What’s the science behind Cheat Meals?

Posted by Tiger328 on 2/25/26 at 12:08 pm
I started at about 217 lbs at beginning of year. I have cut out alcohol altogether so far, and I work out 3-4 times a week. Usually 30-45 mins of lifts, and then 30 mins of interval cardio after. On training days I maintain 1900-2100 calories, and on rest days I maintain 1700-1900. I am now down 12 lbs and people all around me are noticing a big change. I didn’t realize how much I did until my wife sent me pictures of me from late last year.

Anyways, what are the benefits or reasons people do cheat days? It’s been tough some days saying no to a dessert or to a drink, or to a high calorie meal when I want it, but I’ve been obsessive and disciplined enough to not break it so far. But I hear sometimes it’s okay for a cheat meal every once in awhile. Can anyone elaborate?

Need Help with Dryer Duct

Posted by Tiger328 on 2/16/26 at 12:12 pm
The house I bought has a dryer duct that has 3 90s and 2 horizontal runs as the laundry room is in an interior room. It 90s in the wall, goes vertical about 10 feet (up into attic), then goes horizontal about 10-15 feet, then 90s again to the back of the house 10-15 feet (still horizontal.

I feel like I could just get someone to come and remove the horizontal sections and just go straight vertical out the roof. I have called 4 HVAC companies and they do not do this. Do you know of anyone? I am located in Ascension Parish

Me and my buddy always look for him on the first game every season to see if he’s still alive lol
Of course this pussy shows back up
Say the evidence comes out that all these powerful people did indeed commit these horrible acts. What realistically would happen to them, and what would we be able to do about it? They have all the money and power in the world to just say “so what” and we would seem to have to just deal with it
The first offer was $10k in closing costs which is higher than I want so just countering but yes we intend to stay here forever.
I bought a house in July on a 30 year fixed rate of 6.875%. I’ve been paying down an additional $600 a month just to help on principal. I have an offer from my mortgage company to refinance to a 15 year for around 5.25%. My monthly payment would be about $50 a month more, but it would knock off an additional 6 years of my loan compared to my current $600 additional payments. Just curious what others who are home shopping are finding so I can get myself the best deal

My Observation on the Brainwashing

Posted by Tiger328 on 2/5/26 at 8:15 am
I’ve always scrolled through Facebook and looked at comments on the posts just to see differing opinions. One of my friends shared a liberal talking point recently, so I read some of the comments. Now my entire feed is anti MAGA, anti ice, pro anything liberal. So to me it makes sense how an impressionable young person can think that’s how everyone thinks and that changes their behavior
I’d love some ideas for some nice dining in the Baton Rouge area for groups of 10-15 that are open on Mondays. We typically go to Ruffinos or French Market Bistro because both accommodate very well, but we are looking for more options. This is for work dinners, typically from out of state/out of country guests that we want to experience Louisiana cuisine. Any recommendations?
So I did a little more digging. I currently have a heatilator circulating wood fire box. I read the data plate and it specifically says not certified or compliant with vent free logs. Doing a little digging it’s because the heat won’t circulate in the firebox properly and get too hot and be a fire hazard so guess I’ll stick to the wood!
These threads always slow down when only the 10 midwesterners get impacted and Louisiana is out the doomsday cone
That’s what I thought too but somewhere when breezing through the directions I saw something about hardwiring in a switch

Image below shows it’s optional so maybe not

This is what was bought for me:

And this is what I currently have (flame also lit for reference for the gas starter for firewood)

My house has a gas firewood starter. I turn the valve on with the key, light the flame and once the wood catches, cut off the gas.

Well my in laws decided to buy us a ventless log set. Great gesture, but seems like a lot of work, plus there’s a switch I need to install. Is this a DIY project or is there someone specific to reach out for? I’m confident in my abilities to put the gas on, but not the electrical portion.
Yes it is mostly wet and I have cattails growing in the ditch too

Planting Trees on Property

Posted by Tiger328 on 1/14/26 at 9:44 am
I have about 3 acres with a pond in front of the house. I want to plant trees around the property to provide privacy from the road, privacy from neighbors, but also to be aesthetically pleasing. The entire part of property in the front with the pond is also fenced.

Only issue is I don’t want to plant trees Willy nilly and in 20 years it doesn’t look right, as I plan on this being where I live for the rest of my life. Are there companies or people to reach out to that can help me map out what kinda trees and where and how it will look in the future?

re: Apps for working out

I used ChatGPT. We have a gym at work with all the equipment. I prompted it by telling it I wanted to workout 4 days a week, I wanted to build strength while losing fat, all of the equipment and machines we have, and I wanted it capped at 60 minutes. It took a few iterations but it gave me a daily lift plan, rest periods in between each set, and then what core and cardio to do on that day to match the type of lift I did. It then generated a PDF that I now have saved to my phone and can look back on
My heart sank with this topic but thankfully the one we use isn’t on here
What do they use on pipelines
