He had a nasty off speed pitch when it was working. Unfortunately, I don't remember him pitching much in the CWS because Trey Hodges just locked down everyone coming out of the bullpen.

Eric Hetzel - pitcher in the mid 80's
Andy Galy - infielder in the 80's.
Kenny Jackson - 1st baseman on the 93 team
Wes Davis - OF on the 97 and 98 team
Brandon Bowe - reliever on the 98 team that gave an incredible performance out of the bullpen against Cal State Fullerton in the regional after we got down 7-0 and came back to win the game 13-11.
Weylan Guidry - reliever on the 2000 team
Andy Galy - infielder in the 80's.

I was around 9 or 10 years old when I started listening to the Astros on the AM station out of New Orleans around 1975-76. I remember Caesar Cedeno, Jose Cruz, Bob Watson, J.R. Richard, Larry Dierker and others. Around the same years, I would also listen to the NOLA Jazz games on the radio because they were rarely on TV. "Pistooooool Pete!!!!"

He did several interviews during the 2023 run including some on the field after the championship game. He never said anything bad about Jay, but you could sense there was some jealousy for not getting more credit, especially when he would talk about the players on that team that played for him like, Crews, Morgan and others.

This is probably not going to go well for Mainieri this year. I wish him all the best, but I think he made a mistake getting back into coaching. The game has changed so much off the field and I doubt he can keep up.

Don't know if anyone saw it, but on Monday night a contestant was a player for the Texas Tailgaters of the Banana league. This is the team that included Zach Watson. The contestant, followed by several players including Watson danced into the audition room. I'll try to link the video.

First thing we need to do: Check to see if any of these portal players were kicked out in the second half of their last game.
Do y'all remember the last game of that season at home in 2023 against A&M? Daniels saved us in the end after our defense couldn't stop a 3rd string QB. A&M threw that screen pass to a big slow white fullback who ran down the sidelines for a TD and Speights actually missed the tackle twice on the same play. The fact he's contributing at the pro level tells you everything you need to know about Matt House.
That UT Rio Grand Valley was actually two schools that merged a few years ago: UT Brownsville and UT Pan American.

In the dome. I didn't get to go in 2003 or 2007 and thankfully, wasn't there in 2011. Finally got my shot to see national championship and I wasn't going to miss it this time.

It would make sense if it's players from the 2025 team throwing out the first pitches on opening weekend. Some of those guys are around the first couple of games before they have to report for spring training. Once that starts, they won't be available.
