More referring to how they are good at everything. You don't have to win championships to be recognized for that. Iowa has been very good at football, basketball, girls basketball, softball, and baseball these days. Amazing because no other small town schools are like that.

Even more to the point that it's amazing that Iowa High is good at all major sports.

Good game, glad Belle Chasse didn't suffer the same fate as the other schools in that parish.
Barbe basketball has never even made a state championship game, and the tournament maybe once when Lafargue was there. Jennings in baseball, softball ,and basketball isn't even close to Iowa. Welsh has softball?

Sterlington isn't as good at basketball, Iowa beats Cecilia in baseball and softball for sure, others aren't small towns like iowa. For a small town to be as good as they are like Iowa is remarkable.

Weird response lol. Nobody noticed that they are the only town who is good at all major sports though?

Non select lol.
No, Iowa would beat them in both boys and girls basketball now, also in football. Softball both usually good, baseball same now,.

Actually, Iowa has won more playoff games in baseball since 2002. Both good programs though. Winning it all involves some luck. Iowa has won two rings, lutcher three. Not much difference. Iowa has been to more championship games since then too

Not weird. Iowa is a very small town and a public school. They have good coaches and are good at all major sports. Overachievers obviously

Lutcher has more advantages in sports for sure. Only two schools in St.James, and the other is St.James lol. Be realistic. Iowa is a town of 3000 and has more to deal with in the parish
Football, basketball, girls basketball, softball, baseball. All very good at that school these days. No other public school is solid at all five. Sterlington isnt good at basketball, though also a good public school in sports overall.
Ah yes, the not as visible sports. I should have said major sports. Why is Iowa the only public school in this state that is good at all of them? Hell, if they had those other sports, they'd be good at those too lol

Seriously lol, that school is good at everything!

So besides Brady's 7, we actually lead lol nice.
Iowa is better coached and would beat them in football, along with the other major sports. But basketball, wossman is ridiculous

Legit question. They have won three years in a row lol, do they get the best Monroe kids? Iowa would whoop them in any other major sport
Wossman girls and boys basketball

Do they recruit? It's really the only sport theyre strong at.

Maddux pitched in the same time frame, had a better playoff ERA, and didn't juice.
Louie is probably the best football coach our state has had, how is that an indictment on ND lol. Baseball and softball are damn good too, so is volleyball there. Academics are good too from what I've heard.

I agree, but the only public school in the parish that grew is Iota. They're really gonna go to Lafayette just to go to a charter school?
re: Notre Dame in Crowley numbers
Posted by JaySWLA on 8/11/24 at 4:56 pm to Choot em Tiger
It's weird, but Iota has around 600 students now lol. Notre Dame is down to 338. Church Point hasn't budged, Rayne is the same. Crowley, however, has lost people in general. That's the only explanation I can think of other than how poor it is there, so maybe the tuition is just too high for the locals now. My cousins all played for Louie, and I believe the school before he got there in 1997 was 2A like they are now. I wanna say it's tuition and he can't give as many vouchers as he did. The man is arguably the best coach this state has had, and to my knowledge he's still the coach.

lol I don't think Louie Cook is the type that would encourage it.
Notre Dame in Crowley numbers

The school lost another 60 kids from last year's enrollment, down to 338. Anyone else think that Notre Dame will eventually lose their storied football program?

Vinatieri went 1 for 3 against Carolina in 03, not good. 04 was due to him. 01....yeah good kick, but they sucked before Tom.

Vinatieri went 1 for 3 against Carolina, missing the easier one and the other blocked. Brady was the hero, somehow generate 38 points of offense with Antowain Smith at running back and the best receiver being Deion Branch lol. Vinatieri was bigger for Indy in 06. They had a game in the 06 playoffs where he went 6 for 6 in kicks, and that's all Manning got .

It does, shows he won with things more even for his team lol. He was also at Central Michigan, Cincinnati, etc. schools that he made relevant in the sport while there. Great coach.

Great coach, and didn't he come back to coach a second time in Manhattan?
