re: Doug Collins Has Received A Lot Of Money From Big Tech Companies — Here Is How Much

I remember watching Rand Paul flip on Google. As I recall, it was after "talking with them". Sad.
Re Collins ... he also opposes Term Limits.
These two sites consider him ok to Poor on his Conservative credentials ... based on voting record. Not saying I agree or disagree...

The Key Word there may be "yet".
I need to read more, but I believe he reached a conclusion without all the evidence. I'm glad Barr and the State AGs are not listening to the DC Swamp. Hopefully, Barr gets it done. Facebook does a good job (from their standpoint) of working both the GOP and DEMs. They have no morals. There are DEMS on both sides of the fence with Google. They say one thing publicly, then take the Tech money and do nothing. Pelosi owns a LOT of tech stock. Notice nothing has happened in the House. So, Collins is not really taking the opposite side of the DEMs. He is taking the anti-Consumer, anti-liberty position. I would not vote for him, for that reason. But, it is not likely I will get that cabin in North GA before November. :)

The Tech is complex, and Collins was opposing what the Left was trying to do with Tech. That's isn't something to get pissed about. Money is small amount, I'm not outraged yet.
The 3 Down Votes must be the Always Trumpers (tm) who have little clue about most issues. Collins is riding that Trump Train. Looks like he will be more of the same in the Senate.
It will likely get much bigger if he wins, depending on his committee assignments. He is riding the Trump train into the Senate and is a major disappointment.

I don't like Collins' stance on this issue but that amount of contribution money does not seem like a lot.
If he keeps it going ... I see him as a possible 2024 or 2028 Big Stage candidate. I wish he was in Alabama, but instead, we are likely getting Cigar smoking, 6 Fingers Tommy Tuberville.

Congrats to Missouri. They did a hell of a job picking out a diamond in the rough.

I was just about to post about this... didn't know about that article. I did hear the Tucker Carlson piece and was about to look some stuff up based on that. So, thanks for posting.
We have WAY TOO MANY so-called Conservatives who do not believe in Liberty and Freedom.
If I was in GA, I would be inclined to pick blondie.

Bingo ... it is racist to pick a person based on the color of their skin ... unless you go by new and updated definitions of "racist".

Imagine if a republican candidate overtly said to be eligible for VP consideration you needed to be a specific gender and race.
Holy frick would all these liberals be singing a different tune.

Agree with "additional votes it garners will be in states that are already locked for the Democratic candidates".
But this would also help in states that Trump won last time - the ones that helped him become President.

She was my predicted pick for VP for a LONG time. The MN thing ended her chances because of her background in prosecution. I think she fell behind the Michigan Gov for a while until the Mich Gov blew herself up.
If noting changes between now and Nov, I think Biden will pick a black woman as VP running mate. He needs excitement unamong the black voters to get out and vote.
And if nothing changes Biden will likely win, and he may not make it through Term 1. So, who he picks has a very good chance of being President within four years.

ABC knew about it when they hired him.

I get all check marks, including Fingerprinting. Past that it is above my pay grade. Using it you just experiment until you g"figure" out how little you allow. It is not perfect, but I feel good about blocking a lot of tracking crap. If I turn off Noscript, I do NOT pass the Fingerprinting. TorBrowser also passes with all checks.
... I just tried on my iPhone with Firefox and DisconnectMe set with block FingerPrinting in Default mode and it does not pass on Fingerprinting, passes the rest. With DisconnectMe in Aggressive mode, the browser won't make it to the site. They need to work on that. Fortunately, I do not browse much on my phone.

Yeah I failed everything on my phone . What is your browsing experience like blocking all that stuff in the fingerprinting section? Surely you have to allow some level of local/session storage for authentication not to get messed up from page to page when signed into an account, or access to your device max resolution to get served the right rendering of a site, just to name a couple.
ETA: I'm very much pro Firefox/Edge as competition drives innovation and keeps everyone honest to a degree.

I use NoScript, Ghostery and Privacy Badger and I can see who is tracking. You can block a lot with Noscript and still get almost full functionality on most sites. Noscript is built into the TorBrowser.
I would never use a "Google" Browser, unless I was developing and needed to test a site with it ... along with other browsers.
The only two ways I've seen to get a passing grade on tracking is the TorBrowser, and Firefox with NoScript (Ghostery and Privacy Badger). https://panopticlick.eff.org/

Have you looked at it? I assumed it was just more bs from Microsoft, but it is not. You need to look at it before judging it. It allows you to block their four MSN cookies on the opening page fron their settings (not via a third party add-in). It has pretty good privacy and blocking capability. You do not have to log into Microsoft to use the features.
Again, I use Firefox.

Actually, several Republicans who didn't want to get labeled voted no on a bill that would have corrected some of the bigger issues in Legal Immigration and I think $25 Billion for a wall.
re: Joe just lost the election with one tweet
Posted by BobLouder on 6/18/20 at 5:32 pm to NashvilleTider
Why would that cost him the election? The GOP blew the chance to fix immigration but chose instead to cater to the base.
Could have built a BIG beautiful wall, got the end to Birth Right Citizenship (via clear language in a bi-partisan bill), and most everything else that the GOP wanted in exchange for letting the Dreamers become citizens, and legal status (not Citizenship) for their parents.
But several will reply I'm a Liberal or some BS for stating that. EVENTUALLY the DEMs will get what they want -just like they got O'bamacare.

Dumb move to have it inside. Why not fill up a 30,000 to 50,000 outdoor arena... or more? How about a 100,000 stadium with a little Special Distancing. The media wouldn't know how to handle that.
He needs to win over voters in the "middle" to win the election. The Always Trumpers (tm) will show up to vote.

Firefox vs (new, updated) Microsoft Edge vs Google Chrome
Posted by BobLouder on 6/18/20 at 5:12 pm
Checked out the NEW recently updated Microsoft Edge browser in more detail today. Like Google Chrome, it is based on Chromium.
Like Firefox, it has web tracking blocking built-in with simple settings for the average user. That is enough right there to remove Google Chrome and use Edge. Most of the settings are straightforward, except they try to hide changing the default Search engine - at bottom of Privacy and Services.
Except for maybe some business needs and maybe some special needs that I can't think of at the moment, I do not know why somebody would use a Google browser when Edge gives what Google offers with built in privacy. Edge does not have the "noscript" extension that Firefox has available. But for most users, that would not matter. Firefox remains my top choice, but I am impressed with what I see in Microsoft Edge.

Well, one thing is no Democrats give to Big Oil. Google and Facebook work both Republicans and Democrats via lobbying and donations. Establishment Republicans want to be good graces of the US CofC and Democrats want to be directly in the good graces of Big Tech. It is unique and very bad.
There are levels of competition in Big Oil ... France has Total, Holland has Royal Dutch Shell, etc
bck to the point ... Google has a monopoly on search and other areas and they need to be busted up.

And don't think Big Tech is going to sit back and just watch it happen ...
Big Tech Lobbying
Amazon, Facebook and Google turn to deep network of political allies to battle back antitrust probes
The tech giants have funded a bevy of political groups, including those producing positive polling, and engaged in other fingerprint-free tactics designed to deter regulators

Good points on Amazon ... along with what Musk said.
quote:
Apple is not a big deal. Microsoft and Amazon are, they are putting out of business by using anti-trust behavior.... go ask Slack and Zoom. Amazon makes money on AWS and makes huge losses on retail, putting all the other brick and mortars out of business... not because they have a better business, but because they can finance it with AWS money.
And here is an article about not allowing members own stock. Don't see that ever happening ...

Way past time to do this. BUT, too many lawmakers own stock in these companies. Is this really going to get through the US House with hack Nancy in charge? I think she owns over a million in FaceCrook stock. This article discusses...
Congress and Big Tech stock ownership
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who represents a San Francisco district that neighbors tech giants, reported owning up to $25.5 million in Apple stocks. Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, runs a venture capital firm that has helped make the Democratic leader one of the wealthiest members of Congress. He made a number of trades involving tech companies during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, including buying shares of Slack Technologies stock.
Microsoft is the second-most invested company. Sixty-five lawmakers owned stocks in the tech giant. Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), a former Microsoft executive, owned up to $10 million in company stock. Another former Microsoft employee, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), held up to $5.2 million in Microsoft stock.
Tech companies are among the most popular assets for lawmakers, with 42 members invested in Google, 37 in Amazon and 34 in Facebook as of the most recent filings. Several ultra-wealthy members of Congress reported significant holdings in all five major tech companies, including Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.), a former banker, and Rep. Gil Cisneros (D-Calif.), a lottery winner."
"Other Democrats reported seven-figure investments in big tech last year. Freshman Rep. Elaine Luria (D-Va.) reported holding up to $5 million in Facebook stock."
