Gainesville

Posted by Exit40Reb on 11/17/24 at 2:51 pm
Making my first road trip to Gainesville and the Swamp this Saturday. Bar and restaurant recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I'd recommend Davanti's in Little Italy.

My family and I just got back from staying 5 nights in La Jolla and stayed at the Grand Colonial. La Jolla is awesome and worth checking out or even consider staying. Duke's, George's, Puesto, Eddie V's, The Taco Stand, Marisi are a handful of places we ate and all were good.

If you go to Coronado, I'd check out The Henry. We ate there for brunch, and it was really good.
I am actually leaving tomorrow for La Jolla. I would love to hear any and all recommendations from people on local watering holes, restaurants, and must do activities.
1. Secondary
2. RBs
3. OLine. Strong starting group but could use more depth.
We are fortunate to have an easy start to the season to help with all the new transfers and especially QB, but the last half of the schedule is a gauntlet. We could start 8-0 but finish 9-3.

Ceiling: 10-2
Floor: 7-5

I believe ‘01 Vandy game was postponed to December due to 9/11.
Pitching and bullpen are definitely our biggest strength. Nikhazy, Hoglund, and Diamond are a strong rotation followed by Miller, Broadway, Myers, Cioffi, Holston, and Burton in the pen. I’ll be interested to see how our bats are. We are going to miss Servideo and Keenan. Honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t know who was going to be our starting SS going into the season, but I believe he’s a true freshman. We’ve been pretty solid at that position for awhile.
We have a handful of people leaving whether it's transfer portal or going pro. Only 4 of them were major contributors that I can think of.

Elijah Moore: pro
Kenny Yeboah: pro
Royce Newman: pro
Ryder Anderson: transfer

re: Hugh Freeze to USM?

That's their only hope. I mean they are already have two SEC schools in state and then look at all the other middle tier schools nearby that are way better jobs - Tulane, UAB, Memphis, South Alabama, Troy, Houston, etc. I just don't believe it's a very good job at all, and they are going to continue to struggle getting decent players.

USM has been left in the dust with the American conference passing them up, and them being stuck in the C-USA. The C-USA is such a bad conference. I could see their program going down the toilet. I'm not sure they can hire anyone very good.

I think it's pretty set in stone that Corral has won the job. Plumlee is dynamic and needs to be on the field in some capacity, but his arm is so suspect and can't make SEC throws. As far as the game, I think we will keep it competitive in the first half, but Florida will pull away in the second. Our defense isn't going to be very good, and we have no depth. It was a major blow losing Sam Williams too. I'm going to say 38-21 Gators.
Will those neutral site games like UGA vs UF and A&M vs Arky still be played at those locations or will they be played on campus?
Rebs go 4-6. Wins against State, Vandy, Arky, and split one between Kentucky and South Carolina.
Trust me, I don't want to move on from it. But honestly, I am not going to be surprised when it does change. I think it's just a matter of time.
But if we do move on from Rebels, we should go back to the Flood for sure.
There's absolutely no evidence that Ole Miss was adopted because the plantation owner's wife was called Ol' Missus. As you can see within the comments, the only people who make this claim are MSU fans who just try to make us look bad.
Ole Miss vs LSU 2012 was a great one too.

Adopt the rule how the NFL does it. Ridiculous how the player is kicked out of the game.
Because it gives us national attention and something the fans to get excited about

Ole Miss and USC have agreed to play each other. Rebs head to LA in 2025, and USC comes to Oxford in 2026.

Playing at USC in 2025, and they are coming to Oxford in 2026 - big time!

re: Anyone been to all 14 stadiums

My rankings of stadiums I’ve visited:

1. LSU - by far best atmosphere in SEC
2. Auburn - can’t wait to go back to another game. Really enjoyed my weekend there.
3. Tennessee - cool stadium right off the river. Planning on getting a boat and riding it up to the stadium next season when OM comes to town. Can’t wait.
4. Alabama - pretty cool I guess. Wasn’t overly impressed.
5. MSU - a lot of my good friends went to MSU so I always had a good time even though Starkville sucks.
6. Vandy - this should be a unanimous decision on worst stadium in SEC.

What our old AD, Bjork, did to the Vaught is criminal. The SEZ sucks now with the field club and all the premium seating. Plus moving the students from the SEZ killed our biggest home field advantage. He also took the cheap way out on the NEZ addition. The East and West side of the Vaught desperately need renovations too. So to wrap things up, Bjork can kiss my arse. Have fun with him Aggies.
I like the Landshark too. I think a lot more people would get behind it if they would change the shark to a fluffy stuffed animal. I just can’t believe they botched that design so badly. Also agree with HJJ - that was awesome when they played Elvis at the end of the game those few times.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. Great movie.
Prince just entered the transfer portal and is likely heading to Memphis. That's a major blow.
Ole Miss has an absolute gauntlet of a schedule this season. Open up against Louisville and then draw Florida, Georgia, and Vanderbilt from the East. We also just lost one of our best relief pitchers for the season which is gonna hurt badly. My hope is to make some noise in a regional and setup next season for a postseason run.

re: Eli Manning is retiring

The Ole Miss Football social media page did a great tribute to him. Eli will always be my favorite athlete of all time. I was 8 years old his last year in Oxford, and he is the reason why I am a Giants fan today. Going to miss watching him play.
I do not understand all the Roach love from other programs pursuing him. Obviously I am missing something with the Giants and now Bama wanting him. I have always thought our D-line was underwhelming under him, and he has missed out on pretty much every D-line recruit we have been after. Has he signed any decent names since he has been with us? Granted, I understand we have been on probation and had Luke as HC.
