My Dad all but wrecked his finances before he was legally declared incompetent. I know this sounds harsh, but that’s the first thing you need to do, if you can. If he is somewhat compliant, he might sign over power of attorney to you which would avoid the incompetency declaration.

Well, had we kept our men and guns home during WWII, Hitler would have been running most, if not all of Europe through at least the 1970’s. Heck, he might have taken over the ME, who knows? I doubt very seriously this migrant crisis would have grown out of that situation so I guess you could say, yes, the US does hold some of the blame.

It was only a matter of time before she turned on Trump. Her reaction to Trump in 2016 basically blew-up her career. She smartly bended the knee and got back on track. Thank you so much for posting that info, I really do appreciate the effort, but the prices for August are insanely higher. I don’t have an option to go at a different time bc I’m hooking this trip onto a family wedding in Copenhagen.

No rooms there, and no, nothing for $300/night. Cheapest I saw was 800,900 and those were shared bathrooms. Sorry, not sharing a bathroom.
A guide I used for Rim to Rim suggested a guide in Reykjavik. Looks like he’s got some good day hikes, which is what I’m looking for. I’ve reached out to him about a recomendation for a VRBO or
Airbnb. It worries me that they are so inexpensive compared to hotels. I don’t want to get scammed, get there and have nowhere to stay. I’m not much of a traveler, only been to Europe once and that was as a chaperone on a HS trip to London and Paris.
I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland and this is my chance, so…

Nope. US dollars. 305,000 Icelandic krona. The cheapest hotel I saw, which looks like a Red Roof Inn was $900/ night. Granted, August is peak season.
