So the dude broke multiple laws while here AND let his student visa lapse?

Newsweek can drudge up some sympathetic case, but this guy ain't it.
Yep. The fact that they use *this* as an example just demonstrates what a 'non-problem' this is.

It's like the Smollet-style things - racism is so bad, we have to fake racism to bring attention to it.
Check his statement. Note everything is descriptive, void of any factual information :
quote:

He said he was housed in jail environments alongside individuals accused or convicted of serious crimes, which he found "terrifying and deeply unsettling." He alleged inconsistent access to drinking water, saying detainees sometimes had to wait extended periods for necessities. He also described food as repetitive and lacking nutritional value and said overcrowded, noisy conditions made it difficult to sleep, with lights often left on and little sense of privacy.
What exactly is 'inconsistent' access to water? What was the longest he went w/o water? In hours, days (I doubt it) - give us something meaningful.

Same: "extended periods", "repetitive" (hey, I have toast for breakfast almost every day - is that 'inhumane'? 'over crowded' - how many people in how many square feet? Lights 'often' left on (as a Father, I've often yelled at my kids for 'often' leaving the lights on - call DCFS!!!).

Guy's a whiner, he has to go back!

Gonzalez’s lawyer, Luis Diaz, had argued his client deserved leniency because he had miserable childhood, including sexual abuse by a family member.

If that's true, and that means Gonzalez can't control himself and could kill someone else at any time, sounds like he needs to be locked up and kept away from society, if/until he has demonstrated he has changed.

One option, put Gonzalez under house arrest, strictly monitored, in that lawyer's home.
One thing we will *never* see is any sort of transparent accounting.

They will find a way to celebrate this as a "success".

HPE is not the same as HP

HPE announced this move in 2020 and moved HQ in 2021/2022
You are correct. HPE is not the 'old' HP (HWP/HPQ).

(from wiki) Traded as

NYSE: HWP (1961–2002)[1]
NYSE: HPQ (2002–2015)

HPQ headquarters are still :

HP Inc.
1501 Page Mill Road
Palo Alto, CA 94304
United States

OP should correct his post.

side note: Even the current HPQ is not the 'old' HP of founders Bill & David. HP started as a test equipment manufacturer, and that was its main business for many years. I wrote reqs for many millions of $$$ of their test equipment. Our company had a very good relationship with them. But the original Test Equipment branch was split out as "Agilent" in 1999.

A could of summers ago, we put out 6 feeders and kept them full. We had 30 plus hummingbirds sticking around.
They are beautiful and amazing to watch. But those dudes are violent!
They get crazy! It was worth the effort tho. Good times.

Yep, we have feeders out. Amazing to watch, but they are assholes to each other. Super territorial. If two approach a feeder at the same time, they battle it out until one leaves. Oddly, seems like most of the time they scare each other so much they *both* leave.

Sophie Cunningham has a surfboard for a body. Pretty face though.

She's a tall, fit professional athlete. She's going to be slender, muscular (unless her specialty is the shot put, or weight lifting, but it's basketball). It's not realistic to expect her to be carrying Paige size cans on her, or an hourglass figure.

I think she's pretty damn hot. An yes, I am old. I'm not sure what exactly defines creepy, but I would include putting those sorts of pics out there in public, and then complaining about the attention from the public.

Girl science.

Just like guy science says super hot girls get away with basically anything they want.

Corollary: Moderately hot girls get away with a lot.
They have to be getting sea sick by now. Probably the worst part of this mission?
I could see where this ceasefire/pause is strategic. We are monitoring all these activities, and the regime is working on everything they consider a priority, so we can later make targeted attacks, and/or use that info in other ways.

It's like the old Sherlock Holmes story where he fakes starting a fire in the suspects home, just to see the suspects reaction - she goes right to the papers she needs to protect, and is exposed. Here it is:

And the Biden family will all have asthma. :(
quote:

"As a result of a physical exam on April 5, 1968, Joe Biden was classified 1-Y and disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager," said David Wade, a campaign spokesman.

In "Promises to Keep," a memoir that was published last year and became an instant bestseller after he was tapped as Obama's running mate, Biden never mentions his asthma, recounting an active childhood, work as a lifeguard and football exploits in high school.
US_OGA should also reply with the total taxes on a gallon of gas, versus the profit per gallon the US_OGA makes on that gallon. Taxes are 18% average, CA I'm sure is higher.

Her linked in page is 'interesting'. She is a 'disgruntled employee' (justified or not). So was this leak a retaliation?

Maybe the timing of this is a warning to the Iran info leaker?

BTW, I've seen enough pics now, she's definitely a reasonably attractive woman (or better), maybe some others are seeing 'unflattering' pics, and extrapolating from there?
Huh? What's 2nd prize, two Cybertrucks (those things are ugly as frik!)?

Would this DMSO help yall?
Not according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology

quote:

Can DMSO help with my eye conditions? NOV 14, 2024 Question: Can DMSO help cataract symptoms, floaters, or retinal issues—and if so—can it harm IOLs? I have floaters and poor contrast sensitivity that have not resolved. Answer: While the FDA has approved the use of DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) for bladder inflammation, there is no evidence or even any reason to suspect that it would have any effect on any of the issues you mentioned. A comprehensive exam with an ophthalmologist may help explain the reasons for your symptoms and whether there is any available treatment. Answered By: Gary S Hirshfield, MD

The last few generations of steam engines were beautiful machines. Nothing like them.
I'm just a bit younger than ImaObserver, born in 1954. More recently, I was surprised to learn that steam engines were still running around when I was a child. But I never recall seeing one at the time, and I always thought of them as something out of old westerns, not something surviving into my childhood.

I was able to catch the UP Big Boy when it went through the Chicago area a few years back. Man, what a machine!

Very cool. I've ridden the Chicago North Western many, many times in my life. Mostly from Crystal Lake into Chicago - Jefferson Park, Irving Park, or downtown depending. Occasionally out to Woodstock or Harvard (End of the Line).

Where exactly did you get on board?
quote:

average reader was not careful, they would have missed the word 'almost' and would go around telling people, "Oh my god! We lost dozens of Americans!"

This is another prime example of why you truly cannot trust the media! They try to distort the truth to appease their base of followers.

Reminds me, years ago, I was listing to NPR on the car radio. Something about how people in high places risk their careers with lies. They mention about six Republicans and say something like "widely considered" to have LIED about xyz, or "often though to have" LIED about xyz, "may have been" LYING about xyz, etc. All in dramatic tones.

I'm thinking OK, no Democrats in your examples? Then they say "Oh, it's not exclusive to one side of the aisle, Hillary Clinton has not always been thought to be so forthcoming with the TRUTH (chuckle chuckle)".

Geez, Republicans something-something LIE, but Hilary something-something TRUTH.

No, I don't believe those things are co-incidence. But they may be so brainwashed that they phrase things this way w/o even thinking about it. Bias is part of their DNA.

The movie is going to be insane

I can already see the MSM headlines: "Opening week box office numbers below some estimates."
quote:

It’s likely the most direct evidence of Christ’s resurrection that has ever existed and for that reason alone is worthy of respect and deep appreciation as a reminder of the sacrifice that was made for all of us.

The scientific research around it is astounding and should be enough to make even atheists take pause.

From what I read of the AI summary, I don't think you can say this 'proves' anything one way or the other regarding Christ's resurrection.

It seems to indicate that this relic may well be from that time period, an authentic shroud of someone who was crucified. They can't determine it was the shroud of Jesus Christ though. And there seems to be some evidence that many crucifixions took place in those times.

So is that headline supposed to read "Almost failed and ALMOST cost dozens of American lives"?

Because I read it as "Almost failed and (in failing it did) cost dozens of American lives".

These people are *supposed* to have a command of the English language. They are either incompetent, or intentionally writing this to give the impression of lost lives. Or both.
