Correct but the coaching staff in place esp on offense wasn’t good enough many folks weren’t sold on Joe Sloan. I have 10 times more trust in lane Kiffin and Charlie Weiss to have the offense ready to put up points.

When Kiffin headed here it was a bare cup at OL and qb and honestly wr depth wise. By portal’s end all position are filled with a lot of talent with potentially an another big name otw on OL(Seaton ).
This team has the perfect mix of proven portal guys, high upside young talent paired with a high quality coaching staff. Kiffin’s portal mastery paired with having the resources he needs to dominate HS recruiting should result in us expecting to have these type of rosters every season goin forward under him. He still hasn’t coached a game for us yet but I can’t believe I never preferred any other candidate over Kiffin this guy’s hustle and personality fits the LSU culture like a glove Geaux tigers !!

Raymond likes the young cb’s. Beyond Pickett and woodland , turner , Jackson and Anding Raymond is high on all of them plus Finney coming in

bet he runs a 4.5 like Flott, is slim build, and is a sticky corner that isn't strong enough to bully receivers, but uses longer arms to disrupt passes. I think they're similar, but I agree Woodland likely has better ball skills and maybe some better hips. Woodland is also shorter, but I think he has long arms that he uses well.
Woodland ran a 4.46 out of HS and prob has only gotten faster since being at LSU. I think he’s a 4.4 guy
Sure but heading into last season absolutely no one predicted Delane to be the locksmith he was. Did i think he would a good player? For sure. Did I expect a jim Thorpe finalist , first team all American and projected first rounder ? Hell no he got there becusse he had the ability and an offseason working with Corey Raymond got the best out of him. One offseason with Raymond already got dj Pickett to a first team freshmen all American. After another offseason being coached up by CR, I absolutely expect an all American type jump he has that ability.
Him and finney were the best freshmen cb in the country who for sure had their freshmen moments as Pickett had a down performance to end the year vs Houston and Finney got cooked vs Indiana. I’m confident tho Pickett will match what Delane did

Pickett and PJ are very good cornerbacks but at this point in their development, no offense fears them. We do need another CB who is very good in the slot and boundary positions
Pickett is a 6’4 corner that runs a 4.3 with super long arms and insane fluidity. In his first ever game he played a talented Clemson wr room and Cade klubnik opted to try mansoor Delane and pj woodland more(spoiler alert that failed because we know Delane went on to be a dog ). Offenses definitely will fear Pickett next year he’s a baller there were alredy some games he was barely getting targeted

We need another good one. 2 good starters. The rest is talented but unproven. It will be hard to replace Delane from last year. Anding was a stud in high school and should be good, but might need a year to acclimate. Jackson looked solid in his limited pt.
If Raymond thinks we’re fine at corner we’re fine at corner. You said it yourself the rest of the room is talented who gives a shite if they’re unproven ? Play them and Develop then ! Cant always use the portal is a get out of jail free card if you have a deep young talented room play that young talent inexperienced players get better by playing .Theirs no stud corner even left at this point of the portal

re: Longstreet move to Kiffin can't bode well for Riley

Pretty sure they had a high 4 star qb in that loaded 26 class. Riley will never have an issue getting talented qbs
re: Do we have any LBs on our radar?
Posted by Cd104 on 1/14/26 at 2:29 pm to GulfSouthTiger
Freshman lb class was loaded . Baker is gonna roll with the young pups we have there. Braiker, Ross , Zach weeks and Moses will play a lot next year
DJ Pickett named FWAA freshmen all American

re: This further confirms how worthless Kelly was at LSU.
Posted by Cd104 on 1/14/26 at 1:23 pm to TrueTiger07
Even worth than how lazy he was at recruiting were his abysmal staff hires
Goin from Brian Kelly to lane kiffin already is night and day
Posted by Cd104 on 1/14/26 at 12:03 pm
You can tell Kiffin is hungry , motivated, commited and understands LSU football. Flying to Tennessee to secure Leavitt is a move Brian Kelly’s lazy arse would never make !
We’re already seeing with Kiffin what lsu recruiting can look like with a coach who embraces the culture and LSU prestige. We’re in for a fun era of LSU Football. Shoutout to A&M for embrassing us in Death Valley to single BK’s end here .

The guy bleeds purple and gold he’s done a hell of a job

Wilson is not expected to be a Tiger. Looking for biggest bag has a few more visits scheduled. LSU is not recruiting Delane per insiders (which seems dumb to me)
Think staff is high on young safeties like jhase Thomas so prob feel they don’t needa go all in on him
Think he has to sign with us. Apparently the bridges are burned at USC he can’t withdraw and come back their using his NIL elsewhere. His only other real option is Miami
If we land Longstreet, it shouldn’t at all affect Peyton Houston being locked in right ?
Posted by Cd104 on 1/12/26 at 8:00 pm
Hate I even have to ask this but man this era of CFB is simply different . Hopefully isn’t a guy who would be hellbent on starting day 1 and be turned off by us adding Longstreet.
re: Hard to get excited about any player coming when they're only there for the money, not LSU
Posted by Cd104 on 1/12/26 at 7:45 pm to homemadeshine
This was always going to be the case once money got to being involved what did you expect ? Most LA kids who commit here still mostly bleed purple and gold
Is week 1 vs Clemson the most anticipated home opener in recent memory ?
Posted by Cd104 on 1/12/26 at 7:42 pm
Lane’s first game against a big brand in Clemson, with a bunch of exciting new pieces on both sides of the ball with us not being done yet as we almost surely will keep adding to the offensive line. Mannn I can’t imagine how loud Death Valley week 1 vs Clemson is going to be.
Folks always gotta pull out all the stops when it comes to lsu damn lol
