Not sure, the only serious accusations I've seen leveled this time were against Kiffin on behalf of OM

Plenty of fanbases are complaining about it. Against Lane and every other program in the country. What do you think Duke fans are saying about Miami tonight?

It's all just fans complaining while their team does the same thing. Nothing more. Nothing less.
quote:

That’s not the way it works.

Ole Miss doesn’t “release” him because Ole Miss doesn’t have any control of him.

The buyout is simply a penalty for him deciding to move on. Assuming the contract is valid, the buyout is paid based in the terms of the contract. And if not, Ole Miss would sue to enforce it.

Take it up with the NCAA then. They're the ones who wrote the rules on all of this
quote:

Okay, you're obviously another butt hurt OM fan.

Carry on.

You don't think Lane is tampering? Not just OM players, but everyone. Absolutely everyone is tampering and all are completely brazen about it all.

Your either incredibly neive or still in that stage of fandom where Lane has never and will never break a single rule because he's perfect in every single way.
quote:

My point is, it would be foolish for LSU to communicate with the kid after the way OM has thrown around the "tampering claim" against Kiffin over the last two months.

Why not? There's no penalties for any of it. Why not just say frick it and keep being brazen about it all
quote:

Is there a rule preventing the player from paying the buyout to get out of the contract? Surely he could make a deal with his new team to be reimbursed.

No idea to be honest. The issue is that the buyout comes out of the buying teams rev share amount (so that $20.5 mil figure all teams have). No idea how it would work to reimburse the player with rev share while that money also going to the "selling" school. I'm sure something could work though.

LSU has already paid Ole Miss for Harper, so surely they've figured this out once already. No idea though why LSU paid immediately with Harper but Prince is dragging out.
quote:

How can LSU offer him if he's not in the portal? That's tampering

Everyone tampers. What's your point? Currently there's no penalties for tampering. This is purely a breach of contract / damages situation.
quote:

Well the school that signs him would owe it, no?

So the paperwork would have to be filed so he is officially in the portal for any of this to happen?

It seems we are skipping a step here to move the process along.

I'm not saying the rules make perfect sense, but those are the current rules. And your also assuming we live in a world with no tampering and every player entering the portal is 100% open. In reality everyone is tampering and 75% of players entering the portal already know where they are going and for how much money.

For example, Washington refused to release Desmond into the portal until LSU paid. LSU decided not to, so Washington never processed his paperwork.
quote:

Has OM placed him in the portal?

Don't have to process the paperwork until the money has been paid.
quote:

Who’s paying the buyout then?

LSU owes it out of their rev share
quote:

I’m pretty sure they can’t legally refuse to file the paperwork. If there is actually a buyout in what was signed then this is exactly what it’s for.

The minute the buyout is paid is the minute Ole Miss will release him. He hasn't been released because the buyout hasn't been paid. This isnt a complicated situation
Live view on how penalties will be decided:

Kinda strange because High Point isn’t exactly a poor wasteland

Specifically, this high school has a couple alumni in the NFL too

Ole Miss has added Florida offensive tackle Enoch Wangoy. Originally moved from Manchester, England to Zarephath Academy (Fla.) for basketball. He redshirted in 2024 and did not play this year. Certainly a project but a 6-foot-7, 330 pound project. He's only played football for three full seasons

Lee is likely returning - just wants confirmation that Trinidad will be the starting QB in Oxford next year.

LSU Is going try getting him to do like the player Miami did.. just enroll and not go thru portal. That could come back to bite any program getting players like that if ask me.

The Wisconsin player just had a NIL deal. No rev share. That distinction may be a big difference. It has been so far this year

Clemson sources are now also saying that Ferrelli is flipping to OM
Yeah Wright was our TE. Super important. He's headed to the NFL this year too
