I had my bottom ones surgically removed earlier this year. I had the option of going under or just local, and I chose local and they immediately stopped when one spot wasn’t fully numbed.
If you can still feel one spot on your lips while the rest is numb, they may need to do one more local shot.
The soreness the next couple of days was rough but you can tough it out with ibuprofen and a cloth ice pack.
