Rebs win 8-3 and complete a comfortable sweep of Evansville
Arkansas passed the same thing last year and no one cared. The fear is real

Agreed

they are trying to get this too the SCOTUS

Disagree.

I think they want to build a book of lost lawsuits so they can go to Congress and basically say "see, we need anti-trust protection"

There are obviously metrics out there that can be used to determine the value in endorsement deals. Agents and marketing managers likely use them everyday in negotiating appearances or product endorsement deals.

Sure, but absolutely none of those place a hard limit on what a company can choose to pay to an individual for their services.

To have an enforceable salary cap of any kind you need collective bargaining. And even that is highly unlikely to place any sort of limit on what a player can make off their own NIL.

don't act like the NCAA clearinghouse can't compare that to what he paid Post Malone to determine that it was pay for play and not NIL if its not in line with metrics.

And what's stopping Todd from saying "me paying Arch is worth more to my company than paying Post"? Is this Clearinghouse going to start telling private companies who is and isn't worth a specific amount of money?

They may have local deals, but I doubt the Left Tackle has a 4 million dollar NIL deal.

Sure, but who's going to determine "fair market value"? And who are they to make that decision? Why should someone get to tell Mark Cuban what someone is, or isn't, worth to him? Sounds highly illegal...

It shouldn't be any different than professional athletes negotiating endorsement deals.

So any company can pay any player they deem fit any amount they want. So the current model, got it.

might stay within our means

State politicians are known for this...

Currently NIL is being abused and its obviously a front for pay for play!

Shut up with this fake arse bullshite.

How are you going to police it?
Yeah a large tornado went right through Union City this afternoon. Early damage pictures look rough.
quote:

You cant just executive order a salary cap without it getting ruled illegal like emergency tariffs.

And you can't limit what an individual player can make on his own NIL. With a CBA you can limit what schools can pay players, but you'll still have mega boosters giving kids money for advertising/marketing.

Ole Miss is going to be crying when the tax free NIL is not gonna work

Arkansas did it first, OM is just trying to keep a level playing field.

Also, just generally, sure you can have a salary cap (there currently basically is with the new Rev Share situation). But you can't limit NIL - it would be like telling the Patriots that's they can't keep Brady because his advertising revenue sent the Patriots over the Salary Cap ...

4-star DL Ben'Jarvius Shumaker committed. Rivals has him as the #57 player in the country. #2 player in MS, #5 DL nationally.

collective bargaining for the athletes with clear rules about eligibility.

Until there is a collective bargaining agreement, it will be impossible to get everyone in-line following the same set of rules.

He was at the Cardinals. The S&C coach we hired was from the Falcons.

Good win today. Will be a successful weekend if we beat Coastal tomorrow and go 2-1
I agree we cannot let Iran have nuclear weapons.

But let's not pretend this has anything to do with it.

Otherwise we'd have active engagement throughout Africa and SE Asia too.
