re: Best SEC basketball Rivalries

For UK, it’s historically been: 1) Tennessee 2) Florida

Honestly feel like we are in a weird spot since we shot up from obscurity to 3X national champion in relatively short period of time.

Without doubt UK has become a great rivalry in BD era and beyond. It should remain so now given UF’s ascension as a program.

I am glad that Florida v UK is back to being placed twice this year. Should be permanently but we'll take what we can get.

Georgia did well with the Mike White hire. I wonder if there would be a similar candidate we could pick up depending on end of season firings. A retread who mayve not gotten a fair shot

There's not much upside in those hires. Mike White is like a mid floor, low ceiling guy.

Personally, I think taking a swing with someone like the Saint Louis coach is a better play. That said, probably going to be a hot commodity this offseason.

It says a lot since you know Golden and Napier spoke a lot and were definitely buddies at some point.

Golden is just calling it how he sees it. It's "refreshing" to hear some of the stuff Sumrall is saying. That's a frick YOU to Napier.

Napier (and family) might have been the most disconnected coach from UF and Gator sports we've seen. He'd occasionally make appearances, but they were definitely not as visible around Gainesville as coaches usually are.

The UAA has found a way to make tCAW's prophecy come true, we are going to the ACC where we belong

The easy way to know this is false - UF has literally been operating with an interim administration for going on 2 years now. There is no one in place that could even begin to have this conversation with the Board of Trustees. Even if by some chance they wanted to (which they don't), the UAA has absolutely no say over this whatsoever.

I could our see our retarded admin wanting to be in the Big 10 because of muh academics.

And money.

If there is any truth at all to this - and I very much doubt there is - then that's a pretty big tell that the SEC is planning to add Clemson and either FSU or Miami in the near future. That's about the only thing that I think could make UF and SC "disgruntled."

UF has backed FSU getting into the SEC on multiple occasions.

Anyone else hear this rumor?
This guy works for 247 but haven’t seen this anywhere else. Doesn’t make sense to leave the SEC.

It is nonsense. Crap thrown out there to try and grab attention on Twitter.

That's it, everyone keep believing the troll. If you would just stop and think of the financial ramifications of leaving the SEC for the Acc. You would know that is program suicide. And only a dumb arse would say different.

If UF were to leave, could at least understand an argument that we'd look Big 10. Not the damn ACC, that is just idiotic

If that's what we want to call it.

He'll probably be fine as long as he is not actually in charge of the defense. Assume he won't be with Golding there.

How long will the Bulls stick with Donovan, and would he like to return to college basketball?

I, for one, would love Billy Donovan.

I'm doubtful Donovan comes back to the college game, but if he did I'd expect it to be somewhere like Providence.
There is a lot of information floating around right now.

This is one supposed insider. Others are saying this is completely untrue. Absolutely no reason to jump the gun at this point and overreact.

As of now, that is his contracted date of retirement. Boards intention is to have his term as AD sunset no later than the end of the decade. He could still be around in some capacity as an advisor, but hopefully he doesn’t take that option

Stricklin sucks and should have been gone a long time ago. If any silver lining, he won't be the AD beyond 2030. I'd love to see him gone sooner, but at least there seems to be an expiration date.

re: Sources: Jadan Baugh to Texas

Posted by bgator85 on 12/17/25 at 2:56 pm to
Let's see this play out first. I'm not sure where this Baugh stuff is coming from, reports are completely all over the place. Have heard equally good stuff for him to come back.

SEC basketball successes drop significantly when Kentucky isn't performing to their typical standard of excellence and forcing the rest of us to keep up. Somebody needs to get UK on the right track and the rest of us will follow.

I'm not entirely sure that is true. UF has been one of the most successful basketball programs of the last 25 years nationally. More so than UK.

The SEC is investing a lot more in basketball now. Doesn't hurt when UK is good too, but UK wasn't exactly a big part of the story last year during what was possibly the greatest single year for any conference in history.

Here is the % of in-state kids:

73.50%- Florida

I'm assuming this is including graduate programs? UF is closer to 85-90% Floridian for undergrad.

Some Florida fans, and a lot of other fans, are ridiculing this man over hiring another G5 coach. Now he's out explaining himself

I can't stand Stricklin and think he should have been gone over a number of the coaching scandals. IMO he should probably just lurk in the background, but think him coming out of the shadows is a reflection of him sensing a mood change around the hire. People are generally pretty excited about Sumrall now.

LSU and Florida have had a coach leave them more recently than Ole Miss has

Spurrier went to NFL. Can't think of last coach that voluntarily left to take a job at another college.

When you consider that these are institutes of higher learning and mainly ran and managed by people who may not find athletics overly pretty and may actually despise the idea of athletic competition it is not hard to conclude that they will eventually reign in the AD. I know the money is completely independent BUT the image is tied at the hip and damaging that hip by paying a coach a bunch of money to go away is a terrible look publicly.

They care about the money coming in, and despite all the football issues of late, the revenue is still flowing. There is nothing to indicate firing football coaches is tarnishing the brand.

Also, the President of the university has sweeping powers as they are also the chair of the UAA (our ath dept). They control the budget, so if its a bad look to be paying the coach all this money, they aren't exactly absolved.
