Because the $3.5 trillion market cap company can easily run analytics to see how much subscribers are willing to pay and can predict with a high degree of certainty what the threshold is for a subscriber to leave in terms of cost.
And also because Disney is notorious for holding their platform hostage against competing streaming services and forcing them to Jack up the price to drive subscribers to their own streaming platform, Hulu. A quick search on the $3.5 trillion market cap’s search engine would tell you that this is the third time Disney has done this in the last 2 years.
This is anti-competitive behavior that really needs to be addressed by a forced sell off of either ESPN and ABC, or Hulu.
