It was a much better documentary than I expected. My opinion on the blonde and her husband doing the documentary, and the sister-wife Julia flipped completely about 3/4 of the way through.
Spoilers:
They came across as vapid and indoctrinated in the beginning, but completely redeemed themselves and more by the end.
I mean, how strong of a person is Julia? For her to pull herself, and others out of that trap is inspirational. For the blonde filmmaker - damned if she didn't save all those women. There are people who do good in this world, and they deserve all the respect.

The dog is probably the only love left in that dude's life. Some men have everything and have less.
Can I wait until it's below freezing outside for a couple of days first?
If not, you're gonna have to come up off that $10k number. At least throw in medical on top cause $10k won't cover antivenom and an airlift.

What does it do the blackhawk doesnt do?
According to google, it flys nearly twice as fast and has nearly double the range.
Blackhawk flies at 180-200mph with an operational range of 370 mi
Cheyenne II flies at 345mph with an operational range of 580-920mi
For reference, the distance from Brownsville TX to Mexico City is 457mi (air)
The Cheyenne can go there and back without refueling in about the same amount of time it takes a Blackhawk to get there.

and it will never be finished.
But it is finished. Has been for some time. Don't you get it? GRRM likes killing off his characters so much he killed off his reader too. If Robb Stark can't see it through to the end, what right do we have?

Why did we need a new $45M tilt rotor?
It's got a crew of 4, and can carry 14 passengers.
It's been commissioned by the army.
What's it primary mission? Sending rangers across the border into mexico and dropping them on Cartel HQ?

There was Chappelle's show, then there was Key and Peele, then there is YouTube.
I think the world may have completely moved on from the sketch show TV format, and would rather a weekly release, YouTube Channel/IG Reel instead.

Having several family members with dementia I've learned alcohol may help you get to sleep, but it's not good sleep. And also, if you consume nicotine in any form, you're not getting good sleep. Even if you sleep all night, it's not good enough for the brain to do its job removing the tau plaques.
I hope someone develops a nighttime pill that boosts whatever brain cleaning process happens.

In his older stuff there's a sense of just having fun with topics. There was no going hard in the paint for social narrative, just finding the funny in things.
Today's Dave has moved into the role of a sage or truth-teller. The idea isn't so much to entertain, but to attempt to fix or express society/social ills through humor and sarcasm.
Man, it all hinges on who he gets to write with him, and who he puts in front of the camera with him. Will he choose the role of the sane one like in half baked, or the crazy one, like in the Clayton Bigsby (Black white supremicist) bit?
My point is that it'll be different from his stand up. If Netflix gives him free reign, it could be terrible. If they give him a producer credit and tell him to make the best sketch show possible, not neccessarily the best Chappelle Show possible, it could be an all time great.
re: I find it odd that we fake space stuff, but still dont have a good fake Squatch encounter.

The guys checking on Ol' Squatchypants don't have a billion dollar government budget they have to justify. Otherwise I'm sure we'd see a lot more videos .
I voted online but Poltergeist vs Tremors?
I would have loved to have seen Tremors make a deeper run but damn if it didn't get slotted against a top 5 out the gate.

They have great fast food burgers but the price really just isn't worth it. I probably only go once or twice a year
I'm with you. I like 5 guys burgers and fries. Is it the best burger? No, but it's a certain "type" of burger that I like occasionally. Sometimes you want a double patty grease bomb and enough salty fries to permanently clog an artery. I'm kind of glad they're extremely overpriced. That way I don't eat there more often. If it were $10 for a combo I'd weigh 300 lbs.

We just went to the moon and back. We streamed every second live for the world to see - for free!
We're kicking Iran's arse and helping our boys Israel.
We're assisting Ukraine and giving the finger to Putin.
We've kidnapped the president of Colombia and are holding him trial for all the drug bullshite.
We've killed a Cartel kingpin.
We're hosting the World Cup this year, and the Olympics in 2 years.
Apparently we're the only country in the world who gives a frick and is actually awesome. :usa:

re: You winning the Masters if you start from edge of green?

Ok, we need one of our OT ballers to design an 18 hole putting only course with an exact replica of the masters greens. We'll use final day hole locations, and begin the putt from the part of the green farthest from the hole.
It's the only way to be sure.

It was a mess.
He tried to weave too much into the story and it came out unintelligible.
I understand he tried to paint a comprehensive picture of what was going on at the time. Instead of a Norman Rockwell, he gave us a Jackson Pollack.
It really needed to be divvied up into separate episodes on the Native Americans, African Americans, Women, Loyalists, Politics, and then warfare/battles. Him cramming it all together in every episode made it really hard to like because it got too hard to follow.
ETA: This is coming from someone who likes the American Revolution part of our history, and I also like Ken Burns work. He's very thorough. This is his George Lucas - Phantom Menace film. Nobody in his inner circle told him it was bad because he's "so great".

I just rewatch The Wire to restore my faith.
Man, it's such a cynical show, but it rings true. It's really eye opening how an individual can't really make a difference in any of the systems. The adage "No good deed goes unpunished" comes to mind as does the saying "People don't think it be like it is, but it do."
At the end of the day, Avon was right all along, it's all about the game. Marlo knew that too. So did Omar. Everyone else was trying to slow or stop an unstoppable force - human nature.
The writing was great, but man if it didn't leave me a little depressed.
Finished it last night. Man, what a great show. Great writing. I'm going to be hitting google today to find out where the actors have been, what else the writers/producer has done, cultural impact, etc. The show deserves the praise it gets.
I've said it before, I'm not a fan of the genre. I dislike organized crime movies. Probably because after seeing The Godfather series, everything else seems derivative.
I rank Breaking Bad as one of my top TV series of all time. And it's unfair to compare The Wire to BB. BB does a deep dive on the characters, The Wire does deep dives on various social systems. Hell probably the deepest character arc in The Wire is Bubbles.
In the end, the magic of The Wire is what happens on the street, and the way they told that story through different lenses is masterful.
The show deserves a rewatch. Thanks to everyone who talked it up all these years.
