Last July I had a freak accident. I was camping, changing my clothes, lost my balance, twisted the ankle in the wrong way, and wound up breaking my tibia and shattering my fibula. This wasn't my first time in the woods. I have over 500 miles overnight hiking experience. But on that day fate was against me.
It required 3 operations. I caught a hospital infection and required way more antibiotics than I want to even think of, and I needed extended wound care at one of the incision site. Nearly 4 months on crutches, and now a month of PT and counting.
The total pre discount bill, at last count, was over $120,000. I paid only about 2.5k because I had insurance.
The recovery was very difficult as is. I missed 6 weeks of work and my wife had to delay looking for work to take care of me (was lucky it happened while she was between jobs). I don't even want to think of how much harder it would have been if we had to file bankruptcy on top of it, and it would no doubt be DIY PT.
So if you are young and healthy and think you don't need insurance, think again.

It isn't a sudden thing. Obama reduced it by 2/3. Republicans didn't notice because they didn't care about the deficit then. And they don't care about it now either. So at least they're consistent.

Some of you people are seriously delusional. Paul Manafort was caught secretly contacting a known Russian agent as late as last week, in violation of his release, and the investigation is "collapsing." The President and his lawyer are melting down. Does anyone serious believe his lawyer wrote the tweet where he admits to knowing Flynn broke the law?
