I agree that he's been a good addition, but Grandson has been just as good if not better. Need to see more from Chase or he probably be gone after this season.
Scheme vs O-line
Posted by themaestro on 9/26/24 at 12:50 pm
Kubiak's offense is built around a heavy run game. Once the defense commits to stopping the run he likes to take shots with PA plays.
With all the injuries to the offense line, is it gonna be possible to stay true to our offense on Sunday, or will we see an underwhelming side of the offense like we saw against the eagles.
Not sure how the game is going to go, but with the losses to our line, I don't think it's looking good.

They both are terrible, but penning is def worse.
O-Line looked horrible...
Posted by themaestro on 9/22/24 at 5:01 pm
Loosing McCoy at the start of the game was catastrophic.
Penning and Ruiz got absolutely shat on today. They were so bad that we had to give up our TE as an extra blocker any time we wanted to run a play to the right side of the field.
No matter what play we were calling, neither of them could stay in front of the guy they were supposed to block. in fact pennings best block was when he was matched up against a corner who he blocked 10 yrds out of bounds. WHAT AN IDIOT.

How do we defend the rushing ability of Jalen Hurts
Posted by themaestro on 9/20/24 at 1:54 pm
Recently we have had trouble with mobile quarterbacks
I think Willie Gay will be on the field a lot this week specifically for this reason, but is that going to be enough?
We are going to have to have a lot of pressure on hurts to win this game. when he has a lot of time in the pocket, his receivers are athletic enough to get open, and it also opens up the lanes for him to run.
Hopefully we see some D line stunts, and some good containment from or DE's that will force hurts to make some downfield mistakes that we can capitalize on.

LFG glad hill was out there. also love Saunders man, he's a heavily slept on piece of our D-line.

Without a doubt. An elite QB takes teams to a different level. Think about the pieces that were around drew at the time too. Half of them would have been mid players on any other team, but drew made them look good and play good.

Him missing the game is a big W for us. We would have trouble handling him and Devonta, but just Devonta is light work.
why we need Taysom on Sunday
Posted by themaestro on 9/19/24 at 12:47 pm
After being severely under used last year, Kubiak has put the special man to work. So far he's played RB, TE, and FB. Just having him on the field gives our opponents and extra factor to worry about due to his versatility. It's very hard to gameplan for someone who can pretty much do everything.
Even if it's just as a decoy, Taysom has to play this Sunday. Using him in motion, to either shift the defense, or have him lead block like a mad man is going to help us secure the win on Sunday.

re: Rookie WR Mason Tipton earns praise & playing time for his blocking

It seems like he might even be better than Tre'Quan. He's faster, and is in a better offensive scheme.
re: How do we keep Kamara?
Posted by themaestro on 9/19/24 at 12:32 pm to Proximo
Honestly, as much as I love AK, not sure it's worth it throwing him big money since he's 29. Most running backs in the league start to decline when they reach 27-28.
Regarding Latt, he's gotta go. His contract takes up too much cap for someone who generally misses 3-4 games a season. we also have a certified replacement in adebo, who has looked pretty damn good.
we should try to draft a RB this year as a replacement for AK, or try to look for one in a trade this offseason.

Perry ain't got a whole lot on Tipton at the moment.
Agreed. the only thing he has over him is size. Even though he hasn't been targeted much, Tipton runs his routes with maximum effort, and he is surprisingly smooth for an UDFA

Espn has us ranked at 9. After that beat down on the cowgirls, I thought we would be higher.

This is what you look for in a WR in a run heavy based scheme. Still crazy to me tho that he managed to make the team without playing in a single pre season game. I guess it was plays like this in practice that won him his spot

Speak the truth, that throw was an absolute bomb.
re: Incredible week 1 for Saints, but not there yet

Olave is a Diva. He might have had a couple of good blocks, but watch his demeanor on pass plays, especially when he does not get targeted. He walks around the field, and jogs his backside routes. Not what you want to see from your WR 1 and previous first round pick. Not saying that he is not a good WR, but he has some work to do.
re: Olave ….where was he today ?
Posted by themaestro on 9/9/24 at 10:43 am to Al Bundy Bulldog
Olave is an absolute DIVA. When he is not being targeted, he takes plays off, run's his routes with minimum effort, and sulks like a little girl.
He needs to grow tf up and learn how to be a member of the team.

Week 1, was definitely a success in my book. The new offensive scheme presented by Kubiak was absolutely amazing to watch. He got the ball to our playmakers, which we failed to see last year from Carmichael.
However, I am not sold on our defensive line. For pretty much the whole game we could not get into the backfield except for when they ran roll out PA passes. The most pressure we had on the QB came from a Corner. Love to see that from Alonte(what a dog, 3 sacks from a CB is unreal), but wee need to work on getting pressure from our edges and our interior line.
I will never not support Cam Jordan, but it was obvious that he lost a step due to his old age. Chase young looked good, but needs to be more efficient. Our DT's were very mid to say the least.
If we want this team to go far, we need Dennis to step up and find a way to get some pressure on the Qb with our D line.
