re: Has Bama lost its luster?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/16/26 at 8:02 pm to LeMarteau
Not as appealing as when Saban was there and they were the top dog or in conversation for it every year. Will wait until they miss playoffs a couple years in a row while losing 3-4 games a year to declare this. I could see it happening though
Who else thinks Lane still pulls in another qb?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/16/26 at 7:41 pm
Not a big splash but developmental guy that has 3 years or more left that is a better camp arm option than a walkon. I have a feeling he will. With starter down you need multiple guys for spring ball if nothing else so you don’t wear down your top two available guys with excessive throws
re: Personally I’m glad we didn’t get chambliss - and why would he not want to go pro?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/16/26 at 7:37 pm to SouthernInsanity
He’s not getting any younger. Best shot to go pro is now. NFL is not big on 25 year old rookie QBs when they can get one that is 20-21 years old and has 4 more years in them

At this point, as a player I don’t know if u stay even if they offered you more. You know the team will regress possibly greatly next year and you will get paid well at another school and he will be an NFL guy so doesn’t have to necessarily get ALL he can now like some of these kids do
re: Ole Miss Butthurt | Refusing To Enter Umanmielen To Portal

Eventually they will have to just let go especially if other school will pay the buyout. Do u really want kids there that don’t want to be there? How would that look to future recruits and transfers if u try to hold kids ransom over their decisions?
re: Daniel Harden predicted to start

Don’t see it at least from the start but Jay has shown if he has 4-5 quality starting outfielders he will rotate them early to where they play 3-4 games in a row and then sit one through first half of the year until the cream rises to the top. Hope he is that good. If he is good enough to surpass returning starters from a Championship team then good night we have a ridiculous amount of talent and depth on this team
re: Forget playoffs

Over half our team will be completely new with a new system one the offensive side. Could take a while to totally click. Get the 3 remaining targets we know of as of now and we will have the pieces to be really good. Think schedule is tough but most of the toughest games are down the stretch. Get through the A&M game undefeated and you have a real chance to come together and continue to improve and be a solid playoff team with a chance to make some noise. As we all know a lot of that depends on overall health and a break here and there too
For the first time since I can remember
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/16/26 at 5:44 pm
It seems like we a getting the majority of the pieces we want. Seems like in the past we would get a couple and then just miss out on several

If Thomas is as advertised before injury, then i really think him, the Maryland guard, and Harper all start. I really think Harper can slide out to RT if needed assuming he is better than Davis out there.

with getting this guy, i could see him and Thomas at G and think Harper could slide out to RT. Now go get that monster at LT and call it a day on the OL

got to be the Ole Miss LB falling next. him or OL from Maryland

I know this is just a melt and meant as a joke but people need to be careful. you can get arrested for stuff like this.

experience over talent. small school guys moving up should still be hungry and very coachable. Add good coaching to that along with the physical and emotional maturity that comes with older players. it can definitely work anywhere. too many p4 schools get to caught up in stars and all rather than the intangibles and the fit.

re: LSU gets Willtfong prediction for Baylor OL Sean Thompkins
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 9:28 pm to Robcrzy
He committed to NC but I guess didn’t sign so they are trying to flip him is my understanding
re: Baylor OT Sean Thompkins Update | LSU In Great Spot
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 8:33 pm to USEyourCURDS
Can Harper play guard or possibly RT or just guard? Think he projects best at guard but would think he could play tackle too
re: Any full backs out there?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 8:23 pm to Fight4LSU
Correct answer is Oregon guy. He will be a fb/blocking TE and may throw a pass to him every now and then when they don’t expect it.
Anyone have intel on these OL we are looking at?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 8:10 pm
I know Seaton is a stud and definitely a starter at LT. I am familiar with Harper and think he would be a starter. Anyone know if any of these others would be definite starters or just competing for starter vs depth? Like the dude from Baylor, Maryland, Western Kentucky if we pursue him and kid we already got from Kentucky? Any of those projected definite starters?
re: Yall think Lane goes after Princewill?
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 8:00 pm to Honkus
This dude is the perfect fit as we really need an experienced edge rusher that has had high production in SEC especially. Would be surprised if he went anywhere else. Put him on one side with a healthy Gabe on other side and also have Ross coming in. Could u imagine if one of them 2 have a breakout year with Prince on other side
re: LSU Likely To Host OT Jordan Seaton This Weekend | Big Game Hunting
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 7:55 pm to Meldedee
Along with some of the other pieces it looks like we have an excellent shot at getting, this guy is the missing piece of the puzzle that can completely change the trajectory of our OL next year. Would be one of the most important pieces in the class if we can get him
re: How much fun is this for Lane
Posted by Portcityblues on 1/15/26 at 7:44 pm to LesnarF5
If they are in portal they can sign as late as they want but to be here in the spring they technically are supposed to enroll in classes by the 22nd. That’s if there is not any type of extra time they give for athletes that would probably be doing all online classes anyway. Normal students last day to add classes is the 22nd.
