re: Movement underway to rename Lee HS

Has Gravy driven through Shenandoah Estates? Every street name is a Civil War reference.
Imagine a cold and/or cloudy day. Now imagine that day repeating itself 240 times. The glory that is sunshine cannot be overstated. I don’t care how many franchised eateries or retail stores a town has. If the sun doesn’t shine most of the year, you can count on feeling depressed.
I am living your nightmare. On vacation now and kennel called to say our dog threw up and collapsed. The next call was from them at the animal ER, tumor and abdominal bleeding. Dog collapsed again and would not get up. Had to hear the news and make a hard decision away from home. The only blessing is that she went to this kennel for 12 years and loved it. The staff are angels. Her two favorites were with her at the end. But it should have been me. Maybe she thought she was sparing me some pain. Never want to feel this pain about a pet again. She was a sweet dog.
Unless he gets shingles decades later as an adult. That sh@t is painful.
All you baws need to get a calcium scan for about $100 to see what’s happening with your arteries.
I enjoyed growing up in the SE corner of EBR. It was rural, but had everything I needed. LSU was a fun place to go to school, but then I graduated. In the early 80’s things were pretty dismal. Most of my friends went to Houston. Buddy Roemer even said in his commencement address that he knew we would leave for better jobs, but hoped we’d come back! Fast forward past grad school in NC and jobs in Texas, SC, N.O., I am now in Atlanta. My friends who stayed in BR live off Highland Road and pay for private school and have money to travel. They like BR. What I found hard to take was visiting my parents in Shenandoah. The drive from the airport down Airline Hwy and the ugliness on Jones Creek Road made an impression on me. So many places look run down. Maybe it’s hard to see it happening when you are around it every day.

Good. Leaving alone was Natalie Holliway’s downfall in Aruba. I reminded my girls of it nonstop through their college days.
That you should drive in the right lane and use the left lane to pass.

Ballroom dance from Dale Brown’s wife! Actually, an excellent class. She was legit. Also aerobics 101. Got credit for exercising two hours a week.
That Africa is a continent and not a country.

I am in town visiting parents and can’t believe how bad drivers are here: running red lights, tailgating, and using the far right lane as a passing lane. One car used a portion of an exit ramp as a passing lane. What percentage of drivers carry insurance, would you guess?

Pay a guide to take you on a wildlife hike. The guides can find elusive animals like sloth and tarantulas. Otherwise you might not know where to look or what you are looking at. Bring a good camera.

I am taking lessons at Golftec in Atlanta. In less than a dozen lessons I have gone from zero skills to not embarrassing myself. The video stills with the mark-up overlay help you see the physics involved. The drills they recommend help also.

Yes. Good luck with the move.

The slide downhill began when the golf course was sold. The developer put up expensive homes that I can’t believe people bought. The grocery stores on Jones Creek Rd look like third world markets. Shenandoah has a “volunteer HOA” so few people pay dues. The first house on the right at the entrance looks like a crack house. My parents get out of there this week after 43 years.
The Naples Grande Golf Club is nice. We played as guests of the Naples Grande Resort.
