I’m leaving the Rant.

You guys try to be nicer to each other. Life is way too short.
Here’s some final words of wisdom from Wendell Berry.
Love the quick profit, the annual raise,
vacation with pay. Want more
of everything ready-made. Be afraid
to know your neighbors and to die.
And you will have a window in your head.
Not even your future will be a mystery
any more. Your mind will be punched in a card

Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
Put your faith in the two inches of humus
that will build under the trees
every thousand years.
Listen to carrion -- put your ear
close, and hear the faint chattering
of the songs that are to come.
Expect the end of the world. Laugh.
Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful
though you have considered all the facts.
So long as women do not go cheap
for power, please women more than men.
Ask yourself: Will this satisfy
a woman satisfied to bear a child?
Will this disturb the sleep
of a woman near to giving birth?
Go with your love to the fields.
Lie down in the shade. Rest your head
in her lap. Swear allegiance
to what is nighest your thoughts.
As soon as the generals and the politicos
can predict the motions of your mind,
lose it. Leave it as a sign
to mark the false trail, the way
you didn't go.
Be like the fox

some in the wrong direction.

Honest opinion from a moderate who owns guns. Yes there are some extreme Berkeley types who want to outright ban guns. Most have probably grown up in an urban environment where they think there isn't as much of a need or demand.
The vast majority of Americans do not subscribe to this belief, but I think most support limited regulation. You get into slippery slope argument saying background checks lead to gun bans. I own 12 guns and support the second amendment but I am not totally against background checks with mandatory gun safety for new gun owners.
This guy would have been able to purchase guns legally and pass all checks so much of this will done very little for this situation. I do think being dismissive to those who are nervous about guns creates an environment where sensibility ends on both sides. The NRA has done a great job pissing off sensible people by becoming ultra political. I stop being a supporter about 6 years ago when it was obvious they are just stoking fear to sell guns.

Sure I know that. That's because the Democratic Party in Alabama only survived because of the "yellow dog" democrats. They held the same conservative stances as republicans do today. This was the "old south" Democratic Party that only lived in local elections. The state house was still highly conservative so you are speaking of technicalities.

Looking at California on this side of the river I would say they have room to slide. They have GDP of 2.4 trillion while we are at 165billion.
Haven't seen any economic indicators that California is on a downward slide. They have actually done quite well.

There are not many well known democrats left in Alabama. Doug Jones is doing well for being so liberal but still won't be enough to beat Moore.

Your slippery slope argument keeps equating this to a constitutional argument. It is not. These statues are on public land and parks. If a municipality or state does not want it there, no matter its historical significance, it has a right to remove them.
Arguing the removal is well within your right to free speech but the removal itself does not unless it is on your property.
On this flip side, the city of Birmingham has ordered the covering of a confederate monument since the state of Alabama passed a law protecting that statue. There is your Constitutional question. Does the federal government have the right to intervene?

You started out with a great argument tying some of these characteristics with a far-left ideology but from number 7-14 you seemed to confuse yourself from the original intent of your argument, almost even supporting my post.

Because we humans are inherently flawed with an insatiable need to problem solve we often develop ideologies that try to fix societies problems. Often times this works, but there are also consequences to doing this, we also try to maximize benefit, which is usually done by those in charge of the system. This happens on both sides of the political spectrum. You shouldn't accept flaws in one side of the political spectrum without seeing the flaws in others.
