I live in Atlanta- and it is the same here. 90% of my co-workers are cheering for the Saints.

My wife spent yesterday stocking up for our Super Bowl party- which will include Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, and Falcons fans cheering for the Black & Gold. She went to 5 different party supplies and grocery stores looking for black and gold balloons and party supplies- all were sold out. Plenty of Colts merchandise available.

I don't know if it is a good thing-but the Saints are the overwhelming choice in the ATL.

FWIW- I wouldn't be pulling for the Fal_clowns if the shoe was on the other foot.
Doesn't change the point of your post, but Davenport didn't letter. That makes 2 returning lettermen.
Sanctions have nothing to do with Mcknight- its the $$$ spent on Mayo and Reggie. JM riding around in the Land Rover doesn't help, but that isn't where the NCAA is focused.

Amen, PIMP...I read daily and rarely post. Wish many others were the same.
Exposing PC diddling young, buxom blondes probably helps his coolness factor with 18 yr old recruits...not being able to play for championships- now that starts to hurt lil Petey .

No way that is the driver- but the story would get more press WITH sanctions.
Stay in Buckhead- not what it used to be from a Nightlife standpoint, but still safer and more things to do after dark than downtown.

Transporation is easy- Marta or Cab.

AU OC Malzhan

Any info on Malzhan interviewing for open HC opportunities?
Fast Eddie nailed it- I beleive major sanctions coming for Trojans- which further supports Carroll's move to Seattle.
USC basketball gets slammed within last 2 weeks, more underclassmen jumping ship, Carroll leaving...the Hammer is coming on USC football.

Today's Loss & the Alternative

Today was a no win situation for the Saints. While it was miserable to watch Brunnell short arm throw after throw- at least we will have #9 under center in 2 weeks.

NE lost Wes Welker today to a likely ACL and MCL tear. We all could be feeling much worse...
No comparison to 007 opener at Moo U...Should have been 2008...still recovering from the West Coast.

Positives \ Things to Build On

Posted by Chicageaux Mike on 9/7/09 at 5:16 pm
Was at the game and have watched the replay. Like others- I am feeling better than I did at 11:30 PST Sat night.

5 areas where we showed improvement over 2007:

1. QB. Jefferson managed the game unbelievably well. Not sure what it sounded like on TV- but this was an SEC road atmosphere and he handled it.

2. Turnovers. We won the TO battle and were in position for several more. When folks get more time in assignment (CJ, HC), should be even more productive. We had more tipped passes Sat night than all of 2007 it seemed.

3. Interior D Line. J Downs will be a player and Nevis had a great night. While there was limited push from CA and AW- both played solid against the run.

4. LBs- Locker runs a 4.4, and Riley, Cutrera, Sheppard, and Coleman did a decent job of containing him for all but the one 4th Qtr series.

5. WRs- made plays on the few balls that were thrown. Would expect we get the ball in their hands more in the future and hopefully throw more downfield.

Finally, all should recognize that all of the intangibles were against the Tigers and they persevered. Limited scouting, dreadful start time, and a renewed Husky atmosphere made for a tough opening game draw.

Vandy will tell us alot- and I think we will build on Sat's victory.
Neaux! Having watched the replay- CS had some solid runs and at times nowhere to run. The fumble hurt, but only his 2nd in 2 years. There were 3 times where KW was late or never picked up the blitz.

I don't think the fumbles have limited his PT- its his knowledge of the playbook and ability to play consistently. I am hoping we also see Ridley soon- who was on several ST plays.

Miles said it at the Atl Tiger Tour- said he will be running with the team next week.

The Advocate Sports Page

The Advocate Sports editorial staff look like the HS jounalism club when it comes to LSU baseball.

No comparison between the editorial pieces written by Dubois and Dodd vs. Laney. Thanks to TD for reguarly publishing Dubois' work.

According to Dubois- RH Brett Eibner- who we beat 4-3 in series clincher in May.
90% of my friends are staying Downtown (myself included, but we are making a 5 day trip.

IMO, staying near UW makes sense if you are only in for the game. The campus area is limited for tourist type of activities and it is a pretty good haul from downtown with no quick, easy public transportation.
The Iron Bowl replacing ARK vs LSU as the Friday after Thanksgiving game is not a bad thing for LSU and is not a reflection of CBS respect for our program.

In my opinion, the Iron Bowl is the number 1 rivalry in College Football. Regardless of where the teams are ranked- the game is sold out, brawls are happening before, during, and after the game- and coaches job security is directly linked to success in the series.

I've been to other rivalry games- USC vs UCLA in 1999, Ohio St vs. Michigan in 2005. Neither had the energy or emotion of good SEC match up, much less the Iron Bowl.

As a Tiger fan, I recognize the Iron Bowl is a more attractive option for CBS and the conference.

Lets be real- how many of you feel the same passion for playing Arky as you do Bama, UF, Auburn, or Ole Miss? Except in national championship years, we have struggled to have a full stadium, and up until our last 2 lossess, struggled to respect Arky as a worthy opponent.

Hopefully, this change means an Arky whipping in front of a national ESPN audience the Saturday night after Thanksgiving. Bacon tastes good...
If you are a golfer- Play one of the Robert Trent Jones golf courses.

Houndstooth is a cool bar, and the owner is a good dude- saw him give an LSU fan his tickets to the 07 game. The LSU fan had been pounding drinks and looking for tickets for 2 days in his bar, and he hooked him up 45 minutes before. I thought that was pretty cool- and I will give that guy some business.

re: LSU the new #1?

Posted by Chicageaux Mike on 4/9/09 at 5:11 am to
Arky deserves to be #1 right now based on OOC and current SEC standings. That being said- the SEC and Tigers will make them earn the right to stay there.
Our were blue yesterday on UGA broadcast- the outcome sux
am4- about 10-15% of today's crowd were Tiger fans
I sat 5 seats from the dude who got tossed in the grandstand. While obnoxious, loud, and under the skin of 4,000 UGA fans- he hadn't done anything worth getting tossed.

When the cop came over to talk to him- he got very aggressive, was warned 3 times to calm down, and finally got the yank. I'm curious if they tossed the UGA fan who punched him as he was leaving.

re: Way to go Tigers!!

UGA radio broadcast was respectful of LSU, especially after the game- referring the series as a contest between two of the country's TItans of college baseball.

I did get tired of all the complaints around the strike zone- it was wildly inconsistent all day for both sides. We had several key at bats taken away with questionable called thrid strikes.

They also commented several times on how many UGA mistakes kept giving lSU, but didn't mention the baseball fortune they had to day on at least 3 LSU rockets snagged on UGA defensive gems. Overall, not much worse than Hawthorn.
Dean is pressing...had a rocket today taken away by UGA 2B. Question is should he be dropped in the order?
agree with the Godfather- totally sick. Where did he pitch in HS? I know he is from Metairie.
I thought we were somewhat overrated headng into this season based on last year's incredible streak. I left today's UGA game a believer this could be one of our best teams- and definately should be in Omaha. Here's why:

1. Deep, effective pitching staff. Hard to believe there is a better staff than Ranaudo, Ross, Coleman, and Matty Ott as the closer. Just need to continue to improve our middle relief beyond Bertuccini. Ryan Byrd had some quality innigs this series. 35 strikeouts for the staff this weekend.

2. Strength of line up from 1 to 9. While our stars are somewhat struggling, newcomers like Mahtook and Hanover are producing. What does this offense look like when the top of the order gets it rolling?

3. Defense. 0 errors in this weekend's series, on the road, facing the #1 team. UGA had 7.

4. It ain't just about the long ball. Last run was helped with the hit and run after the Gibbs walk.

5. Micah Gibbs arm against small ball- dude is one of the best defensive catchers we have had behind the plate. His throw out in the first was huge- could have led to a bigger inning for UGA.

It is a long way to June and injuries could hurt, but I'm feeling pretty good for the first week of April. As Skip used to do- I hope they keep giving others opportunities to raise their games- especially in midweek action against quality opponents.
and he will only get bigger and stronger with a full off season of collegiate training.
Between the upper deck and lower deck at Commonwealth.

3 LSU students ran past me and my wife saying LSU had just won. I grabbed one of the students and said, "I'll kick your arse if you're lying", in which he replied, " follow me to the field-that's where we are heading. We went down the ramp, and came out onto the field where there was an LSU dogpile and 60,000 stunned UK fans.

The funniest part was they never talked about the play on the UK post game show- only how it was the darkest day in UK football. After a 2 hour drive back home to Cincinnati- I got to see the replay. 100,000 LSU fans will say they were there- when in truth it was betrween 5 and 10k.

I was the guy that was there, but didn't see it- will forever be ragged my all of my die hard Tiger buddies.

70% 2nd round
20% Sweet 16
5% Elte 8
5% Final Four

Want NC, but haven't seen us beat anybody out of a down conference.
I'm not a Bobby Knight fan, actually despise the guy and think he is the ultimate bully. However, I don't think his comments were aimed at LSU- more the quality of officiating and its impact on the game. If we would have lost, he would have shown several calls that went against LSU.

His agenda is bigger than hating on LSU. Beyond the dollars ESPN is paying him, I beleive his motivation is to challenge the NCAA- if its a rule it should be called. He has consistently broken down tape every week showing how many walks, etc don't get called.

One of the things I dislike about NCAA BB, is the inconsistency of how the games are called- especially across conferences. That inconsistency can and does bite good teams at tourney time.
