Son of Ed has the same “the game is about me” disease his pop had.

Of those 4, I like Cheffers and his crew the best. I could be totally wrong, if someone dug up stats, but Cheffers and his crew usually seem to let the game breathe and the players play.

I imagine this has to be an upgrade from our former strength coach,

After watching LSU football the last 4 years, almost anyone else would be an upgrade from our former strength coach.
Men's basketball doesn't warrant much interest because the school and coaching staff have let the program drift into irrelevance. There was some activity last night just because they blew another game, this time an 18-point lead in the second half.

Otherwise, there are not enough threads on men's basketball on a daily basis to warrant a separate board. The interest isn't there right now.
Ah, yes, the Meaningless Miracle. Keystone Kop duo of Sean Payton and Dennis Allen presiding over the mismanagement of the end of that game.

Not the first time, or last time, Payton mismanaged the end of a playoff game. Helluva coaching job to waste all those prime Drew Brees years.

You corrected me, I agree.

Look, it's been a long time ago since that, and to be fair to you, Johnson did nothing after that SEC title. So I can see your point.

I'm just so disgusted with McMahon that I just pounced. I'm sorry.

The real problem is they took it to fund women's basketball

You could double what you're giving McMahon to put together a roster, and the men's team still wouldn't have enough depth or know how to close out games in which they haven't been blown out in the first half.

This guy has been in over his head for 4 years. It's time to pull the plug.

Meh, we know our team is so poorly coached, just waiting on a new one next season at this point.

Anyone with a brain knew LSU would blow the lead no matter how big it got. We've melted in the final 10 minutes of games for 4 years now if we haven't been blown out by that point first.

Worst LSU basketball coach of my lifetime, but I wasn't around for the pre-Press Maravich days in the mid-'60s.

Miller tried to catch it. All he had to do was tap it or knock it down. Common mistake made on successful Hail Mary plays in football.

Trent Johnson says hello

Trent Johnson won a regular-season SEC championship. Johnny Jones made an NCAA tournament. The answer to the OP is McMahon is the worst LSU basketball coach since at least the '60s.

For not having their starting PGs? Unfortunate for Pope, their guy is out for season

It’s called depth. If losing one player wrecks your season, you’ve done something wrong in assembling the roster.
Eh. The players have always changed every 3 or 4 years, and they're not coming to my house to hang out and drink beer. Now they just change every year. With rare exceptions, I'm a "root for the uniforms" kind of guy.

LSU is bigger than the coaches and the players wearing those uniforms. Always has been. Always will be.
Generic colors, generic name, bland uniforms, generic team for most of its existence. I haven't been able to embrace them. But I usually root for them to do well.
It’s as if the 1980s Cincinnati Bengals had basketball uniforms in LSU colors. Love ‘em.

If we don’t lose Reed and Thomas the entire season and expectations are different.

If ifs and but were berries and nuts, we’d all be happy at Christmas. It’s called depth, and LSU has had none for at least 4 years.

If think the administration wants to let him finish this year out so we don’t have to fire two coaches mid season, but we are looking at starting conference 0-8 until we play USCe again at the end of the month. If the losses are bad enough especially at home they may have no choice.

I think you make a good point, but, honestly, apathy makes it unlikely he gets canned before the season ends. The crowds are already small, people don’t really care right now and you’re not gaining an advantage in the coaching search by letting him go early. They can wait til the end of the season.

Was rooting for the Packers in part to see Allen lose.
Football is a dangerous sport. People get hurt. The best way for a person not to get hurt is not to play. Those who play may end up with CTE and other life-altering injuries. All of these targeting and "safety" rules are CYA to try to avoid lawsuits.

Kicking a kid out of a game and for part of the next game is absurd. Unless the guy takes off like Hacksaw Jim Duggan (IYKYK), it's ridiculous to penalize someone for an unintentional hit to the head.

Watching the fraternity bros melt on tv with the frat swoops last night was very satisfying.

Shows how much the rest of the country knows about Ole Miss to be playing the victim card for them.
If your defense makes plays, it doesn't have to stay on the field the entire first half. Or the entire second half ot the fourth quarter, for that matter.
Kiffin wouldn't have overcome that fourth-quarter defense. Good luck, Ole Miss. You'll need it.

re: If only yall had lane

Lane wouldn't have been able to overcome that fourth-quarter defense. Who is the defensive coordinator again? I know LSU is taking the offensive coordinator.

But it will probably be sooner than 60 years before Ole Miss' next playoff appearance, only because the field will probably be 64 teams by 2040, thanks to the geniuses that run college football.

Almost perfect outcome. Offensive coordinator’s unit balls out in the last quarter, nearly wins it. Defensive coordinator’s unit blows it.

See you in another 60 years, runts.
