Notice there is no mention of the concept of original jurisdiction where SCOTUS is strangely acting outside of the realm of their constitutional powers. It's curious because who would grant cert in a separation of powers claim where SCOTUS could be seen as a party simply by addressing the case.

The two obvious reasons are simple. The defense does not want jurors going home and watching the trial. That and of course their efforts in this respect are also dilatory. That goes without saying.
