can only make cheap copies of what others have already created.
But AI as a tool that real people use to tell human stories is progressing and could open doors for people with stories to tell without the need for millions of dollars. The idea that someone could afford to make their own movie and bypass gatekeepers is exciting.
Corridor Digital made a pretty cool video with an AI tool that can already allow people to make a Toy Story type video with an iPhone and a computer. But it still requires skilled people, time and creativity.

It's definitely not due to a "bad" TV but there has to be something on the user end that causes the problems described by everyone. I use an AppleTV 4k and have never had a single problem with the Paramount+ app. Last night I watched the UFC fights using Google TV and had zero problems.

What?!?!? Longshanks dies knowing his bloodline is dead and Wallace'[s will one day be royalty.
That's the end result. What steps do we have to take to get there?
There's a really cool scene at the end of one of the GOT episodes. The Night King raises a dead dragon. But the entire episode is written backwards from that scene. But you don't watch the episode backwards so when watching the story unfold it's just one leap to the next in order to get there.
Longshanks dying knowing that his bloodline has ended is great. But 1. His son was gay and that was probably happening anyway. 2. Sending his son's French wife to negotiate with Wallace in person makes very little sense. 3. William having a sort of romantic relationship weakens the initial and constant motivation for his revenge. 4. It's boring.
I don't think the movie would suffer at all if you removed that storyline. In fact if he rejected her because his love for his wife was still too strong it would make for a more emotional and powerful movie.

I knew it would get a lot of nominations but never would have dreamed it would get nominations in every single category it could have been.
I'm also disappointed that Jesse Plemons didn't get a nomination.
