It's not illegal to call a player agent and talk about hypotheticals. Agents can share hypotheticals with their clients as well. If the player then enters the transfer portal, it's completely legal. Only an inexperienced coach would get directly caught up in that, ask Will Wade!

Strictly hypothetical, let's quantify it this way. Say a coach built up a program at Ole Miss to where he had them in the playoffs. Oxford sucks so bad, I'm willing to bet he would give all that up to come take the job at LSU!
