re: Fiber home installation question
Posted by Simon Gruber on 1/7/26 at 9:04 pm to Dallaswho
I might run it up the exterior wall and into the attic myself. The problem with going up the wall into the soffit on my house is the cable is black, my house is white and the side the house I assume they will want to tap into is the driveway side. I think me and the wife can handle a small box on that side of the house but not a black cable going all the way up the wall. I’m sure I could get some white enclosed raceway but not sure that wouldn’t look out of place either.
Built this house 3 years ago and every single utility is on the other side of the property until this week ??

When REV installed fiber at my house I spoke to the installer when he was a few houses down. I told him how far it was from the entry point to my routers through the attic. He said they couldn't run it but he could give me enough wire to run myself and they would tie into when he came. So I took the wire and had it all run for him when he got to my house.
I could be comfortable doing this. I don’t think I could terminate the fiber myself though. Did you run it from the attic down an exterior wall to the entrance point on exterior of your house?

Doubt they’ll want to do more than drill a small hole in the soffit and plug with a slit grommet to reach the attic though.
This is my concern.
Not sure if it’s fiber to ONT or modem or both.
Fiber home installation question
Posted by Simon Gruber on 1/7/26 at 11:33 am
REV is running fiber in my neighborhood currently. I noticed the put the box for home connections on the opposite side of my property from where my current connection is.
My media closet is closer to the current connection point so the cable comes into the wall goes up to the attic and down into the media closet which is a fairly short distance.
Will they be able to run the new fiber line into the wall up to the attic and across the house and down to the media closet? I estimate it could be 150-200ft of run.

I’ve used club points to purchase guns in the past. Last year is the most recent gun purchase.
The issue is the website doesn’t have the gun available in 20 gauge. I was thinking about going to the store and talk to them but it’s over an hour drive.

Ordering a shotgun at Cabelas question
Posted by Simon Gruber on 11/13/25 at 10:12 pm
Can cabelas or bass pro order any gun from a manufacturer that they sell? I’m looking for a specific shotgun that Benelli makes in 20 gauge that I know exists because I can see it on Benellis website, but on cabelas website they only offer it in 12 gauge.
Can I go to the store and have them order it? I have credit card points that can be used at bass pro or cabelas which is why I’m hung up on using one of these two stores.

When to book flights to Italy?
Posted by Simon Gruber on 9/23/25 at 9:04 am
My wife and I are going to Italy in late April. Flying into Venice and flying out of Naples about 10 or 11 days later.
I have been tracking flights on google flights and I feel like it’s still early but prices keep going up. Delta is our best option right now for Delta comfort classic it’s around $3,800-$3,900 total for 2 ppl depending on the day.
Thoughts?

Use madden home design. They have tons of floor plans and can make changes for you.

My truck is ceramic coated and I go through a soft touch car wash weekly with no issues.
Travel Agent recommendations for Italy
Posted by Simon Gruber on 8/11/25 at 11:52 am
My wife and I are looking to take a 10-12 day trip to Italy in April. We would like to use an agent to set everything up for us.
I know travel agents are kind of a thing of the past, but does anyone have someone they recommend using? Preferably someone I could schedule a FaceTime or phone call meeting?
