Biden. Or whoever it was that told Biden what he was going to do.

It’ll be okay, Clark. Eventually Iran will run out of lunatics to kill.
 Padres.

I wouldn’t want to play for that loser organization either. I want to win.

Anyone who thought we could engage Iran and their proxies without any casualties is beyond unrealistic.

Without a doubt. I actually really appreciate that Trump had been open with the nation about this. The military has their internal briefings where God only knows what is being said. But for Trump to come out and not only rally the nation but be honest and let us know there will be a cost involved is leadership that I approve of. It’s easy to sunshine pump and provide positive updates. It’s another thing to say here’s the shitty part. I think the administration has done a very good job of that.

Nah. Just a few that are playing word games. Wars only officially start with a declaration types. Which is nonsense as we’re witnessing.
We’re at war. Things like this happen. Are there any casualties?

Sooo many Eric the Hack posts coming from that one.

Thanks for posting and thank you for spelling Fury correctly. Somebody had it as Epic Furry yesterday.

Trump sounds tired. Can’t say that I blame him. You know he’s getting very little sleep.

The Madrid rail bombings. They’re afraid of that happening again or something far worse. Which should provide some clarity as to who they’ve allowed into their country if they are even remotely introspective.
He has plenty to worry about domestically. Trying to placate us by finally allowing us to use their bases and not stir up the hornet’s nest he has at home by saying they will only operate defensively is weak as hell. You have to take a stand for what is right. The lines are clearly drawn and the decision should be easy.
That’s a great statement by Hegseth.

ABC is saying that he did not rule out boots on the ground. Did anyone catch that during his presser?

We’re not “at war” the Iran.

I blame Jjdoc for introducing this absolutely idiotic take with his thread that he started a few hours into it. It’s semantics and it is beyond absurd. One last thing, Hegseth has called this a “war”.

The hell is that?

That's the "....and then what?" part. Or, the hard part of the equation. We know what instability can breed in that part of the world.

Yep. The Iranian people do have to rise up. But they also need arms to help do so. That could come from the military turning on the regime or it could come from us supplying the arms. But if there isn’t widespread desertion in their armed forces they’ll have that to contend with along with the millions of ayatollah supporters that are going to want revenge of some sort.

Where I see it getting really tricky is vetting the deserters that Trump basically offered an amnesty to. How do you trust and prove that they’re sincere and not just embedding themselves amongst the population?

I saw her yesterday with Tony Dokoupil (their evening news host). She’s inspiring for sure. Three attempted kidnapping/assassination attempts.
Agreed. Unfortunately I can see Iran having a rough go of it due to an insurgency. I forget where I saw it (probably CBS) but they were talking about the support that the regime had and it was roughly 10% but that still comes out to roughly 9 million people to recruit from. That’s a huge problem moving forward.

With the proxies in other nations knowing that their financial and material support is lessening they’re going to do what they can to inflict maximum damage. I don’t think I would have such a doom and gloom view if this wasn’t driven by religious fervor. I just don’t see how you can go from dedicated warrior of allah, desirous of killing everyone that isn’t you, to being talked out of it because that isn’t a nice thing to go about doing. Death is to be embraced. Martyrdom is winning for these types.
The proxies have to be dealt with. There’s no avoiding it and it can’t be won exclusively from the air.

My biggest fear is that we end up with an insurgency in Iran after a transition to a new leader.

Which is why libertarians need to realize that people like this can never be allowed to have long range offensive missiles or nukes.

To expand on that just a little… we’re dealing with religious zealots. That adds an entirely different element to the equation. They’re convinced that martyrdom is a win. Death is to be embraced. That makes them especially dangerous.
That’s war for ya. Very early in this thread I mentioned that if they think this is the end for them they’ll launch whatever they have because there is nothing to lose.
