quote:I don't have (or get) the "I hate everyone who does not agree with me politically" mindset. Not at all. We'd spend summers in Montana when I was a child, and I would ride over the neighboring ranches. I also did that regularly until Dad tried to F me over. Everyone there was always friendly, and I'm sure most were conservative. I'd say 80% of the time, I'm around conservatives.
So you are running from racist conservatives?
In my life, I want to have a family, be mostly left alone, and be outside. I could easily live on a ranch for the rest of my life. I don't like crowds that much and wouldn't miss the City.
I'll argue politics on a message board, but in person, not so much.
quote:
Went to a wedding in Paradise Valley last Summer... a few miles south of Emigrant. Beautiful area.
It is my favorite part of Montana. When I have a family, it is where I intend to be.

you mean you are running from chemtrails right?
I do want to be as much off the grid as possible, and as self-sufficient as possible. I'd like to have an organic hothouse and grow as much of my own food as possible. I'd like to have children who grow up in a clean environment, and I want a place with good fresh water (spring or snow fed creek).
I'd keep the farm in Texas to use as a place to visit and to grow food that won't grow in Montana.
That is my plan

Now you're just fricking with us, right?
What "special privileges" do I have? None.
I have to pay my bills. I have to work (on the farm). No one is giving me a break on anything.
Privilege is something most Hollywood actors have. Politicians have privilege. Having a decent income is not privilege.
quote:
Way too high, IMO. It should be lowered to $1M. You didn't earn that money and there are people that need it more than you.
No, $1.0m is too low. It would punish landowners and family farms.

so privileged and you don't even know it.
You can have money and not be privileged. I have a nice life, but it is not privileged. When I get married, I plan to move to Montana or Wyoming and have a more austere life.

What's your position on taxing unearned, inherited wealth?
I'm not against inheritance or wealth taxes if the estate or wealth is over $50.0m. (or in that range).

You're not successful, your parents were.
So I can't be successful because my father has done well?
I think not.

That doesn't make it "racism". Whites buy those too and I still call it trashy.
Same goes for custom license plates. Whites probably have those more than anyone else, and it is trashy. If a black person has one and I call it trashy, am I now a racist?
I wouldn't call you or anyone a racist. We all have some tinge of racism anyway. People who call others racist are usually the most racist ones themselves. We probably agree on this.
Racist is an overused word anyway. It has lost its real meaning.

I have studied this. I know all about the problems faced by various cultures and sub-cultures.
I can make sandwiches and I'm already somewhere in life. I own my own home and farm, no debt. I'm successful. I'm also a good cook

What? I equate trash with being trash, be they white, black, Asian, etc.
You may do this, but most conservatives do not.
If we could segregate trash culture, it would be nice but it will never happen as long as conservative whites lump black trash in with blacks. Also, conservative whites tend to label everything as "trash" that doesn't fit their ideas of culture. For example, stylized wheel rims.
My Dad has a ranch in the Paradise Valley, near Livingston.

IMO, it is literally your mindset that furthers the belief that ghetto culture is black culture.
I'm exactly the opposite. Have I ever suggested that ghetto culture should be immune from criticism? The answer is "no."
Your side equates "being poor" with ghetto and that is the real problem.

don't disagree with that, I'm all for critical analysis.
This board refuses to, cannot, or will not critically analysis he pitfalls of middle-upper class mainstream culture. In fact, the premise amongst this board is that that culture is perfect.
That's jsut willfully and dangerously ignorant and arrogant. And just flat out false to be frank.
Exactly. Middle-upper class mainstream culture has numerous flaws. They were the group that battled against marriage equality. They routinely reject every statement that even remotely suggests that racism and discrimination exist. These are just two examples.
quote:
My favorite Bill Mahr event was when he quoted Michelle Obama criticizing ghetto culture and said Romney said it. His black guest said it was racist, but when he revealed it was her that said it, the excuses flowed as to how it wasn't racist.
I love Bill Maher, but that was a bad and cowardly move. The fact is that whites really don't have standing to criticize ghetto culture, primarily because when they say "ghetto culture", they always lump everyone black into the "ghetto culture" group (except for a few right wing black political hacks like Thomas Sowell).

Progs are conditioned to believe its racist to blame ghetto culture.
quote:
Are all cultures equal?
No, Islamic culture as it is now (not historically) is definitely inferior. When I speak of a culture, I exclude the trash elements within it. Black culture is equal, but I don't put the ghetto gangbanger element in there any more than I put the white trash culture into "white culture."

I disagree with this. I'm definitely not with the faux progressives who try to foist their appearance standards on others.
Overweight women generally aren't models because they don't photograph well. Models are usually tall because tall people photograph better. Gymnasts are usually very petite because of center of gravity issues. Do we need to demand tall gymnasts?
Size diversity is moronic. Fat people are generally less healthy.

quote:I don't think you understand the plight of the inner city.
Everything starts and ends with the parents. Including blame for violent crime in the inner city.
You focus on the minority within the inner city who embrace gang and crime culture. You ignore the majority who want good schools, low crime, and decent housing. It is tough for someone to be raised with little money and opportunity but it can happen. I saw the interview with the LSU player (Darrell Guice?) who talked about how it wasn't an easy choice to go to a Catholic School and that he could have easily gotten into drugs or crime.
Instead, the response is always "blacks just want special treatment." No. They want recognition that they have problems that mainstream whites don't have.

Their parents have to believe and see the importance of diversity of culture, thought and experience. If they don't it's gonna be much harder to influence the kids but it is possible. I see kids every day that reject the horribly racist/sexist/homophobic tenants of their parents
This is absolutely correct, but I'm sure most will disagree with you just because that is what they always seem to do.
We don't seem to have much diversity in anything. Though Dad is far too right wing, he has a wide range of friends. Diversity can start with music, and Dad had a great appreciation of a wide range of music. But, too many people listen to only one type of music. There's no appreciation of jazz, blues, bop, soul, r and b among most whites my age or younger. Too many people listen to one type of music.

You can't debate undeniable facts. You're wrong. There is no argument. Fact.
This is true when facts are undeniable. The problem with your statement is I'm not wrong. The rest is true.

Except in a very small % of the time, "right" shouldn't be qualified...Either you are right or you are not right.
Debating with you would make Broke very, very angry
I don't think debating with me would make anyone angry. I don't get mad, why should someone else? I'm sure I would hold my own.
quote:
You're wrong and there's no debate here whatsoever. FACT.
I see your game here.
The difference here is that when I'm right because I have provided facts and factual opinions (thought not always in the same post) so I'm correct when I say that something is not debatable and is factual.
You just say it is a fact because you said it.

We're going to introduce another word Here, delusion.
Delusional? No. Delusional are people who look up and say "oh, look at those lovely 'contrails' no one is dumping shite all over me" or "lets increase the EMF blasts all over our house" and "no one weaponizes cell phones." Now, this is the delusional people.
I don't want to get on a tangent, though I'm very right about this.
There is no war on white males.
quote:
This is what most of the left has become. They can say what you aren't allowed to say because they have moral righteousness on their side.
Case in point - the Hillary/DeBlasio CPT skit.
I don't think any politician, with very few exceptions, has "moral righteousness" on their side. They look out for themselves, lie about their positions, pander, etc.
I love President Obama, but he did the same - he was against marriage equality until it became politically expedient to embrace it.
I disagreed with Ron Paul on many issues, but I liked him because he told the truth about his positions. I used to strongly admire Bernie Sanders, and still do to some extent, but he also has made some political moves I didn't care for.
I get frustrated when those who have had advantages in their life (for example, me) don't recognize that certain groups generally have not had those advantages.

Really? The "war" on straight white people, "mostly" males," is a huge myth. We're talking about society's most privileged group. I like straight white males. There is no war and this is a fact that cannot be argued.

I debate it frequently and I win most of the debates. I respond with substance, and other than scruffy and even the sometimes insulting but usually thoughtful Gray, I get not substantive responses. Roger will respond to.
