Bruh I didn’t come to trash talk, just correcting a misimpression that was gaining speed.
That’s our backup kicker Baker, who is good. But it’s not Carneiro. Sors.

we’re the happiest we’ve been in months and absolutely fired up about the future.

You should be. You’ve got the coach you want and a $40 M roster assembled by the Portal King, which should virtually guarantee you a spot in next year’s championship game. If you don’t frick it up ….
I’m not so sure that’s correct. Once a player is in the portal, that status changes only after the player formally requests it in writing. Players often don’t do so. I haven’t seen any reports that the player actually filed the request to withdraw.
After a player has entered the portal, as Ferrilli did, they are fair game to contact. By definition that’s not tampering.

If a player has not entered the portal, it is tampering to contact them, make offers, or attempt to induce them into the portal.

I realize it’s hard for some people to understand these distinctions.
I pulled up the docket and was surprised that only the Complaint was filed. I would have expected a motion for TRO or alternatively a PI to accompany the Complaint. The complaint by itself gives the NCAA 30 days to respond; a motion for TRO/PI can get things going much more quickly.
LSU is likely spending $20M+ on staff and $40M on their roster this year, which probably is as much if not more than any other team in the country. They have a right to expect at least 10-2 or 11-1. Anything less would be a pisser.
Kelly inherited Orgeron’s disaster and turned it around in his first year. Won the SECW and 10 games, without the virtually unlimited NIL budget handed to Kiffin.
I honestly didn’t pay any attention to Simpson and never thought there was any serious pursuit of him by OM. Might be wrong, just don’t know.
Lee wants to stay at Ole Miss if Chambliss comes back. There was talk that he might enter portal just to keep his options open. My money is on him staying put.

Most of the fanbase constantly crying about tampering and then their team is doing the exact same thing.

Correct me if I’m mistaken but I think the LB transferring from Cal to Clemson was still in the portal at the time we contacted him. By definition it’s not “tampering” if he’s in the portal.

Better question is how many did you actually keep that we wanted.

Chambliss
Lacy
Deuce Alexander
Cayden Lee
Cunningham
Carneiro (kicker)
Maybe a couple of others on offense.

Kiffin really wanted a few on defense but prolly felt like most were out of reach and didn’t try hard. Princewill is still TBD.
Robert Q getting the case is a good sign. I’ve known him for many years. He and Ron Taylor had a small time practice in Southaven until Reagan appointed him US Attorney; surprised a lot of people because he had very little federal court experience. When God handed out the smart pills RQ wasn’t anywhere near the front of the line, but he’s a decent guy. His wife was a beloved science teacher at Oxford High. I had the impression that his strongest college affiliation was to Northwest CC, but he has ties to OM as well. His son was ASB president at OM.

I have downloaded and read the lawsuit. Very well done. It’s what we call a “speaking Complaint,” meaning that it’s more like a brief on the merits than merely setting forth the claims.

Until I read the complaint I had doubts about Trinidad’s standing to sue the NCAA; the Complaint answers those doubts. I also didn’t fully understand all the medical history and documentation, which is laid out in persuasive detail.

I almost never judge a lawsuit’s merits until I’ve seen both sides. And I can already spot a few places where the NCAA could poke holes in the case. And I’m sure the NCAA can get a persuasive attorney. But if I’m in the room watching Robert Q reading this Complaint, I’ll be seeing an awful lot of nodding his head in agreement. Dissuading him otherwise will be too much of an uphill battle for the NCAA in my opinion.

If I were a 2026 opponent of OM, I’d be game planning to face TC.

TL/dr: We good, baws

Well, they seem to be spending it like it’s infinite. Probably $8 M or so just on QBs. Guess we’ll know by this time next near whether they get Cignetti-level results or a bust.
Holly Rowe pioneered this gig and knows her stuff. Much respect.

Ben Garrett said a few term sheet numbers got passed around but also said it was nbd and limited to just a few players.
Huh. If anything we might not be offering as much as we could/should. We lost a good player to the portal just this week by sticking to our valuation of the player instead of offering what some other schools were.

You might say we are paying Lacy more than what we’d pay for a RB with similar YPG and YPC stats. But he brings a lot more value to us than just those stats. Other than him, I don’t think we are overpaying any players by much if any.

TROs in Mississippi are for 6 months

Incorrect. A TRO normally is in effect for only 10 days, unless extended. It’s more likely that Mars will seek a Preliminary Injunction, which is similar to a TRO except that it normally remains in effect until a full trial on the merits.
