Of course there are strings attached! The company that builds the arena will have all of the dates for the year except for about 60 days for LSU sports ( men’s basketball, women’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball). The company will be able to hold concerts/activities to make money the rest of the days. The same set up that was done at the University of Texas. After 30 years they give it to LSU.
It is win-win. LSU gets a brand new arena that will cost them nothing. The company brings in concerts that will bring people to Baton Rouge that will spend money.
There are no major concerts in Baton Rouge anymore. They are in Lafayette or New Orleans. This will bring that money to Baton Rouge instead.
Anybody that is against the arena is either an anti LSU troll or and idiot!
