re: General's promotion blocked in first sign of Trump retaliation for Afghanistan pullout
Posted by LSUinNL on 11/26/24 at 7:57 am to Major Dutch Schaefer
I'm all for holding General's accountable, but this isn't it.
He was the CG for 82nd and they went there for less than a month to help facilitate the withdrawal.
A 2-star division commander did not make policy nor strategic decisions here.
The SECDEF, CENTCOM, DoS, Pentagon all had the say in how this would go.
Go after the decision makers there.
I don't know LTG Donahue, but his career speaks for itself. He's spent a majority of his career in Delta force, eventually commanding it. He has over 7 years of combat time in Iraq and Afghanistan...that's real combat, not chilling at the green zone or eating burger king at Camp Victory every day.
This is retaliating against the wrong guy because of people that have no understanding of how things actually function want to look good under the new regime.

re: Private school vs Public School

Wow,
I went to public school and graduated in '99 in CENLA. My education leaned more towards the terrible side of things and I didn't have any discipline.
I had a decent combination of luck and skill and intelligence that have brought me to my current point.
Do you guys realize for the amount of money you're paying to the local private school you could have your kid rubbing shoulders with royalty in european boarding schools and semi-boarding schools?
You can get your kids into UCW, or AEFE or any of the elite international school associations which can set your kid up for life. I don't just mean getting into LSU either
Private school is basically the new travel ball thread with people paying tons of money for a product that used to be basically free then touting the successes.

Lets see, over the past 3 recruiting classes Bama has had 11 5-stars and 54 4-stars. Yet they were outperformed by Auburn and LSU
to reiterate
Alabama 2017-19 11 5-stars, and 54 4-stars
got beat by
with Aub 2017-19 3 5-stars, and 37 4-stars
with LSU 2017-19 5 5-stars, and 37 4-stars
Yeah, Saban might be the GOAT at the college level overall, but he has shown repeatedly that he's not the best at X's and O's and depends on his recruiting ability and a severe talent advantage to win games.
This year that didn't work out for him.
Gus and O aren't doing too bad i'd say.
