You all have made it well known that your to blinded by the fact that Ray Harper is one of the best coaches in the country PERIOD! So with that said, I have moved on from that scenario to try and help us all figure out who the best coach for the program would be. A retread is not the way to go. There is so much talent in the state of Louisiana that I honestly believe it should be a coach who knows the state. To bring a coach in who can't even pronounce Tchoupitoulas street or has no idea where the West bank is makes no sense. A respected coach who knows the state and the Southeast is who were looking for.
How about we make a profile for who we need and look for someone that way. Rather then a win loss record or who they have coat tailed to success.

What is so special about VCU? Each coach that has come out of there with their success has not done very well on the higher level. Why aren't we going after a coach who wins ALOT?
Why would Wade be who we need at LSU?

I am not Ray Harper. I wish people would open their eyes and see him for how good of a coach he is but this wont happen. But believe me people, Crean is a BAD decision. retread and an A-hole.
Crean would be a HUGE mistake

I can tell you all from personal experience that this guy is a total A hole. He verbally assaults his players and his coaching staff. The fans at Indiana Hated him. Hiring a coach who just got canned from indiana is not a good idea no matter who Alleva thinks he is. I am not a fan of Wade either so I hope we keep looking.

"Yippie" I will take that as you admiting your wrong about him being a winner. He is CURRENTLY GOING TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. Clearly you have no idea what your talking about. Funny you act as if you are the one pulling the trigger. NOT lol

So he isnt a winner in Division I? 5 years as a head coach and he has been to the NCAA Tournament 3 times!! Wake up bro.

Actually big guy, Division I and Division II qualifications are exactly the same. Thats why it is so tough for DII to recruit quality kids. The only difference is that DII can break up scholarships and give partials in some cases. You can not do that in Division I.

Could not win at WKU? He won two conference championships and went to the NCAA tournament twice. You guys really need to look at him harder.

Two Conference Championships and two NCAA tournament appearances with one NCAA Tournament win isn't winning?
You wont find another coach with as much of a winning history as Ray Harper.

I am not Ray Harper, Just an LSU fan, Alumni, and Die hard Basketball fan. I have friends in the business and I am just trying to point out this guy has what we are looking for.

He is a bitch? lol Well my friend, you don't know him. You may know a coach that he beat over and over again and they don't like him so you don't like him. But lets be honest, You don't know him.

He is at Jacksonville state, a Champion and IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT! doesn't seem like a bad decision to me.

After he won the Sun Belt Conference two years in a row his name was HOT and he didn't want to just Jump ship and take the wrong High Major job just to be a High Major coach. Guys close to him have personally told me that he is just patiently waiting for the right High Major job offer that he can take and build into a powerhouse. The guy is in no rush and i can respect that. His record speaks for itself. In the mean time he will obviously just keep on winning.

You OBVIOUSLY DON't know Ray Harper then. He is not a snake at all. The guys is a proven winner and people simply hate on that. Especially in the lower level colleges when recruiting is not as regulated as Division I is. He has NEVER been on probation and he does things MUCH cleaner then other coaches. You have no idea of what your talking about other then what some HATERS may have rumored to you. But in that respect EVERY coach gets hated on, its the nature of the job. He has turned down other Big time jobs in the past btw, so nobody has "Stayed away" from him.

He resigned. From what i have heard on the inside it basically came down to the AD trying to micromanage the program. He resigned knowing he could get another Job.

I am an LSU fan, Not Ray Harper. I want what is best for LSU and he is a proven winner that is not an LSU good ole boy type of hire.

Does not Matter, He is not Ray Harper. Besides, Ray has shown Growth at every stop. He has been coaching DI for years now as a HEAD COACH and continues to be a proven winner. Kim Anderson was a Division I assistant and has Missouri ties. Ray Harper is NOT coming from DII level. JSU Was picked 12th in the OVC and is now the Conference Champs going to the NCAA Tournament. Open your eyes, Before another Big time school does.
RAY HARPER needs to be our next head coach!

Ray Harper has yet again WON and is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Jacksonville State History. This does NOT suprise me at all.
I can only imagine what he could do with a program like LSU. you want the winning back? You want the Deaf Dome to be Deafening again? you want to see LSU on top of the basketball world? HIRE RAY HARPER and he will get it done!!
I am as big of an LSU fan as there is in this world, I actually love JJ but things just have not worked out for numerous reasons. Lets take this program to the TOP and don't let one of these other High major schools snag the Hottest coach out there in our back yard. His record speaks for itself!
9 National Championship Appearances
4 National Titles (2 DII) (2 NAIA)
13 Conference Championships (7 DII) (3 NAIA) (3 DI)
3 NCAA DI Tournament Appearances
There is only one coach with more National Championship appearances (9) on any level of men's basketball then Ray Harper and his name is John Wooden.
First head coach to EVER take Jacksonville State to the NCAA Tournament!
All he does is WIN!
You find me a coach with a better resume and I will stand down. Hes not a retread, hes not one of these Young new wave coaches, he is a PROVEN winner with skins on the wall.

You call Ray Harper! 431 - 137 in 17 years of coaching! 4 National Titles, 5 National Runners Up Finishes, 5 National Coach of the year Honors, 10 Conference Championships.

12 years as a head coach on the DII and NAIA level he went to the National Championship game 9 times, won 4!
Hired at Western kentucky and won 2 conference championships and went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Currently the head coach at Jacksonville State Univ and has already turned that program around in his first year.
He is a proven winner and incredible recruiter. You want to win at LSU, Hire Ray Harper

Ray Harper is the best fit for the LSU tigers and he is a PROVEN winner. We don't need any SEC retreads, or friends of a friend coaches.
I usually only read this forum but I had to speak up about this one. I was a fan of JJ but he obviously Bayou runneth over.
Ray Harper would have us in the top 10 in one recruiting period. His ability to "Coach" is first class and his record proves it better then anyone out there available.
Name me one other Men's coach on all levels of college that has been to more Championships (All Level Championships DI, DII, DIII, NAIA) then Ray Harper other then John Wooden.
