I moved to Ponchatoula in 2023 after 25 years out in New Mexico. In those 25 years I received zero benefit from my property taxes. In the 3 short years I've been here Tangipahoa parish has trimmed the tree branches in my neighborhood reducing power outages during storms. They changed the street lights that were out when I called. And the best thing they did was when I called to complain about the mosquitos, 3 days later a crop duster flew over a 3 mile radius of my house and sprayed. A neighbor suggested that I call and I just laughed. I couldn't believe they actually did it. And it worked. Having said that, I despise paying property taxes but at least I'm getting some return on my money since I've been here.
